The flavors! The textures! The ingredients! So delicious and satisfying. Wonderful vibe and people there when I went to pick up the food.

Small combo. Don't forget the hot sauce

This is a takeout shop which is so yummy. It was recommended to me by multiple people. We had a business lunch at Centennial College and ordered from them for pick up. Everything was absolutely succulent. It is a vegan restaurant and they have figured out how to make the most yummy food. The rice and pea is fantastic. I also had the collard greens and some couscous. And then I had a spicy mock chicken. It was beautiful textured, and the flavour was really excellent. It came with a small amount of undressed salad. Which was perfect because there was so much flavour in the rest of the food. The service was quite fast as well. I will definitely go back there again.

Switched it up a while ago still neat

Mm I love this place. It's by the main road on pharmacy and has 4 parking spaces. If its full, you can park on the side of the road temporarily. The lady who served us was nice and told us how it works. Size: Small ($10) or Large ($15) 1. Base - rice, quinoa, and another option (they ran out, don't know what it's called) * Choose 1 but you can mix and match 2. Veggies - okra, curry cauliflower, chickpeas, cabbage, callaloo greens * Choose 2 3. Protein - BBQ, and chicken or drumstick? *Choose 1 4. Salad - arugula, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, alfalfa, mixed greens *Choose 3 Lastly, you'll be asked if you want hot sauce or not. We also ordered the shakes/smoothies. I like the taste of "healthy". It has a distinct taste. Although I know some ppl are not a fond of healthy tasting drinks/food. $7 per shake. Spirulina Shake reminds me of Vega protein shake. Maybe it is? It's thin in consistency. Irish Moss shake has a thicker consistency. Kinda reminds me of a healthy cookies and cream with a touch of hazelnut. We had 2 small orders and 1 shake each, totaling to $41. It is quite pricey with the drinks but if you order the dish only, it's a gem! Portions are HUGE! I can't finish the small size. Would def go back and I highly recommend this place. On a good note, it's also Vegan (which is a plus). If you want an affordable hearty meal without feeling guilty, this is the place to go to.

Food was fresh and affordable! I love the quinoa option and the fact that fresh veggies and chunks of seitan topped up the two veggies and one grain combo. Would totally recommend this place. Perfect place for VEGAN Jamaican takeout! Clerk/owner was super friendly as well! Love how full my container was! Definitely coming back, especially since it's just minutes away from an open grass area and trail, Ashtonbee Reservoir Park!

A Rastafarian place with two locations, one in Kensington and one in Scarborough! I visited the one in Scarborough on a hot day. It's a pretty small store with not much seating and no AC, but decorated so nicely. The food was delicious!!! They sell vegan food in small or large platters, different options for base and toppings. The food was so flavourful and each had their own unique taste. I shared a large with my friend and it was more than enough for the both of us with leftovers to take home. We also tried one of their juices which was really refreshing. The lemon raspberry cake was AMAZING. It's vegan and not dry at all! So much flavour! I would love to come back. It's nice to eat in but small so takeout would be a good option. If you live in Scarborough it's worth a visit!!!

I discovered this hidden gem thanks to Yelp! It's small and tucked away with limited seating. No frills, just honest, good food at a great price! The test of any vegan restaurant is whether or not an omnivore would eat there or if it's only catering to vegan people. I can happily say this place is for everyone, as there is so much variety and flavour, you will not miss not having meat. The portions are huge and the fresh juices are to die for on a hot summer day. I've enjoyed everything I've had here, especially the eggplant and okra dishes, as well as their famous BBQ tofu "ribs". This is a great place for healthy take out!

The most amazing vegan cuisine I've ever tasted and I'm not a vegan. Seriously, who knew tofu could taste like that. EVERYTHING was outstanding. And super fresh. Ok you'll have to know that it's a hole in the wall type of eatery. Don't let that scare you. And the regulars all know how to order but they are happy to explain how it works so just ask what everything is. All the options are displayed and the menu changes daily. But the one thing everyone goes there for is the bbq mix. I was almost 100% certain it was actual meat but it is not. Whatever they do it it turns tofu into something absolutely incredible. They have desserts including non-dairy cheesecake and amazing cookies. Can't wait to come back. Went two days in a row on my 5 day trip to Toronto.

3.5/5 After seeing Ital Vital at the Veggie Food Fest last weekend at Harbour Front, I thought I would stop by and check it out. First, the restaurant is a bit difficult to find and you will have to park on a side street most likely, so be prepared for that. After not seeing a menu online, I tried my luck and called to see if I could order takeout - but the restaurant is a choose your own, owner-served buffet style type - so ordering takeout is difficult, but not impossible if you know what you want. Ital Vital is very small but has a clean appearance and is very aromatic. There was a line when I went, and others around me said there is typically a line no matter what time you go. The wait time was about 8 minutes, but it passed by quickly. The pricing is $10 for a small plate and $15 for a large. The serving sizes are quite generous so take that into account when ordering. The service is also friendly and they take time to explain what side dish is what. Everything at this restaurant is vegetarian, which I absolutely love! When I got home, although the drive was quite a distance, the food was still hot and fresh. The food tastes great and has very unique flavours. The soy BBQ "steak" (comes with every meal) tastes very similar to real meat. However, be warned about the extremely deadly hot sauce. Unknowingly, I drizzled some of it on my rice, and it would be an understatement to say my mouth was on fire. If you can handle extreme heat, by all means...otherwise stay away. As I completed my meal I really appreciated the time an effort put into each side dish made from the stewed vegetables to the macaroni to the chick peas. All of it was quite delicious. This rating lost stars from me because of the distance and wait time, but all in all, a solid choice especially if you are in the area.

We ordered to go and ate at my place... Soul food at its best!

Fabulous Carribean food! Yelpers on here helped me find this hidden gem. The server here was so inviting, she explained all the curries to us. We ended up going with a small container, but it was stuffed to the top. Ww went with the rice, a side of pumpkin curry, spinach curry, lentil curry and the chicken. You only have a choice of two, but they gave us three cause it was our first time, you know what? Ask for three but offer to pay extra, it's so hard picking from all those curries and some of everything made the meal amazing! They topped it off with some arugula, tomatoes and fresh cucumbers. The flavours... this the place for soul food, comfort food!

Ital vital is a vegan takeout restaurant in Scarborough and it is absolutely delicious, whether or not you are vegan yourself. If you are looking for caribbean style food that tastes like it was cooked at home, this is the place for you. Be sure to go there earlier in the day for the best selection of foods (before their last hour of operation for the day). The portion sizes are huge and the staff are some of the friendliest in the city. My plate had rice and peas, plantain, callaloo, zucchini stew, stew peas, salad, bbq soy dish, and a tofu drumstick. Drooling yet? They also have quinoa, curry dishes and great drinks like irish moss, peanut punch, spirulina smoothies etc. This restaurant is delicious and guilt-free! Me and my family are regulars.

Ital Vital is a Caribbean/Rastafarian vegetarian mom and pops restaurant/juice bar located in a small corner plaza on Pharmacy Ave in Scarborough. Seating is limited inside and it's more of a takeout place. Parking is also really limited, so most people park on Leahurst Dr. and walk over. I'm not a vegetarian but I try and eat healthy on a regular basis. It's really important what you put into your body but I don't find most vegetarian places too appealing from a taste perspective but Ital Vital is really delicious even from a non vegetarian perspective. I normally order a small box ($10 tax included) which consists of either rice or noodles with a main, two sides, a salad and plaintain. I normally get the soy tofu bbq ribs as the main with noodles and okra and roasted vegetables as the two sides. It also comes with a salad and some plaintain. The noodles are okay, the okra and roasted vegetables are nicely done but the standout is the soy tofu bbq ribs. The soy tofu bbq ribs taste like the real thing and are really good. The whole meal is pretty filling and reasonably priced at $10 tax included. Ital Vital is a really good and healthy food option that makes tasty food that is appealing to vegetarians and non vegetarians. It's also very reasonably priced.

They use the highest quality organic fruits and vegetables and are most famous for their cold-pressed juices. Instead of getting a cold-pressed juice, I decided to get one of their açai bowls. Here's my rundown: Food There were three açai bowls to choose from - classic, beauty, and soul. I got the beauty açai bowl which had the açai, avocado, coconut oil, and almond milk blend topped with bananas, granola, coconut flakes and fresh strawberries. The açai blend was smooth and rich in flavour while the fresh fruit and oats made for great flavours and textures. It was a very refreshing treat to get and had the perfect balance between all ingredients. Atmosphere Can't really comment on the atmosphere here because the store is quite small and has minimal seating. There were about 4 high chairs to sit but it's more meant to be used while you're waiting for your drinks or bowls. It's small like most downtown cafés and this place is more so for those grab and go type of people. Service Service was really friendly and the employee was helpful in helping me make a decision about the type of bowl to get. No complaints here; they were really inviting and patient with my indecisiveness. Price I paid $10 for the açai bowl! A little pricy but you're paying for quality organic food here so it's worth every dollar. Verdict Refresh is indeed a refreshing experience has they use only the finest organic fruits to make their products. I'm excited to return here to try their juices and other açai bowls. Definitely worth a try if you're roaming around downtown Guelph. A well-deserved 5/5 experience!

After spending an afternoon with friends last Sunday, I decided to check out this The Big Carrot store. The first store still exists on the Danforth, which I enjoy frequenting when I'm in the neighbourhood. This location is the second one situated in the Beaches, which is where I grew up. I attended high school a few blocks away from this store. Back in the day, the southeast corner of Southwood Drive and Kingston Road had a donut shop called Dip 'n Sip. I would cut through the parking lot to head southbound on Southwood to head home. This donut shop was a hangout for bikers and students from my high school. It wasn't my thing, but it's weird that I couldn't cut through the parking lot. A six-story condo building occupies this corner, with this The Big Carrot on the main floor. My concern has always been where to park if you wanted to visit this store. I followed a sign that led me to underground parking in a laneway behind the building. Nice! I like that there's an automatic garage door. It keeps your car cool in the summertime and free of precipitation outside. I went through the door leading to the elevator. You can grab a cart before you head upstairs. I didn't know whether I needed a ton of groceries, so I simply went up the elevator to the main floor. I then walked through the door. The Big Carrot is the local version of Whole Foods Market. You can find everything from coffee beans with a grinder, to individual portions of a steak in the meat section. I loved looking at grab-and-go meals. The chicken pot pie looked so good. I was tempted to get one, but I had made a lot of food at home. Next time! I find this place fancy when you get the rotisserie chicken section and it has herbes de provence all over each whole chicken. Wow! I like frequenting grocery stores. They open my eyes and tastebuds. Lemony hummus? Sounds great! Organic red watermelon chunks? They were such a glowing red that it stopped me in my tracks. The produce looked exceptionally fresh. I was a happy camper looking at healthy basil plants. I nearly bought one! This place has food that caters to various dietary needs. I saw gluten-free wraps and Daiya cheeze, for instance. There's a smoothie bar. It was busy with a couple of folks in line waiting for their smoothies. I saw hair dyes with natural ingredients. I also saw face wash, cleaners, and more. This store carries the Andalou line of lotions, toners, and more that I like. The drinks section is incredible. I saw raspberry mojitos in a four-pack of cans that looked appealing. If you don't want to commit to a pack of drinks, you can get individual ones that are nicely chilled in the fridge. This place has comparable prices on individual cans of Zevia. A can goes for $1.69, which is the same price at Whole Foods. I picked up a can of Zevia root beer and a can of Crazy D's cherry cola. I headed to the checkout area. The woman who cashed me out was nice. She asked me if I had a rewards card. I didn't. She got me one and said that I simply needed to sign up for a free online account to activate it. Cool! I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and headed to the elevator to get to my car. I had the cherry cola as I headed home. I wasn't crazy about this Crazy D's flavour. It's a prebiotic cola. I don't mind it. It simply didn't taste like cherries, likely because it had lime and lemon mixed in. It tasted more like a subtle, watery fruit punch. I love Zevia root beer, which made up for the horrible cherry cola. It was creamy and tasted like good root beer, but without the sugar. I enjoyed my visit to this grocery store at long last. I hope to drop by more often when I'm in the neighbourhood, now that I know where to park! (206)

Large portions and flavourful add ons. I love to add the chutney, scotty pickle and creamy sauces. Only downside is I would prefer if they used bone in chicken for the jerk items. I've also tried the chicken roti. The filling, sauce, chickpeas and potatoes are delish but the roti bread itself could be lighter and softer. A few times I've ordered the roti felt more like a thin pita instead of a roti. Parking at the Markham location can be difficult as it is off the main road (Hwy 7) which is busy at all hours of the day so there's no avoiding that and there are only so many spaces.

The tropical hot sauce was the icing on the cake, or in this case, the bowl. I wish I ordered a spicier sauce because the medium felt more like a step up from mild but not quite medium. My one complaint regarding this is that because they are served in pie trays with plastic covers, there's no real way of hearing this back up unless you have plates. So be aware of this if you're ordering this for delivery at a hotel and be sure to ask your hotel for plates. All in all a great experience and would eat it again if I come back to Toronto.
