most reviews for this place are not really accurate anymore, ownership has changed recently and it is much-improved. super friendly service, good quick food that is, admittedly, not anything beyond what you would expect but it's all good, and the prices are perfectly fine for the area. small spot, mostly good for taking something and going home, but this being a far more welcoming place than it had been is a good addition to the neighborhood! read more

I like deli's so I thought I'd give this one a try. I'm usually not a yelper but I thought this sandwich was a bit sad, especially for the $10 I payed for just the wedge itself. There's plenty of delis all around Stamford that give waaay more in a roll sand which for a cheaper price. The onions were cut really thick and had barely any lettuce. It just tasted more so like a high school lunch sandwich. The cheese in the breakfast sandwich tasted processed and not fresh. And again on the pricier side of $5, was just not worth it. read more

Hi All, This is a nice deli. It is near a business park and probably open during that time. The service is friendly. The place seemed clean. I had a very good hoagie/wedge/sub...whatever you call it...They also have an adequate chip and drink selection. I would go back if i am near the area, but I wont make a special trip..since it is just a regular good new york style deli. If this place was in a different part of the country other than the north east, then I would say this is an excellent deli. But living here, these excellent delis are a dime a dozen. Stopped in today for a lunch takeout. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana from the hot food specials. When I got in my car to eat it. I was disgusted by the appearance of a soggy, breadcrumbs, soggy very bitter eggplant. It seemed they just through sauce, cheese, breadcrumbs all into a tray. I've had better eggplant Parm at Stop n Shop supermarket. I call the deli from my car and got the owner. Couldn't care less. Didn't offer me to come back and try something else. I can tell he is cheap when I paid $8 for a very small portion. Stamford has many good deli's and as for me will never go back to the The Italian Deli. This is my go to deli in the Stamford area for lunch. The sandwiches are delicious especially the classics like the Italian Combo or the Chicken Cutlet. Service is always fast and very accommodating to any requests or needs. New hot and cold sandwich specials are available everyday. Everything is very fresh and there is a large selection of drinks and chips to go with the sandwiches. The Italian Deli also offers catering. We ordered their 6 ft long Italian Sub, comes with a variety of salads, for one of our parties and it was a huge hit with all of the guests. 20 years ago I said I would never step foot in this place after the owner wanted to charge me $2 for an Arizona iced tea, 20 YEARS AGO! Today I made the mistake of breaking my word. Ordered the Big Lunch Burrito...and for $11 (price not marked on the board) I got a 75% rice filled, flavorless wrap, that the woman had the balls to brag about the weight! They put a Boars Head sticker on the container, and when I asked the owner(same asshole from 20 years ago) for hot sauce, he reached into the cooler and took out a large ketchup style squeeze bottle, and gave an amount that I could've sneezed more than, and I was on my way....turns out it was nothing more than Tabasco... a real douchebag...avoid this dump like a disease! read more

I would normally never give a review for a deli but this place compelled me to write one up. Driven by this deli a few times and only had coffee in the morning. Yesterday, I stopped by to get a takeout lunch. Ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Got to my car and thought I will eat it in the car. Opened up the container and i see this nasty looking glob of eggplant all soaked up in oil with soggy breadcrumbs. Took a bite and it was aweful! What the hell are they serving at a place called the ITALIAN DELI???? So I went back in and told the owner who was the one that served me. He said there was nothing wrong with it. I told him to look around Stamford and see other italian deli's and restaurants that serve eggplant parm and see the difference. He tells me take or leave it.. I dropped it on his counter and walked out. Didn't care about getting a refund. I thought posting my experience on Yelp would warn others to stay away. read more

I give this deli five stars. The service is great and the food is amazing. The Eggplant Parm and the meatball grinders are my favorite and surpass all others. I read the other reviews and would love to slap two of the idiots that not only gave this deli a bad review but also had nothing but negative things to say about the eggplant parm. Unfortunately, that is what should be expected from ignorant non-Italians who probably consider Burger King fine dining. One of Stamford's best kept secrets! Tucked away in the corner of a shopping center . My favorite sandwich was a special during the winter but Rocco still makes it for me when I come in! It's like thanksgiving in one sandwich ! The store is clean and well organized . I only wished they delivered daily because I know my office would love it! I've gone here for almost 2 years for a sandwich & to play lotto. I went in last week for a sandwich with no mayo. They repeated no mayo, they made it and I left. Went home and opened it up surprised to find mayo on it, a lot of mayo! So being I live 1 min away I went back in and asked for it to be remade. The same man took it and threw it right in the garbage. Made my sandwich no problem. I went in today and when I asked for a sandwich he said 'No, you came in here to return a sandwich I'm not making you one anymore' I was completely shocked! I asked him if he was serious and he said he is not making me anything and I'm not welcome there anyone. He had a major attitude, was extremely rude and unprofessional!! I am disabled so when I don't have anything in my home I want to eat and not able to drive far, today I walked, I go there.
