It was a rainy Sunday in Charleston, so my friend and I spent a good long time trying to brainstorm…read moreindoor activities to do. We settled on Chucktown and drove up to North Charleston to check it out. We reserved the mini golf in advance on their website, though honestly the axe throwing looked much more fun. There was a little wait to check in and then we were given our clubs and balls. It was a small course and not what you'd typically expect from indoor mini golf. The sets looked pretty old, like they could use a refresh, but we had a good time overall. Other people had the same idea as us, so it was very crowded in there. It's connected to a brewery too, so we tried some samples on our way out.

I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but there were several issues. When we arrived, the guy at the front counter told us there would be a 20-minute wait for axe throwing. To pass the time, we bought the all-activities pass and asked how we'd know when it was our turn. He said he would come find us, but after waiting over 30 minutes, two groups went ahead of us--one had a reservation, which we understand, but the other group purchased their pass after we did. It also seemed like they didn't have enough staff to manage everything. The front counter employee left in the middle of our transaction to go over safety protocols with another group. About five minutes later, another employee came up and rather rudely asked us to move so another group could fill out forms. Eventually, someone else completed our transaction, but almost handed our purchase to the wrong group. There was no system in place--no wristbands or any clear way to track what you paid for or when it was your turn. The space was overcrowded, and there was little to no guidance on what to do after purchasing. In the end, we only managed to play a bit of Tetris and didn't get to enjoy any of the activities we paid for. Overall, the experience was very disappointing, and the online presentation of this place is misleading compared to what it's actually like in person.

Though, it was off the island, this was still a nice place to visit. I believe this was in Bluffton. The owner was extremely nice and explained to us that the location was recently purchased by him and his wife. He is a retired military guy (thank you for your service) and is doing this for fun now (to keep occupied). He and his wife do competitive axe throwing now and was showing us various techniques of throwing the axes. When it was our turn to throw the axes, the owner showed us the proper way to throw the axe. Take the axe over your head. Hold the axe in your primary hand and wrap your non dominant hand over the dominant hand. have your dominant foot forward. with 2 steps, release the axe when in the middle of the 2nd step. surprisingly, this was easier than expected. Each one of the members in my party was able to hit the bullseye after a few tries. The competition aspect of the game made it more fun, scoring and playing against each other. With the facility. The night we went was not that busy, but it looks like they have an area for live music to be played. They also have a small 'wine / beer' bar where they served basic alcohol. It was definitely nice that they didn't 'nickel and dime' you when the hour came up. they let us finish our games without charging extra for the overflowing into the next hour. (we finished up 10 minutes after the next hour started) Overall, this was such a fun way to kill some time. Highly recommend this location and look forward to doing this again in the future.

They took so much time teaching her how to throw. We had a great evening. Great service, great atmosphere and the 80's rock music was great. Definitely recommend!

Three Stars -- Only Because My Family Made It Fun…read more My family of eight did our best to make this an enjoyable outing, and honestly, we are the reason it ended up being fun at all. The concept of an "epic game show experience" is there, but the execution really misses the mark. When you walk in, the entire setup is basically right at the door. The waiting/lounge area sits in the middle, and the adults-only game show is in the back--right next to the bathrooms. This layout became a big distraction. While we were playing, multiple people walked in and stood right beside us as the host kept going. A manager even came out to explain the experience to them while we were trying to hear our host. We played Family Feud for about 30 minutes, which felt at least 15 minutes too long. Our family still had fun, but that's because we enjoy games and can make anything entertaining at home. The setup itself felt very cheap. "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" lasted about 10 minutes with questions that didn't feel well thought out. "The Price Is Right" involved sorting Walgreens items into piles. Then we did flip‑cup tic‑tac‑toe on a fold‑out table with duct tape lines. The biggest issue is the host. I don't want to be rude, but he just wasn't very good, and that really matters in an experience like this. Overall, this felt like a low-budget setup with a halfhearted attempt at creating a game show atmosphere. My family made the best of it, but the experience itself needs major improvement.
