My family stopped in here during a road trip. We ordered some spaghetti to split between our kids. I got a deluxe calzone and my wife got a meatball sub. The spaghetti was good. One order would have fed three to four kids. The calzone I ordered was a medium and should have fed at least two people but it was so good I ate every bit. The ingredients were superior to most pizza places I have been to. The staff was very friendly as well. It looks like they do mostly takeout but they have several tables for ordering in. The other positive reviews are spot on. After shopping in the area we decided to give this place a try. I had the cheese steak, my girlfriend and her daughter had the steak hogie and the vegetable spaghetti respectively. All dishes were outstanding! The service was excellent (especially considering this is sort of a dive and the waitress also took care of walk in orders and phone orders as well as seated customers) I'd say she was nothing less than amazing. The food ohhh the food. The 1st "wow" your going to utter is when you see the portions. The second time you say it will be when you taste your order. Rarely do I give 5 stars. The restaurant has to impress me with at least three criteria: Value, service, and taste. They also must make me say "wow" at least once (very very hard to do). This place succeeds on all fronts and reminds me of the little mom and pop dives in New York or some side street place in Philly.... not necessarily pretty but really da** good! My girlfriend and I ordered delivery tonight. I had the cheesesteak and she had the shrimp alfredo. The cheese steak might have been the best I've ever had. Her shrimp alfredo tasted like it was out of the frozen food section at the grocery store. I called the restaurant and a very nice gentleman (guessing the owner) said that it was the second complaint he had had about the alfredo that night and that he had a new cook but he would send another one right out. What a great stop for dinner on our drive along 81! This is not a fancy place, and they make a lot of pizza for take out, but if you are hungry for some good Italian food this is worth the 1.5 mile drive off the highway. I had the small (I could only eat half) vegetable calzone, which was full of cheese and vegetables in a delicious crust. The marinara sauce on the side is very good, not sweet but just enough spice. My husband had the medium chicken Stromboli which was more than enough for two hungry people. The waitress was great, and the food excellent. Stopped in here yesterday for early dinner in a bit of a hurry, really loved the food service was quick when I needed it to be, got out perfectly on time. I had the calzone (supreme), I got the medium and it was enough to feed two people, should have gotten the small, but otherwise it was excellent. Good cheese, good crust, good vegetables, really liked the meats also. My wife had the Italian sandwich with pepperoni and salami, basically the same comments, good sized, really good meats. Not sure i needed the pasta sauce but the calzone and sandwich were very flavorful on their own. Definitely would stop here again. read more

The food has always been great here. I use to eat here all the time when i worked at the hospital. I finally got a hold of a menu again a few days ago. I called and spoke with the owner and told him where i was located and my position. I asked him how much would i have to order for them to deliver to the motel and he said since you are a place of business whatever the amount we will deliver. I told him Thank you and i would be sending him a lot of business. We hung up.. A couple days passed and Adam and I decided we would place an order. So i called. Another employee answered and you could tell that he had not worked there long.. I told him what we would like to order and where i was located. He told me to hang on.. He spoke with the wife of the owner and she told him too tell me with the purchase that i had made that the delivery drivers did not have time to deliver what i asked for.. I explained the conversation that the owner and I had just a few days before.. So if i wanted to spend the alloted amount they would deliver to me.. Needless to say the owner that i spoke too wasnt there and his employees could not reach him to confirm what he and I had spoken about a few days before. So me being me.... I said just forget it. At this time I did not know that they had delivered to the motel not 2 hours prior for less than what i had ordered.. About 3 hours later they delivered again to a different room for Five dollars more than what i had orginally wanted.. By this time i was hot! So when the delivery was made i was outside the guests door... I heard the amount of there puraches.. I kept my cool due to my position here and trying to be respectful.. The delivery guy was the same gentleman that i had orginally spoken too when i called.. He was complaining about the hand writing of the staff and had everyone of us too Look at the reciept to make sure that the amount was right. He pulled his cell phone back out to do the math on the change that was given back. He had to give the lady back more than she was suppose to get because he didnt want to count out .85 cents. All I am saying is if you are gonna tell someone something please tell or leave notes for the rest of your employees this way they know what too do if the situation ever occures. read more

The area where the food was cooked was dirty, I ordered the fettucine alfredo with chicken, what I got was noddles with cheese and chicken, no Alfredo sauce what so ever. The dish was dry and had very little flavor and the garlic bread tasty like it had been frozen for a long amount of time. Visited Italiano Cafe last week. Small, quaint, yet delightfully clean and tidy. We were promptly greeted by both our waiter and the chef. Waiter was quick to take our drink order and we asked for a little time to review their menu. I ordered the Philly steak with all the trimmings. My wife ordered an all cheese calzone. We also had a side of their garlic knots. The knots arrived very quickly- they were amazing. Hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Our order arrived soon after. The Philly steak was piping hot. The steak was cooked perfectly- the veggies we're excellently cooked. The bread was to die for. The calzone arrived larger than the plate and it was just a small. We've not eaten a better calzone from anywhere in the U.S. We ordered another to go. We have found our new place. Prices were very reasonable for the portion sizes. This place is a gem. Clean, well organized, inviting place with food that's good for what it is. They have many precautionary notes on all the self-serve coolers for patrons with food allergies, which shows they really care for their clienteles' needs. Service was very fast and HOT (I would rather it be too hot than cold)! Staff was very attentive to our needs, others who were out on deliveries jumped right in to help upon their return to the restaurant. We had a white pizza and garlic knots, all could've been better with a few little details changed but it was decent. Considering the dining out I've done in the tri-cites so far I think the many other restaurants should follow their example, pay attention to the important things; food that's good, keep your restaurant clean and organized, give a damn about who your diners are (there were two couples, both return customers when we were there) and show them you want them there. One of my favorite comments from one staff member to the regulars was "oh, you guys should've just called down, we would've walked it up to you" I haven't heard such things since being in town here.
