5 stars for the amazing and super friendly customer service, 3 stars for the Turkey sandwich. Though nothing was wrong with this sandwich, it was rather basic and the bread was on the dry side. Turkey was fresh, but the fixings were rather light especially the lettuce. This is a small store with an old school sandwich counter and the prices are crazy low, I think the sando was around $10 or $11. However, with so many amazing sandwich shops available in Los Angeles this just doesn't compare. read more

I got a large custom sandwich for about $10 and it was made with fresh ingredients. I also got a side of their bean salad which was refreshing and so so good! I got the Italian sub. It was ok, not great. For $10.00 bucks, I could have just gone to Subway and got the sub of the day. I also got a bag of chips and an pelegrino pomegranate sparkling water in the can. For some reason my final total was $18.00!?!?!? WTF!?!?! So $4.00 for the drink and $4.00 for the bag of chips??? I'm not sure whatever the combination of prices the chips or drink were, but, either way it still came to $18.00. like I said, Subway would have been the wiser economical decision. Walking in to this small market, you go back in time a bit. Joe, the owner, usually greets you with a smile and asks how you've been. He gives the place a family feel, seeing that he has his family there to help out, at all times. It's not a big store, but they have a great selection of things that you might not normally find in the market (think, middle eastern-mediterranean products). But the prize of this market is the service deli. Proudly serving Boar's Head Products (the good stuff) along side of homemade products like his family's Hummas recipe, or their amazing Muhamurah. Such a cool local place. Local, homemade, everything about this place just brings you comfort. The market is small, and nothing fancy, but it has absolutely everything you need for middle eastern, cooking and eating. If you need something specific, but can't find at the grocery store, come here! The staff, which I am only assume are the owners, are so friendly and remind me of back home. Comforting, welcoming, and never afraid to tell a story. The sandwiches were good, freshly cut meat, homemade, I would eat them again for sure! I wonder if they could add something different to them, perhaps a homemade sauce, to really pack the punch with flavor and originality! My dad used to take me here in the 1980s and I returned back this week and the same two brothers run this fantastic small deli and market. They specialize in Middle Eastern grocery items such as Armenian cheese, olives, breads, spices, and many canned foods. But where they shine are the submarine sandwiches and wraps. They are outstanding, no fuss and amazing. Italian cold cuts and mortadella stand out. Tastes the exact same way it did 30 years ago! This place caught my eye. I always get my haircuts next door and decided to come over. I order a Italian cold cut sandwich. I ate it immediately in the car and enjoyed every bite. The service was excellent! Two gentlemen who work there, always positive and very welcoming. The market has a variety of other goodies as well besides the sandwiches. I've had this market on my radar for quite some time but hadn't stopped in, that was until just a couple of weeks ago when I was out for a walk and finally decided I'd stop in to see if they had some of the specific ingredients I was looking for. Sure enough! They did. I wanted saffron, lebni, fresh pita, tomatoes, persian cucumbers, basmati rice and I found it all. I can't tell you how nice it was to stop in and pick up all of these items while supporting a local neighborhood gem, no offense to Trader Joes or Whole Foods but I'd highly recommend this market if you are shopping around for these items. In my WFH hyper-local lunch search, I decided to try this market which I have driven by countless times. There's not a lot I can add here that hasn't already been said, but a few notes. Shout out to the reviewer who recommended the apricot paste and putting it in the fridge - that's a pro move. The prices here are incredible. I bought a vat of tahini for like the fraction of the price of a tiny jar at a supermarket. The sandwiches are solid. They aren't the best you'll eat, but definitely good and reasonably priced. I prefer their wraps over the French bread. The owner is one of the friendliest people you'll meet and talking to him is worth making a visit. read more

Found this place at the height of the pandemic in March when no one had water, rice or toilet paper. Looked online to find if some other local markets were open and BINGO, this one came up. I ventured out into the great unknown (aka The Valley during Covid) and was so relieved and appreciative to find they were open and what's more-they had the essentials I needed! They were all so kind and in happy spirits despite the world around us at the time! They now stand out in my mind as a place to go on the regular! I was looking for a local spot to get a good deli sandwich as I think it's important to support our local businesses especially right now. I was so happy to walk into this market greeted with such kindness and reminded of my favorite childhood foods. Being Israeli it was so great to find all the yummy foods my great grandma used to make packaged and ready for me to eat (in one sitting GUILTY). I got myself their Italian cold cut sandwich which has all those fixings you don't even know to ask for. Super delicious sandwich. I got some of their macaroni salad too which was freaking awesome. My favorite finds were the apricot paste (put in the fridge and when ready to eat cut with a scissor--you'll thank me later) and pickles in brine OMG I love it! I even saved the left over brine to pickle my own veggies. I finished my visit with one of the most kind gentlemen who made my sandwich and told me sweet stories of why he liked the apricot paste too. I'm reminded of the importance of community and how nice it is to have a conversation with someone even if it's just for a minute. read more

Quick verdict: Lebanese market not Italian. Food they served was a bore. I've passed by this small market for years now, but today I paid them a visit. The sign outside states 'Italian and Middle Eastern' deli, but I'm not sure what part of this market is Italian. Nothing from my assessment. It's a Middle Eastern market more specifically Lebanese. Inside the place it's pretty clean and well organized. A good amount of Middle Eastern goods in stock, including pita bread, produce, baked goods, frozen foods, etc. They also make sandwiches here. Looked like they use Boars Head brand exclusively, which to me it's above average but not great. The ordering process was standard practice, choose your bread, your meat, toppings etc. I went with turkey on pita, add avocado. Also ordered a falafel to test how they do it here. The sandwich itself was kind of a bore. Nothing was seasoned, no special dressings. The pita bread wasn't even warmed up. My thoughts on the falafel; below average at best. Worse thing about it, it was just popped in the microwave! So you had this big dry soft falafel, all the things falafel should never be. And to add insult to injury, they didn't even give me any dipping sauce. No love :( The beauty of falafel is the a crunchy outside and fluffy interior. Served with creamy humus or tahini sauce is the only way to eat it. In the end, I might shop here someday if in the area, but sure not going to eat at this place. I was a member at the gym next door and I was lucky enough to find this gem!!! Fresh fruits and veggies. Limited amounts but diverse selection. The feta cheese they sell is amazing. Full deli with sandwiches, hummus, salads, and my favorite their lentil soup!!! Fresh ground coffee you can take home and make yourself. They have all the basics that you need. This market is a hop a skip and a jump away from my home and is the best! Everyone who works there is so nice and is always in the greatest of spirits. After asking, and getting some great recommendations, I have my favorite items that I pick-up on a regular basis: 1) Love love love the Manti (small beef tortellini's, frozen, easy to boil, eat plain or with your favorite sauce); 2) Fresh manouche (thin pizza-like/pita with a ton of thyme, sesame seeds, olive oil); 3) Sfeeha (Lebanese Meat Pies, frozen but taste very homemade, think "perogi"). They have a nice little market of imported goods, lebanese/middle eastern/greek/italian), cold cuts, a small amount of fresh produce, fresh breads, and all kinds of yummy stuff to try.
