6 Year Update (Nov. 2023): This Public Storage location is still one of the nicest-maintained…read morebuildings I have used, with everything in good working condition and no signs of disrepair. The climate control always has the unit at a reasonably comfortable temperature all year round. I've seen no evidence of any kind of leaking (which I can't say about my previous X-Tra Storage unit in Wheeling and A.Smith's Storage in North Chicago). The large cargo elevators are in good shape, and move quickly and quietly between the 3 floors. There is a digital access panel that requires a code to enter the storage area. The dolly carts provided have seen a lot of miles, but are still all in good shape with no wobbling or weirdness. They also have hand trucks available upon request (along with boxes and packing supplies for sale). The facilities, along with the bathrooms and office, are always clean. I like that the entire facility is well lit, with motion-sensing lights in the hallway, and clear lines of sight through the halls. Police frequent the plaza that its in, and there are security cameras all inside and outside of the building, so it should be fairly safe at all hours. They state they're open Mon ~ Sun, 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, but I've successfully accessed my unit a little earlier and a little later. Any time I've run into staff, they're courteous and attentive. Price-wise, this location is fair. Shop online, and you can get some really good promotional rates. We got a 10" W x 5" D unit for $70 for the first year, and $100-ish after the year (we opted for our own insurance coverage, where we had to provide pictures and account info to Allstate). We wanted to use our own lock, but they made us use their lock at no additional charge. It's a decent quality Master no. 40 70mm discus-style padlock with hardened shrouded shackle, but a so-so 4 pin cylinder that's jiggle resistant but easy-ish for a journeyman to pick with the right tools and a few minutes. Fortunately, I don't have anything too valuable, otherwise I might insist on them allowing me use a better lock. Avoid coming here around 9am and 5pm. The Public Storage shares the plaza with several office buildings, and there's only one way in and out on Pfingsten Rd. for everyone. At 9am and 5pm, there can be a little bit of a traffic backup, as all those folks are commuting to and from the surrounding offices.

BAIT & SWITCH - price WILL go up so be careful…read more Fantastic location. Units are good. Locked elevator access and good location. Sounds great, right? I've had better customer service at the DMV. When I was mostly moved in, I had the pleasure of meeting a nice woman who moved here from New Orleans. She shared that she was moving out of a 10 x 15 unit. When I asked why, she said the initial cost was around $150, and in just 2 years they had raised it to almost $450 / mo. YES, you read that right. Now, I cannot verify her costs, but I can tell you that when I moved in to a 10 x 10 space, the cost was $89 / mo. In just over a year they have raised to cost to almost $200 / mo. More than double the cost in 1 year? After roughly 5 months it went to $134. This is a shame because I would have stayed in this unit for a decade. Based on my exponential calculations, the cost would be $102,400 / mo if they keep doubling it every year. I decided to get out. I met a nice couple when I moved out and mentioned the increases to them. The guy said to me, "Yeah, you need to move to a different unit every 6 months or you'll be in trouble." He was literally moving his boxes from one space to another one next to it. What? Maybe Public Storage Deerfield could have simply kept charging him the rate he was paying so he could avoid this hassle. I moved out a couple days into the month and had to online chat them since the 'on location' gentleman (who is nowhere to be found most of the time) told me he had to leave and go to the other location. He is never available, but suddenly became VERY available when I put a few things near the dumpster. He came up to me and said "Yeah there's no dumping in the dumpster. I saw you putting a few things there on my cameras." I replied, "I am a paying tenant right now." He said, "That's for me, not the tenants." Then he shared I would be charged $250 if I left the garbage by the dumpster. So I had to make another trip to gather that and take it away. He left and told me to close the account with chat since he didn't have time to do it. I cancelled with online chat and asked for a pro-rated refund for the remaining 27 days. They said no. I asked if there is anything they can do and they told me that it's in the contract, and they will not send any prorated refunds. Beware of this as well. You're better off finding a quality storage house that takes care of their customers and actually rewards them for paying and staying.

I also forwarded this email to the FMCSA where I've already filed a formal complaint. I want Spark to work with us to get the insurance claim filed/settled. To date they have been unresponsive to my broker and MovingClaims. 5/6/19 To whom it may concern (Spark Moving), I am writing to personally address your company about my recent claim with MovingClaims.net and I'm asking your company to be timely and responsive through this process so we can come up with a resolution sooner rather than later. Missing items: 55in Westinghouse TV Kitchen box: Mr. Coffee coffee maker, 3 Yeti 20oz travel mugs, 1 Arctic 20oz travel mug. I had to send back items on 2 occasions during the delivery because the driver tried giving me items that weren't mine. I'm assuming that's where my TV and missing kitchen box went. Damaged items: Broken sectional couch frame and torn fabric (underside), torn fabric headboard, Sanyo WiFi ready blue ray player broken, some bowls broken, glasses cracked/broken. And kitchen table top cracked and scratched (clearly dropped). *I have pictures of all of these damages. Unfulfilled paid work/Other: Your delivery driver (one worker) dropped my items and did not reassemble any of the furniture. A new local acquaintance I met here helped your driver unload the truck. There were also several delivery delays causing me to miss or rearrange work. Hopefully we can resolve this through movingclaims.net and further legal action will not be required. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Ashley M. McDonough, MBA 5/10/19 I am having an impossible time getting Spark to reply to emails so we can move forward with my claim. I've asked multiple times for them to provide me with the required documentation and they are flat out being non-responsive. The broker who has been semi-useful up to this point is no longer being useful either. DO NOT USE GOLD STANDARD RELOCATION. Now that the move is done they have quit on their responsibilities to help me with things like claims. Furthermore they did zero vetting on this joke of a company (Spark Moving). Spark HAD a Facebook page but had since deleted since so many people fucked out by then we're communicating and organizing to file a class action lawsuit. Do not use this company. If you were one of the people talking on Facebook and want to organize a lawsuit let's exchange emails and move forward. I'm attaching the email I've sent multiple times requesting docume

Pricing was competitive compared to other movers I found on Craigslist especially they gave me free in home estimates, on top of that they were available.. lifesaver!! My mom had so much kitchenware and fragile stuff I was stressing out because I had no time to pre-packaged them before the movers came, ended up that the movers were able to carefully wrap them in blankets, and provided bins, wooden crates, basically did all the work. The movers were super cool and polite, especially my mom that can't speak English they were still very kind. When the belongings arrived, the movers even assisted with unpacking everything as well. They were so fast and efficient, everything was brought in carefully without scratching our hardwood floors. Thank you Kerb Movers!!

If you've never hired movers before, it will CHANGE your life! There is something beautiful about just pointing at things, and having people package it and move it. You just can't go back after that. I've hired a bunch of movers in the past, but none come close to the professionalism and kindness of the guys at Kerb. Kerb also does not nickel and dime you for everything. It comes with moving blankets and those plastic wraps for smaller items, free of charge. Highly recommend Kerb for anyone trying to move from Chicago to LA!
