Yes! Yes! I had their cannoli. The lady customized the cannoli with the filling if your choice. My personal favourite is lemon, tiramisu and coffee. How can you go wrong with those flavours??? You just can't! And if you don't like them... well, to each their own. I would have loved to try their other desserts but at $4.50 per mini cannoli, I simply couldn't afford anything else after buying 9 of those minis. If I wasn't heading to the fair, I likely would've loaded up on some more sweet treats The panini was pretty filling and had a nice amount of melted swiss inside after grilling -- I think it's solid but nothing special. The 0.5 docked from 4 stars would be because I was severely underwhelmed by the hot chocolate, not only it was scalding hot when I got it but it wasn't super rich or flavourful (a bit watered down to me). However, I would come back to try more pastries! I've had their cannolis previously and enjoyed them but this time, the limoncello puff blew me away! There was a spectacular amount of cream inside and it had a rich tartness unlike a regular lemon pastry (what I can assume is what limoncello tastes like despite having never had it before). Not only is the service shitty, it looks as though the bakery items are not selling. The bread really sucks and when I tried the other baked goodies they were not all that good either. A bit disappointed. I thought this bakery was authentic Italian bakery. The quality of cakes are similar to Save On Foods or other grocery stores level. We bought a slice of cheese cake, Black Forest cake and lemon cake. The cheese cake was really dense and hard crumble. Black Forest cake was similar to what you get at an ordinary grocery store. Lemon cake was dry and really artificial flavors of lemon. I guess my expectation was similar to other authentic Italian bakery. But that's not the case here. read more

Atrocious service, no quality control and inedible food!!!! Called to reserve 1/4 tomato slab pizza. They required a credit card number which I reluctantly gave. Travelled an hour to pick up the pizza and when I walked in you could tell things had changed and not for the better! Gave my name and the pizza was handed to me I immediately said it is dry! There was no tomatoes on the top. I wanted to also purchase cannoli, as the pizza and cannoli's are my friends favourites and it was her 70th birthday. They had no original cannoli filling! They did have other fillings which consisted of bright florescent yellow for vanilla and bright florescent green for pistachio as well as others. Took a step back and pondered my situation, as I wanted to bring a smile to my friends face and it didn't look like that was going to occur. Noticed there were 4-1/4 slabs of pizza in the freezer. That is unheard of as it is usually sold out quickly, thus having to reserve it!!! If you know, you know! So many red flags!!! The older server, with grey hair and obviously not Italian, refused to give me a refund!!! I mentioned that it was NOT the same pizza they use to have and she said it was. I said not even close! She said it was. I said surely not!!! I asked if the owner has changed and they said yes. I walked out! Where has quality control and customer service gone????? Usually the place was packed with customers and there were just 4 in the time I had spent there. 2 had walked out as what they were looking for could not be found. Emailed Sheldon, the Director, with my concerns and sent photos and requested a refund. I received a reply from Tina, no title, and she said there would be no refund. I asked that Sheldon reply as she was not the one I emailed! He replied that he was not in the store so his colleague replied. Being in the store or not, you have eyes to see the images and could read the complaint!!!!!! If I had agreed to purchase a mug and it was chipped, would I have to accept?????? Buongiorno! I missed the big Italian Day festival on The Drive (Commercial Drive, Vancouver) back in June due to prior commitments. That's where I'd usually try a different flavour Cannoli - every couple of years. To make up for missing the big festival, I headed to Italia Bakery to get my Cannoli fix. This is the location for Cannoli King. It is a tidy bakery with lots of baked goods - pastries, cookies, cakes & Cannoli. CK uses 100% ricotta cheese & has been in Vancouver for 40 years via Sicily. I've tried a lot of flavours - Pistachio, Nutella, Coffee, Tiramisu etcetera ... I could go on but you get the point. Service is prompt, friendly & helpful - ask questions if you're unsure about what you want to get. There's limited seating, plenty options & a well spaced out interior at this bakery. I'll be honest, my taste for Cannoli goes up & down depending on my taste buds on that particular day. While your there, why not try an Espresso with an Italian cake. I love that they offer cannolis here because they are hard to find. They offer a variety of cannoli flavours in the bakery and we chose a few of our favs to try out. Lemon - fresh pop of lemon flavour within the lemon custard. It wasn't too sweet and the cannoli had a crunch on the outside Pistachio - Wish it had more pistachio flavour because it was just a hint of it. Would have loved more crushed pistachios as well Tiramisu - Perfect blend of coffee flavours! Custard was smooth and velvety. Today, Monday 13 Jan, was my third time in to buy some of the mini pizza. The pizzas are delicious but the counter service is TERRIBLE. The 3 ladies on today at lunch time are so slow. While you are waiting to be served they will walk outside and chat with someone at their car (I watched this today with the Asian lady) or while you're waiting to be served they will start washing dishes (one of the younger ladies). I don't know why I didn't know about this amazing bakery until recently. They offer a range of Italian products including deli meats, breads, pastries, custom cakes, sandwiches, and coffee. Also known for their famous cannoli. I bake a lot and can tell their baked products are not only top notch but tasty. I had their almond croissant and easily could of eaten a couple (that delish). The almond paste filling wasn't too sweet and tasted fresh. Tucked away in a strip mall, there's parking out front or on Hastings. Located close to the PNE. Quality and prices are reasonable. An awesome Italian bakery for Tiramisu. Not necessarily the cheapest of cakes, but in terms of quality and taste, their tiramisu is amazing in that it tastes authentically Italian (lots of marscapone cheese!). Staff are super friendly and there is free parking out front in the mini plaza (although the stalls are a bit narrow). They have pre-made cakes in the cooler, but to be sure the cake you want is there, I would pre-order your cake (they will ask you to pay ahead of time with your credit card). I believe the tiramisu cakes are pre-made/frozen, as the staff will instruct you to thaw the cake for 2 hours at room temperature. It was a little icy/frozen in the middle, but it was really amazing! They are also famous for their cannoli's (which I've had before), but I'm not a cannoli expert, I think they were ok. I highly recommend going to this place for their Italian cakes. Who knew an Italian bakery would make the best apple pie! My entire family loves apple pie. Therefore, anytime we find a place that sells it, we try it out. I've had the aforementioned pie from a number of places in the city (The Pie Hole, The Pie Shoppe, Half Baked Cookie Company - all known by locals as pie staples), and thought they were excellent...until I had this one from Italia Bakery. Everything else pales in comparison! The crust is absolutely dreamy! Golden, buttery, flaky, and thick (but not so much so that it ruins the ratio of crust to filling), with an inviting sprinkle of caramelized sugar on top. The apples in the filling remain a bit crisp and a little tart, which counterbalances the sweetness and also allows for the cinnamon to shine. What's funny about this discovery was that I didn't want the apple pie when we purchased it! I was there to pick up a cannoli tower from Cannoli King (see separate review on that) with my mom. While we were in the store, she ordered a boxful of cookies for herself and then noticed a sign advertising fruit pies. She asked if they had apple, I protested that we had too many sweets already, she went ahead and purchased it, and the rest is history! *sigh* how is it that mothers always know best? read more

Stumbled upon this bakery after eating at Tama Organic Life next door (will post that review shortly). The store is pretty big, and even has Cannoli King cannolis. I've never really had italian baked goods before, so obviously I had to try some. Baci Cannoli (3.5/5) This was pretty decent. It was filled with hazelnut cream on one end and chocolate cream on the other. The wafer was super crispy as well. Coffee Cannoli (3.5/5) I prefer this to the Baci as it had a stronger taste. However, after eating both cannolis I realised that I'm not the biggest fan of cannoli, and neither is my dad. Nutella Ring (3/5) The chocolate on this tasted a little artificial and was way too sweet. The cookie itself was pretty good, but I didn't really like the other components. Peanut Butter Cookie (4/5) This was my dad's favourite and he loved it so much he got three more. While I thought it was good, it was a little too sweet for me and I also had the same issue with the chocolate coating, though it was better than the Nutella one. Taralli (2/5) I didn't like this one. It tasted a little like a merengue, and I hate merengues. Basically it tasted like sugar coated in a sugar glaze. Hard pass. Coffee (4/5) I don't drink coffee, but my parents liked it. Tiramisu (3/5) Got this to go, but my mom hasn't tried it yet so idk how good it is since I don't like tiramisu. UPDATE: It was okay, but nothing really worth mentioning. Overall, I would say this place is pretty average and not really that worth it to me since I live almost an hour away. You might have heard of their name or seen their food truck before at PNE and events of Vancouver. But did you know that they've been locally handcrafting Sicilian Cannoli for over 35 years? Everything is made from scratch from their dough to their delicious fillings. We tried their sampler plate for $9 where you can get 3 types of mini cannolis of your choice, with our choices being pistachio, coffee, and raspberry. The pistachio had a powerful attractive aroma of nutty flavours; the coffee was rich in flavour, and the raspberry with white chocolate bits on the side will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. Not knowing anything about Italia Bakery, my husband and I decided to buy a few items from here. We will be repeat customers, that's for sure! Personal 3" Cheesecake - Moist and fresh with a crumbly but light crust, -this was my favorite. I'm sure 2 people can share this, but why share??!! Hazelnut Cannoli - Fluffy and light, but bursting with chocolate and hazelnut Meatballs - In the frozen section so you can bring it home to cook yourself. We cooked it that same night in some tomato sauce until it was hot all the way through and it was delicious. Seemed to be priced a little high at $1 a meatball, but worth the purchase. Risotto Balls - Also in the frozen section. You can bring it home to put into your oven and it only takes 16-18mins. The quickest way to enjoy a savoury treat/appee. The other sauvoury to go items such as mini pizza and sandwiches, I'd stay away from. I didn't find them particular good and priced too high. Not worth it. read more

Such a cute Italian Bakery in East Village! The cannolis are amazing! The shell is one of the best I have ever had! The ricotta filling is delicious...I have tried the following: Coffee - Yum Traditional Sicilian -Yum Pistachio - Yum...my favourite! They have a great selection of baked goods as well as some really good authentic Italian ingredients to buy for a little Italian cooking at home! I grabbed some fresh pizza dough and I am excited to make some flatbreads with it! I will stop here anytime I'm in the area if it's open...closes at 6:00pm! Triple Chocolate Mousse cake. I LOVE YOU. You taste like heaven. My neighbourhood's friendly Italian bakery. Seriously, I've never seen a triple choco mousse cake come in so many sizes. Choco mousse cake aside, this place has really neat and authentic Italian desserts at good prices! And they're pretty big at times too. I admit, half of them I haven't heard of, but just looking at them through the glass display makes me want to try every single one. I'm getting there, too. I went yesterday, and we had gotten about 5 desserts picked out; the lady at the counter was also nice to mention that adding two more would mean no tax on our purchase, how nice! I actually managed to finally try the famous ricotta filled cannoli at the PNE this year, from their "Cannoli King" truck. It was very good but overpriced because they charged $4.00 per tiny cannoli rather than the usual $2.59 that they charge at their restaurant. Anyways, I docked off a star because of the price discrepancy but I guess rent at the PNE is very expensive. I would definitely like to go to the real restaurant someday to try out their hazelnut cannolis and maybe their creamhorns. read more

After seeing Marc D.'s photo of espresso, I felt like I had to get some espresso here. I was pleased. The espresso was really amazing! They won't have to-go cups for these though (unless you don't mind the standard-size coffee traveler cups). I had an almond biscotti to go with it. Now I don't know if this is really how Italians tend to make biscottis, but the biscotti was a lot stiffer than what I'm used to. It was rock hard! I normally like hard biscotti, but not THAT hard; it was like having Gobstopper candy. On any given day, I'd definitely dip biscotti in my espresso for the sheer joy of it, but in this case, it was absolutely necessary so that my biscotti was easier to bite into. I didn't try anything else there, but the display looked pretty nice! It had some classic Italian treats with some other European and American treats. I wish they re-labelled their vanilla slices as mille-feuilles (but that's just me being a francophile). read more

I've been here many times and each time it's for their sweets. I have to say all the sweets are really good but just wished they had some seating for people. They offer a small range of coffee as it is an Italian place after all. Their cheesecake is the perfect size for me to snack on. The one in the display case is about 2" topped with some fruits and it's priced at $3.49 i think. Not bad for something you just want to snack on. They also offer other cakes in full sizes in the other display cases on the right side of the store. I got one before for a birthday. It was really good but a few of our guests felt it was a be too sweet. Overall, reasonable priced pastries and good cakes. I would suggest you to check this place out. The cannoli here are to. die. for. They are filled when you order them, so they remain light and fluffy with a beautiful pastry crunch and soft velvety ricotta. Just crazy delicious. But the amaretti are my favourite. In fact, I am going to go there this weekend and buy some just so I can take a picture and post it here - they are all hand-made (obviously - this is a very authentic artisan Italian bakery - and family-run), and they taste incredible - the perfect soft chewy centre with a perfect crispy outside. Great almondy taste and not too sweet. I have ne'er tasted anything as delicious as when I ordered macarons de pistache in a small bakery in Paris and almost lost my mind (the delicious memory still haunts me), but these amaretti come pretty darn close. They also have in-house-made frozen entrees, pasta, meatballs, etc. in their freezer available for purchase. I've had the veggie lasagna - super flavourful, beautiful home-made taste. Someone clearly CARED about this lasagna when they were making it. Only thing to consider is that you will generally want to order your delicious things and head somewhere else to enjoy them, as there's nowhere really to sit and chill for a bit. But it is a pretty high-traffic bakery and I don't think the point is really to have people stay and read a book so you may want to take that cannoli + cappuccino to go. read more

How could I have lived in this neighborhood most of my life and not know of this place? It was after I finished eating at Pho Don that I looked in this place which is a few feet away. I ordered a few pastries, a habit of mine whenever I see a bake shop. Wow! Everything tasted fresh and no artificial ingredients! Lemon tarts were real lemon, Neapolitan the way it should taste and a few other things I gobbled so fast I can't remember what I ate. I normally have the St. Honore cake from Fratelli on Commercial Drive but it tastes like their quality has gone .The cream doesn't taste like dairy and overall not very fresh. I tried a few cakes from Italia and now it'll be the go-to place for St. Honore. Just when I thought this was amazingly delicious I had to try the freshly piped cannoli as suggested on reviews. WOW! I'm not even a cannoli fan but this was out of this world! Not only do they have pastries, they sell bread, prepared home meals, and now they make sandwiches. Italia Bakery just celebrated their 25th anniversary and sold 300 dozen cannoli! Well I didn't buy them, but I just heard about it when I went in last weekend. I came here finally based on Marc D.'s review after reading it for 2 years. I have been craving sfogliatelle since I came back from Naples in Aug 2008. This rendition of it wasn't quite like my neapolitan experience--it was more cinnamon-y. And not the natural ground cinnamon flavour either, but rather a cinnamon extract flavour. I'm not sure it was my favorite experience... The cannoli on the other hand... I got two, one hazelnut chocolate and ne ricotta. The Ricotta cannoli was excellent! So good. So fresh. And it didn't taste like there were any extracts or additives. The chocolate hazelnut one had a texture of pudding in the filling which I wasn't the biggest fan of. The cakes looked amazing and I'm willing to bet they are tasty. So, my experience was largely a 3 star, but for being in business for so long and having a mouth-watering display case, I give it an extra star because I'm sure I would come back to try the other things. read more

What an awesome way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon going to the Salon and then just down the street....10 blocks actually but whose technically counting..and have some pastries Italian Style. Apparently this bakery has been around for years, however, walked in for the first time. I had a Living Social coupon, therefore, shared the treats with my awesome hair dresser. I was mesmerized by the selection. I bought some assorted cookies that weren't too sweet but hit the spot. Their version of the crème brule isn't too bad either, better than what I was expecting coming from an Italian Bakery. Their meat selection is a bit on the slim side, however, walked away with 100g of good quality Havarti cheese. Being Easter weekend, it was wicked busy and a little disorganized by both the staff and the customers. It got annoying for me really quickly. Being the closest thing in Vancouver to an authentic Italian bakery, dry the characters to match. Simple tasks become a production all on it's own. Frustrating on the service side. Other than the Crème Brule, there aren't a lot of gluten free options, however, do stop by and check out the pastries in the window which are an art in itself. read more

I love this bakery. There I've said it. Yes it IS possible to love a Baked Goods provider. The first time we visited we ordered what I thought was a reasonably normal slice of pizza only to be given the biggest square of pizza goodness that anyone could never eat in one sitting - and it was yummy! Our recent visit was magically and literally just as they were closing shop Sunday evening. (We didn't realize it at first) Starving for something edible without overwhelmingness the kind staff suggested a variety of things (sandwich? - oh out of bread) etc, before we settled on stuff in the counter display. I just love their peanut butter chocolate covered cookies (oh my goodness!) enjoyed their almond finger like cookies and reveled in the chocolate or hazelnut almond slice like things. I moved nearby and swung by on the weekend and picked up some amazing pastries, cookies and biscotti for a brunch I went to. Unbelievable. Simple as that. I didn't think about a review until I dropped in tonight thinking maybe there was an option for dinner. I was sure I'd seen something I could snack on! I love their tiramisu, it's tastes absolutely delicious. The texture is lighter than fratelli bakery and not as heavy or rich as one at fratelli. By far the best tiramisu I've tasted so far. Their creme brulee is really delicious, just as good as the tiramisu. I also tried st. Honore cake, it's their signature and most popular cake. St. Honore cake has to be ordered in advance since it is their most popular cake. I find the St Honore cake is little rich for my taste. Their lemoncello cheesecake is really delicious here. We roped Italia Bakery in to providing some baked goods for our short film 'The Magic Ferret' last weekend in Burnaby. OMG is all I can say. We were expecting a couple of tasters but they absolutely wowed. We served up some pizza/ sandwiches and pastries mid morning on both days. What can I say, 40 + cast and crew devoured the yumminess in a few minutes. My personal favorites were the Italian pastries. I've spent a lot of time in Italy in Sicily and it's been a while since I've tasted such delicious cannoli. The custardy/ creamy filling and melt in your mouth pastry was amazing. I ate wayy too many. The platters were well presented and for my next party/ event I'll be ordering from these guys again for sure! Highly recommend them. read more
