This place never disappoints. My favorite lunch here is a bowl of Escarole and Bean Soup with a side of their homemade Sausage. The soup has a garlicky delicious piece of toast in it that you just want to scarf down and pared with the sausage it's completely satisfying as a mid day meal. I would like to come back and try some of their home made pasta as it seems to get a lot of positive reviews. Nice place and I will stop in again. We skipped the appetizers because I usually eat myself into a food coma and I still left there full. Pizza was decent, a good representation of NY style, but honestly, I didn't think it was quite as good as our last visit (I had thought the pizza was 5 Star quality then). My wife was miffed because they put mayo on her grinder instead of oil & vinegar (like we had requested). She also thought the sub was on the bland side. Overall, I felt our experience was about a 3.5 Star rating (rounded up to 4 Stars). No bene to put it succinctly. When we went here previously, it was great. Fredo must have taken over operations of this restaurant, because it has betrayed all the values of a good dining experience. Where do I begin? We were here for a major birthday dinner, and it took an hour and a half to get the entrees for seven people. Their excuse was because our party was larger. What does that have to do with it when you're bringing every other group their food in a third as much time? But fear not, in the meantime we had some delightful stale bread to feast on. In the interests of fairness, the pasta e fagioli was fine, but that was the only silver lining. When we finally did get our entrees, everyone was very disappointed. Portion sized have been DRAMATICALLY reduced to perhaps half of what it was just last year. A few members of the party thought we would try the "homemade spicy rigatoni".... They apparently don't know what al dente is. This pasta was very undercooked, and highly disappointing. Most of us did not like our entire main dishes as well. My two small pieces of chicken sorrentino were okay, but that was the exception. I heard highly negative feedback about the veal parmigiana and other dishes that we had. When we wrote in to the restaurant, after SEVERAL messages they responded blaming this on "new staff"... The waitress was the same one as last year, and the owners were there. This is a small place, and there can't be that many people, asking us to come back without even offering anything other than a hollow apology. The server also didn't seem to much care to check in on us for the insane time we were waiting, and had to be prodded to know something was wrong, and still didn't seem to care. You have lost hundreds of dollars of future business. We'll be dining at other Italian restaurants in the future. Ignore the other reviews. Again, this place USED to be good. It no longer is. Take your business elsewhere, and hope they take this place back to the old country. read more

My husband and I love the veal parmigiana here so when I was in the neighborhood I decided to take a chance on takeout even though we live an hour away. For a small little pizzeria / restaurant I thought the place was great. Food was excellent and staff was friendly. Our waitress (Nicole) was beyond what you expect from most servers. We had a regular slice which wasn't bad, considering we are from Brooklyn that's a great compliment. The penne alla vodka and zuppa di pesce was pretty on point. No complaints there. Also, which surprised us, the French onion soup was one of the better ones we tasted. Most of them are way over salted and this one wasn't. It was just right. Definitely recommend for a quick bite or or a nice dinner. The only disappointment was they didn't serve alcohol but it is BYOB so as long as you know beforehand than you can be prepare. read more

Wow - what a find out in the middle of nowhere (sorry Cream Ridge) sits this mom and pop Italian trattoria serving up some of the most delicious Napolitano cooking we have experienced here in central Jersey. Delicious homemade pastas served daily as well as their bread and a wonderful red sauce make for great dining experience. The owner and wife came out to greet us and welcome us to their home. Then our server Rusty provided outstanding service throughout our meal, all in the quaint charm of this rustic little gem. Our dishes were a simple; meatballs with a rigatoni like pasta both homemade in house and oven roasted branzino fish with a side of homemade fettuccine with garlic and oil. Our meals were delicious and the pricing very fair. We can't wait to return again ... and the next time we will save room for one of their wonderful homemade desserts. read more

Stopped in here for lunch on Monday, 17 September. A delightful setting with cheery service and a relaxed interior. We split a plate of mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, which were clearly home-made and quite good. The homemade marinara sauce for dipping was the best part about them, though choosing between sticks and sauce is like choosing a favorite limb. I ordered the pasta fagioli soup, which was equally delicious and clearly not from a can. The final course was the baked zitti, which included multiple cheeses. Needless to say, I was pleasantly full by the end of the meal. They also have a many pizzas and I hope to return to try their hot dog pizza. An unbelievable experience and meal and not in a good way. From the time we ordered to the time we had to ask where our food was, more than 30 min had already passed. The place was far from busy. More time went passed, we asked for an update and we were told the french fries were holding up our entire order and it was on its way out. Yet more time than necessary passed before ANY meals (sandwiches) showed up - and by that I mean 5 out of 7... two were missing: child's pasta and a calzone. More time goes by then only the pasta came, it was supposed to be vodka rigatoni it looked like noodles and watered down red sauce. The kid added a 1/4 cup of parmesan that she had to ask for, it was never offered, to try to thicken it and give it flavor. It didn't do either. The other meal was still waiting, a calzone, it did not come out until the rest of us had finished hours and around 45 min from ordering. Through this whole experience our own waitress didn't make nearly as many appearances as another did. We asked to speak to a manager or owner then wait about 5 more min for that to happen. We got the owner's daughter, only knowing this because we asked when she didn't introduce herself, and her personality left something to be desired. She seemed unprepared as to how to handle a problem and made remarks about our "attitude". As if our being upset was an inconvenience. She apologized for the delays, as if we were only delayed by a few minutes. We explained the whole ordeal again receiving the response "What else do you want me to do?" and question why we didn't send back the pasta dish. I let her know because the kid was starving after waiting 45 minutes to eat and she couldn't afford to wait another 45. Who asks such a question at that point? No one offered updates on the delay unless asked let alone ask how the food tasted. Average at best. Remarks about my eye roll over her casual empathy and unprofessional response we're not appreciated either, nor were her remarks about how I should understand that things happen since I've worked in the business as well, a point I made to her earlier. I then took it upon myself to let her know mistakes do happen but generally management steps up BEFORE things get this far, not after, and certainly don't try to turn the blame onto the customer for not reporting a problem sooner. As if we had access to anyone to do so anyway. Bottom line they knew there was a problem and did nothing about it. They knew there was miscommunication in the kitchen and did nothing about it. They knew the customers were frustrated and did nothing about it. What started out as a night to celebrate my late father on his birthday at a place he enjoyed turned into a hungry and frustrating situation. Make no mistake there was no emotion from the night deflected on the staff or the food. However, where we should have been reminiscing over a nice meal, this was our dinner conversation. The experience in this restaurant is definitely one that has "leave a bad taste in our mouth" both figuratively and literally. read more

Went here with my family which was a group of 15 or so and had a wonderful time. Doesn't look like much when you walk in but just wait!! Started with a couple orders of calamari which were amazing!! Not just rings but tentacles as well cooked perfectly in a super tasty garlic marinara. Eggplant rolletini was fabulous and stuffed clams bangin. Entrees--I had the monkfish special over linguini everything done perfectly in a cherry tomato sauce. My mom had chicken parm which was just right--little crispy but nice and tender. Also a new favorite is the European sea bass--awesome. Service was GREAT!!! Seriously GREAT and BYOB with liquor store like two minutes away. Priced right. Can't beat it. This restaurant is truely a hidden gem. We got a recommendation and directions from a local couple who eat there weekly. The food was delicious. the dinners came with soup or salad and freshly baked bread and rolls. Two of us opted for soup and our third diner had the salad. To our surprise the soup was not a small cup, but a large bowl. Both the pasta e fagioli and the lentil were homemade and hearty. We enjoyed them both. Two orders of veal parm and one order of chicken parm later we we re stuffed. The portions were generous enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. The pizzas that were being served while we dined looked crispy and loaded with toppings. We were sorry we did not order one to go. It is BYOB so we had wine which our server, Justine, opened and served. Justine was friendly and very accommodating. She answered any questions about the food and explained the specials of the day.
