    Tomato curry ramen
    Daniel C.

Went when they first opened last month. Since they specialize in curry ramen we got a tomato curry ramen and one tonkotsu. They were both pretty good. No complaints. Don't know if the style differentiated from other ramen restaurants but it was yummy. The inari appetizer was quite nice and a good way to pair some extra goodies with the meal. To be honest, many of their house made items were quite fun and really added to the experience, like the cucumber sunomono. Best part is it is conveniently located next to IKEA and Canadian Tire so you can come here after shopping or even go to ikea and get dessert. They are a short walk away. The one downside is they only have a very small bar style seating at the front window. I think it can only accommodate two or three people. Also, the seats are right under where the vent points so it can get very chilly (or I guess hot if it's the winter). I'm guessing most people get takeout. But the service was nice and you get to see cute ikea trays if you stay lol.

Brand new kyoto style Japanese restaurant. They are located close by the sheppard Ikea. It's interesting that they serve kyoto curry ramen. It was very flavourful and the curry doesn't overpower the rest of the noodles. I find the pressed spinach very unique. It was like a roll of dense spinach roll. The nori is placed in a packaging on the side of your tray so when you are ready you can add it into your ramen without getting soggy. The issai tonkotsu ramen was on the lighter flavour side and the noodles were not the wavy ramen in the curry ramen. I personally preferred the wavy ramen and the curry broth. On the menu, you will see a choice of single and teishoku. The Teishoku is $5 more expensive. Teishoku (定食) is a type of restaurant meal that is composed of a pre-selected list of dishes. It comes with a daily suonomo, which is a salad, today they served a seaweed and cucumber salad, daily Inari and the ramen. If you order single, it's just the ramen. The Housemade shumai was made in house, it was nice and big topped with tobiko. As a side note, this restaurant is more for take out as there is only two seats available for dine in. Now there is a cash special of 10% off when you pay cash. Free takoyaki with in store purchase of $35 or more (before tax). Interesting experience and nice addition to the neighbourhood!

I wanted to try their special Softshell Crab ramen that was available for a limited time. The broth was made with crab infused tonkotsu. I am a big fan of crab and the crab flavour really came across strong. Very delicious and I hope everyone gets to try. I always want something crispy to go with my ramen and ordered the chicken karaage which was veey good as well. Made fresh and the pieces were decent. Top it off with a squeeze of lemon and its so good. Crab Ramen was $22 and the Chicken Karaage was $10

I've seen Ajisen all around the world, and I never tried it up until today. With over 700 locations…read moreworldwide, they must be doing something right! This one is right in my neighborhood and they were doing a buy-one-get-one promotion for Ajisen day, so I thought it was the perfect time to try it. The promotion was for their Original Ajisen ramen, which is $15.99 normally. For the normal price, I'd say the portion and flavour is a lacking. Of course, for the BOGO price, I was happy. I did also appreciate that they give a bigger portion of pork than other ramen places. However, the broth is pretty salty and I'm not a huge fan of when I can see the oil separating from the rest of the soup. The noodle texture and egg runniness were good. But all in all, I would not say it is worth the normal price of $15.99. The service was fine and pretty fast. However, since it was Ajisen Day, they likely planned for higher amounts of traffic so it may not be representative of a normal day.
