Come hungry because they are not playing around with those portions. The sandwiches are delicious, but I have to talk about the Portuguese treats. The classic pastel de nata was my FAVORITE! The pastry is so flaky, and that creamy custard filling makes it hard to stop at just one. Seriously, don't skip the natas! And the NATA LATTE?! I absolutely loved it. If you're already a fan of pastéis de nata, having those flavors worked into a latte just makes sense. Definitely something I would order again. We also tried the cod fritters, which were very good and another nice addition to everything else we ordered. Between the huge breakfast sandwiches, delicious Portuguese flavors, flaky natas and that nata latte, Gilda gives you plenty of reasons to come back. It's one of those places where you start thinking about what you're going to order on your NEXT visit before you've even finished what you have. Do yourself a favor: get a sandwich, but whatever you do, DON'T leave without a pastel de nata. And if you're a coffee person, try that nata latte too!

While some of their selection would be a little pricy for me compared to what I'm used to in New York for comparable items, it serves a purpose and offers some really beautiful fruits and vegetables - like different dragon fruit. They also have interesting in-house prepared sandwich options. If staying in Old City, recommend checking Riverwards Produce out.

I get to the counter and pulled answers out of the girl at the counter when I inquired about the smoothie. I didn't think anything of her behavior and ordered anyway, until I noticed how different I was treated from the other customers in the store-- white people. Being born and raised in an inclusive city like Philadelphia, I was shocked, but not surprised by the behavior I experienced. Seemingly, those that ordered their smoothies ahead of me were greeted politely, whereas it felt like an inconvenience for me to be in the store, as a black woman. I had already paid for the drink and waited around for it, I waited a while, which was fine... I took time to walk around the store, and look around. The store itself is beautiful. The drink orders were called out loud, and I had been waiting for mine to be called. After about ten minutes, I went to retrieve my drink that had been sitting on the counter. The woman at the counter gestured to my drink, but didn't acknowledge me, and again, made me feel like an inconvenience. I left the store uncomfortable, and still drank the smoothie. I made a video on this matter and two days later, on Monday, the manager at this location reached out to me after there were several comments on their social media about what happened. Likewise, a few other staff who worked at the smoothie counter reached out and have been supportive and sweet. From the manager, Robert, I was promised compensation from Riverwards for this experience and the manager was extremely apologetic. I did not care about the compensation, I just wanted to be heard and understood about the issue of racism that happened. During our conversation, I let the manager know about more comments that I have seen online concerning the same problem with their team and how they treat people of color in their establishment. It's been almost a month, I have filed a complaint with my credit card company to dispute the charge... I have not received the promised compensation, either. I believe that I was promised that as "hush money" to prevent me from speaking my truth. The store is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but why the racism? I went for the experience of saying that I've finally tried Riverwards, but never again. There are other beautiful places in Philly to try, that don't come with a side of disrespect.

I ordered the…read moreSamke Harra (branzino fillet) and Halabi Kabab (lamb kababs) from the Taste of Suraya menu. Both were really good, and the portions are generous enough that I actually had food left over to take home. After you place your order, you get a spread of hummous, baba ganoush, labneh, muhammara and taboule. All five were delicious. My personal favorites were the baba ganoush and muhammara. One thing to know is that the amount of spreads you get is based on your party size, and they don't keep bringing out more once you finish them, like they do at LaserWolf. If you're a carb lover like myself, go easy on the homemade pita (so good!) and order a side of the za'atar manoushe. And the Lebanese chai latte? Perfection! I'd come back just for that. If you've been to LaserWolf, Suraya has a similar flavor profile and some similar spreads, although you get five spreads here. The biggest difference is the way the food is served. Unlike Zahav or LaserWolf, where dishes are constantly coming out to the table, Suraya is more about fewer dishes with larger portions. Personally, I really enjoyed that style because it felt like a satisfying, full meal. Service was efficient and attentive. A couple of tips: make reservations because this place can definitely get busy. Also, parking can be a pain, so plan ahead. Take the closest parking spot you can realistically handle walking from because trying to find something within a block or two of the restaurant can be difficult. Overall, really good food, generous portions, great flavors, and definitely worth coming back to.

Not tough but a nice, soft seeded sub roll. Seeing it arrive was a little overwhelming but I kinda thought the thing was light and was easy to finish off 1/2. The Fig and Pig - the fig jam was outstanding. Great sweetness with the saltiness from the prosciutto and then to top it off, the crunch of the cutlets. Excellent. As I was leaving, I saw a cutlet, with mutz, broccoli rabe, and roasted red peppers. I WILL be back for that. That looked amazing. Service was very friendly, prompt. We sat down and within a few minutes, our sandwiches came out. Looks like they were working on takeout / delivery orders and I thought, oh crap, am i behind all of that. But I guess they were either done or they prioritize the tables. Place was small but at 2:30 or so, it had a couple of tables open. They had tables outside but a little warm and in the sun for that. Well done, Liberty Kitchen!

This is literally walking distance. First of all, I am very impressed by the check yourself out shopping cart. Its so cool. You scan your prime QR code to start, scan everything and put it in your cart and walk out form the dedicated cart lane. It automatically deducts and send you the receipt. It takes default credit card from your Amazon account. It felt like stealing and so strange. But then when you get invoice it's so cool. This is definitely am upgrade for the neighborhood. Aisles are well organized. There is wine and alcohol for purchase as well. Brown paper bags for free. Couldn't ask for more. Prices are comparable to Target and Heirloom. Amazon fresh pricing on brand name or store brand goods are the same or cheaper every day than many other stores have even when an item is on sale. Produce prices are also shockingly good, and the freshness has been excellent so far for veggies and fruit. It's not the closest store for me, but I definitely will bike/walk the extra distance to take advantage of great prices. I love a good deal, what can I say! Thanks
