Took mum here to get an eye exam and a new frame because while we were chowing down on some pho, one of her lens fell out of the frame. I wasn't embarrassed or anything, just appalled with the quality of where she got them from Anyways, we came in around 5pm and they were pleasant. It was prompt service because the guy jump right in on it. They do have a nice selection of brand name frames; mum picked out a nice Jimmy Choo with rhinestones. All in all, it was a pleasant visit with decent service. I'll definitely come here if I needed some myself. of course if you buy their glasses, your exam is free. Italy optical is a great place to go for a wide selection of frames for dozens of brands. The staff is pleasant. The prices are fair. The staff seems to do their best, however, they weren't that great at helping find frames... they'd kind of just lackadaisically wave in a general direction when I'd ask about something specific. The most frustrating part of the experience was the way the frames were--or rather, were NOT-- organized. Most of the gender neutral frames were just mixed in with ladies' frames. So my husband had a particularly difficult time wading through all the ladies' frames in hopes of finding something that he liked. (We giggled when one of the frames that looked gender-neutral from the front actually had a lacy rhinestone pattern on the side... I wouldn't mind seeing him in rhinestone frames, but he wasn't too enthusiastic about the prospect.) You'd have to be really patient and willing to waste a lot of time to look at all the frames in hopes to find one gender-neutral one lurking in the bunch. read more

I've been getting glasses from Italy Optical for the past 14 years, and I wouldn't dare go anywhere else. The staff is super nice, and the prices are great! Like the other reviews say, the shop is run by Koreans, but they're all fluent in English, and I'm pretty sure I've heard Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese (umm..don't know if it was Mandarin or Cantonese....) spoken by the staff as well. Plus, they're located right in front of Asian Square, so after your eye exam, you can go across the street and get a bahn mi from Quoc Huong (well...that's what I'd do...). read more

Where to start about this place... to begin I was in desperate need of glasses after crushing my ray-bans, and stumbled across this place after searching elsewhere for decent priced frames. Now their "cheap no-brand" frames have a 2 pairs for $120 deal which immediately drew me in because I could honestly care less about brands. I bought one regular pair and one I chose a sunglass prescription. the regular pair's arm snapped off kinda easily after months of heavy wear (work in a tire warehouse) and the metal design on the face of the sunglass fell out too. So I take it you get what you pay for when it comes to frames. The contacts is where I'm left most upset. I get the contact exam, DR. Drezek and I agree on getting daily lenses, wait a week or two for them to arrive and they ordered the monthlies instead. they told me these would be fine, they were not. these hurt my left eye so bad i couldnt wear contacts for months. I talk to the doctor about it all he does is give me a new monthly lense and said there must have been a tear. no. they hurt my eyes and the prescription is wrong I NEED DAILYS. I end up letting all the bullshit,wasted time and gas driving there go and try again with these people, even though ive wasted $90 this time my dailys actually come (super slow and they never let you know when they show up, you have to keep calling them every few days). The dailys work for me ... yay what do ya know? should have got them in the first place! It dosnt end there unfortunately, a month or two goes by and I need more dailys, I order them ,wait two weeks come in and all they give me is samples! what the hell? the girl behind counter tells me they tried to order my dailys but dont make them in my perscription so try out some new ones, these "new" ones are the same ones I got last time and were fine.... they are still trying to order me a messed up monthly prescription in daily form..no wonder you cant find the dailys I need. HOW HARD IS YOUR JOB . bottom line, eye doctor is great. employees are morons. owner speaks little to no english. I know more about contacts then half their employees now because of trial and error with these people. SAVE YOURSELF some hassle and gas money in life and please for your own sake go anywhere but here. read more

I've just read five or six other positive reviews and have yet (after fifteen years of going here) to encounter a situation which would give me cause for criticism. Oh, yes! They didn't call me when my glasses came in one time. But then, they had only been in the store for half a day when I started getting anxious because I had expected a call that morning. They've got competitive prices, were patient, kind and honest with their recommendations! HORRIBLE place... I bought two glasses for 190. One of them is crooked and the lens are not tight. The other one has scratches and frame is unstable. I went to this places 6 times in total in order to get this problem fix. NO one seems to care in that place that customers are coming. I am coming all the way from stone mountain, but yet the spanish girl doesnt do shit and just take orders and comes back with okey it will be done in 10 minutes. 10 minutes pass....okey it will be done by tomorrow. Gosh the place needs good workers and if I am going to pay 190 for glasses then it better be good (not brand wise) but the lens accurately attached to the frames and not crooked. I did some research on this "Italy Optical Eyewear" place before driving nearly 4 hours to get my glasses done. The reviews were correct. The people were very nice. But they forgot mention about the work itself and the material were using. I got a poly lenses done with anti scratching and anti glare on my lenses. I paid almost $200 using my own frame. However, this last me less than 6 months. After dropping for the first time on a carpet floor, the lenses then crack and cheap! All my glasses, including the half rim, last more than 2 years. I am actually wearing the glasses that were made about 5 years ago to write this review. When I called ask to speak to a manager, the worker said he busy and insist on helping me with my concern. I then decide to told him the problem, and all the can do was being silent or said "uh huh"! I decide to ask for the lenses to be replace since he was silent for a minute. He then said, the glasses were only warranty for a month after it is being made. How ridiculous is that? All American stores will warranty for at least a year, not to mention I never have a problem with any my glasses in 2 years not less 1 year!! The price I paid at this place only less than a $100 difference compare to an American place. I was willingly to drive to there for the service due to the reviews online and the referral of my friend. My recommendation to the new people who want to get there glasses done here is to think more than twice to see if it is worth it or not. They used an extremely cheap poly lenses when my glasses were made. The staff only nice to you when you actually bringing them new business. After they got your business, they don't care about anything else. They don't care about a bad review I would leave on the internet or about me reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. This is my first time dealing with an Asian, Korean to be exact, Optical, and it will be my LAST!! I can't afford to pay $200 for something last less than 6 months plus 4 hours of driving each way!!! I've been wearing glasses pretty much my whole life and I have never been as satisfied with the experience of buying glasses as I was here! I went in today with a friend, she was buying me new glasses for my birthday. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and asked what we were looking for (and recognised us from the last time we were there), I knew what I wanted and he immediately pulled them out. I tried on a few more pairs and after I decided on the pair I wanted I tried to pull up my prescription to email to him, but after a bit of trouble finding it he was just like "we'll just do an eye exam now, free of charge" which of course I was very happy with! The doctor who did my exam was really nice too, very friendly, thorough and quick! After figuring out my prescription he helped me decide what would be best for me by how I use my glasses (we went for slightly lower as I don't drive and I work all day on a computer). Now I had the eye exam, I was asked if I wanted normal lenses or anti-glare, I asked for normal and he gave me the lenses for free, all we had to pay for was the price of the frames! Which were really reasonably priced. And he ended up giving me anti-glare lenses anyway because they didn't have normal ones in my prescriptions! And with this good of a deal you'd think they would be really slow or have a terrible selection right? Wrong! They have a really amazing selection, ranging from nice non designer plastic and metal frames, to ray bans, to gucci to cartier! Wrap arounds! Foldables! everything! And it only took him ten minutes to put my frames in. I was there for a total of 30 minutes at most, came out with a fresh eye exam and brand new glasses on my face! So basically if you want an excellent selection of frames at great prices, with excellent service, great deals, free eye exams (if you buy lenses) with a good doctor then this is definitely the place for you. I don't even live in Georgia but I will be coming back here for my glasses every single time! read more

sorry to ruin the 5-star-rating streak, but this place left a bad first impression.. QUICK NOTES ABOUT THE STORE BEFORE READING + majority of staff here are friendly and nice; they're also bilingual -- english is one of them + store is korean owned, but the dr/optometrist is caucasian + free eye exam if you purchase any of their eyeglasses; $40 if it's eye exam alone + $40 gets you both glass AND contact exam [read below to find out the downside] + there's more selections for 'moderate' & 'designer glass' frames than there are for 'value' frames + majority of the value frames are metal + they're literally right across the street from asian square + very limited parking + troublesome to turn into store's lot if you're coming from 285 it is BY LAW that the optometrist must give you your eye prescription, whether you asked for it or not. but that wasn't the case here. after my eye exam, I was told to look around for glasses or offered to buy contacts. I didn't see anything I liked when it came to their eyeglass selections and I didn't want to purchase contacts there since I knew of cheaper places. so after declining, I paid my eye exam bill (eye exam is free btw if you purchase a pair of glasses) -- which was $40. then I was sent on my way; nothing else. I was shocked that they didn't even bother printing my new prescription. I HAD to ask for them to print it. my only assumption about why they don't print out and hand out prescription forms is because they expect you to just purchase everything optical-related with them. withholding your personal rights to have a physical copy of your own prescription is just downright wrong. at the end of the whole procedure, I shouldn't have to remind you or ask you for my own freakin' prescription! the other fishy part of this place was, the optometrist only gave me my eyeglass prescription. he didn't even "fully" perform my contacts exam, which the $40 was supposed to cover for both eyeglass & contacts exam. he said that he "wasn't able to give" me my contacts prescription since I would have to revisit him for a check up. so then, a week or 2 later, I revisit him and he does nothing but place me back into the seat and ask me if I can see the optical letter board. that was it. then I had to ask him once more to have my contacts prescription. he didn't even update the prescription paper. I had to jot down the note on my own. all there was on the original prescription form were 2 digits, my left and right eye prescription #s. no base curve or any other information that could have helped me with ordering contacts. once more, there's proof that they don't expect you buy from any other businesses. they basically want you to be dependent on them. so few months after that, I finally decided to order my contacts from my usual place (name shall remain anonymous). so the form online to order contacts had a drop box for you to pick a BC (base curve). I had no base curve # on my prescription form, so I had to guess between the two choices, 8.4 or 8.8. so after submitting my contacts order and filling out "who was your doctor and their office address?" forms, I was sent to an agreement page or whatever that basically says that my order will processed after the they verify my prescription with doctor. and usually in the past, if there is tiny mistake, the doctor will usually correct it and approve it with the correction(s). few days later, I get an email that says I have been DENIED. so later I found out that they must have tested you out on that particular brand of contacts for you to get approved by them when ordering from outside of italy optical. don't get me wrong, the front floor staff is friendly and helpful, but I'm not quite sure about the management and optometrist.. read more

so, i'm not asian but i've found that asian optical stores sell the BEST eyeglasses. normally, i get my optics from this store in NYC, or back home in LA. this place: very good service, good negotiating too, contacts, eyewear, and eye exam. broke my eyeglasses, they fixed it!! bought another pair of kio yamato's ($400 range) since my old ones lasted me like 6 years. they also sell prada's, and good korean eyewear (only $80!), they speak english, cause i don't speak korean. =) better place than the "typical American" eyewear...ugh, which is so ugly. at least here you get some nyc / la style. =) read more

The doctor is very friendly, polite and nice person, but only knows how to take the measure for lenses, if only are interested in that, is fine, but if you wish to dilate the pupils to see the health of the eyes inside, he doesn't knows nothing about it and for me it is very important too, especially if you had some illness or are in risk maybe for age or genetic. read more

I was recommended to come here by a friend and I was shopping around for prices, I called them and whoever answered the phone was really pleasant and helpful. And for me, if the person that answers the phone is rude...I won't go there. So I really liked that. I also called other places for prices. The most reasonable was Italy optical, and I didn't even have to make an appointment either. Me and my husband walked in, at first I wasn't sure if coming there was the right thing to do. We signed in and decided to get contacts exam which were $40 each. The doctor was really nice and knowledgeable. I ended up getting contacts and my husband got two pairs of glasses with lenses and the whole visit was less than $300. I was really satisfied after leaving there, the contacts i got were colored so it took a week to come in. The employees there were really nice and patient ( i am a difficult client) I tried on several colors of contacts and they helped me and my husband pick out what we needed. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a great place to go to and great prices. I will be coming back. The glasses also have a range of cheap to very expensive, they even have Cartier there.
