You know sometimes with highly rated up and coming Asian restaurants, I get a little skeptical of the authenticity of the dishes. Like for me, there's a prime difference in expectations with Din Tai Fung and Kei Concept restaurants vs your typical mom and pop business. Yet as someone who has had soondobu throughout the years, of all different variations, I can say that this one of my most favorites that I've tasted. And I could already tell from the moment I entered. Although the establishment looks modern, it has a traditional feel, with wooden tables, flat chopsticks, and the friendly but bustling Korean auntie waitresses who eagerly refilled the banchan at our table. The soondobu came out pipping high and I had to wait a little so I didn't burn my mouth. But with the first bites, I experienced a warm, comforting flavor with its deeply rich broth and silken tofu. Pair this meal with the marinated fish cake, fried fish, and japchae noodles and you have absolute perfection. I'll be returning soon for another meal~ (And yes that definitely beats BCD in terms of taste, cost, and wait time.)

I came to try new item today (Jokbal salad) as well as get the fried yellow croaker and bibimbab. The Jokbal salad was refreshing and delicious, while I love the crunch and slight burned rice of the stone pot bibimbab. They were all so good! Staff were busy and attentive. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. Come early evening before the long line starts.

There was no wait and we were seated right away Monday evening. It did take a while for the food to come out though. I got the beef tofu soup and it was very savory. I like that they give you a lot of beef and tofu. I got mild which wasn't too spicy for me at all and still had a kick. The sides were also good. I liked the tteokbokki that came with the fish cakes. The staff was also very attentive and would ask if we needed anything.

Rating: 9/10 Third time trying It's Tofu this is officially my go-to now. Better than BCD. Banchan was all very fresh and well-prepared. The fried fish is great. Hot, crispy skin with flaky meat. LA galbi was solid, good flavor and portion. The pork tofu soup (ordered spicy) had a real kick. I usually go medium, but spicy was still enjoyable. Broth was rich and satisfying. Overall, super consistent across visits. Quality, fresh, and great service.

Can't wait to come here again ! The fish was the super crispy, which is exactly how it should be. The galbi (short ribs) came out steaming hot and perfectly seasoned If you're looking for a solid Korean spot with great portions and quality, this is it!

This place is called Its Tofu, but the braised cod fish dish is bussin!!! It must be an insider item because most tables were enjoying it. The sauce is savory, fish is flakey, radish is a nice touch.. this dish is way easy to eat. Great to share among 2-3 people. Bonus points for friendly service and clean establishment! Really enjoyed our experience.

This is the spot for casual comfort Korean food with sundubu as the main dish and a variety of combination options to choose from. Highly recommend the stone pot bibimbap or the cold noodle. Best part is after multiple visits trying different dishes, the food is consistently delicious and staff always gives great service. The restaurant seating is limited and can get busy on weekend during meal times so best to get on Yelp waitlist on your way there

I like It's Tofu better than BCD, haha. In my opinion, the best flavor is the Crab Miso soondubu. The inside is really clean, service is really fast, and the banchan selection is great and they come in generous portions. While it is a bit pricier than other places, it's worth it just for the Crab Miso.

I was craving for Korean food, so we decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews. The restaurant resembles a small diner, with a small row of wooden booths in the middle and booths lining the walls. The name of the restaurant can be seen in the back in purple lights and printouts of food recommendations are taped on every wall that's in the restaurant. This place was cute and looked homey. We ordered the following: # 12 pork and Kimchi tofu soup (mild)- Hubs liked it a lot. He couldn't finish it and brought it back to the hotel room and finished it. This was pretty good. We loved that they gave a raw egg with it. #27 Spicy Squid stone pot bibimbap- this was delicious. Daughter was picking at this all night. It's one of her favorite things to eat. The rice was nice and crispy. We poured hot tea into the pot to finish off the crispy rice. Hubs thought that this was one of the best stone pots that he's ever had in a very long time. #29 Tobiko Steamed egg, which is steamed egg with flying fish roe. Daughter loved this a lot and attacked this. She said that this was delicious. Hubs found the flying fish roe to be a bit salty. We remembered the olden days when the steamed egg was part of the banchan and there was no charge for it. Included with the banchan was a deep fried baby mackerel. Hubs loved it and ate the whole thing. The servers were walking around with an iPad to take everyone's orders. Service was quick and friendly. I'm already missing this place. Will definitely return when in the area to try other items on the menu. read more

I had came here because I heard it was like BCD Tofu House but it was even better than I had imagined. It's better! The side dishes that came out with the food tasted so fresh. I had opted for the Bulgogi bibimbap since it came with a tofu soup and I had got the seafood tofu soup. It was sweet and perfectly salted. Everything that came out I had nothing negative to say even their LA Galbi fell cleanly off the bone. My family and I love kimchi so when we had asked for more, they consistently brought more side dishes when it was running low. I am not a fan of Nu-Rong-gi but it was so comforting and addicting paired with a bite of Galbi and kimchi. Their service is so quick and friendly. 100% I would come back again! read more

*Way* better than BCD. Service was attentive, and after being seated, they immediately brought our banchan out. The spread was delicious, and the croaker was fried to order and perfectly crispy. For mains, we ordered galbi, medium tofu soup with intestine, seafood pancake, flounder, and an octopus bibimbap. Definitely over ordered and underestimated how big the portions would be but we have no regrets because everything was on point. The octopus bibimbap was my favorite dish of the night -- it was laden with octopus and just really hit the spot. The tofu soup had a deep meaty broth and good ratio of tofu to intestine. Flavor was much richer and more savory than BCD. Galbi was tender and well marinated (not too sweet). Flounder was solid, though we could've gone without given that they did bring a croaker as part of the banchan. Seafood pancake was also good with tons of octopus bits. It was green onion heavy, though, so it didn't get as crispy as some other seafood pancakes I've had. Nonetheless, delicious meal overall and will definitely come back! read more

We waited about 25 minutes on a Sunday night. You have to put your name on a waitlist and they will text and call out your name when table is ready. We ordered Spicy buckwheat noodles & LA BBQ short ribs, Spicy raw crab & Mixed tofu soup. Tofu was as good as other Korean tofu restaurants. The spicy crab was ok. It wasn't too spicy. The spicy cold buckwheat noodles were also good and super chewy. It's a spacious restaurant with mostly wooden tables and booths. read more

Found this place after a couple viral videos from social media and after checking out the high rating on Yelp (can never be too sure with viral videos...), we decided to give it a try! There was a 15 minute wait on a Friday night around 6PM (tip, jump on the waitlist via Yelp when you're nearby the restaurant). The restaurant itself is small, but spaced out in a way where you don't feel packed in. Very clean, new, and modern interior. The service was quick and extremely attentive. The "free sides" were all delicious and much higher quality compared to other more well known chains. The tofu soup was delicious and rich in flavor - we got the spicy level and it was just enough spice where you can still enjoy the flavor of the soup without the spice over powering the soup. The beef ribs and raw marinated crab both were delicious. Everything was piping hot and stayed hot throughout our meal. Can't wait to come back, especially when it gets colder out! read more

Food: Mixed tofu soup with spicy raw crab Spicy cold noodle with galbi Verdict: Korean comfort food. Great variety of banchan. The server came around a couple times to re-fill our banchans. Everything tasted amazing especially the tofu soup. Check in on yelp for a free soda but they also offer barley tea. read more

Came hungry, left a bit disappointed. Service is fast and friendly so that's a plus. The banchan was a decent amount, but only okay in taste at best. The vegetable soondubu was extremely bland - like water with spice but no flavor. Had higher hopes for this tofu spot. Hopefully it improves. read more

The broth still had depth and richness, but the saltiness overshadowed some of the other flavors. Because I've had better experiences here before, I am still giving it 4 stars and would likely return. I'm hoping this visit was simply an exception rather than the new normal.

It's my 5th time coming here, and unfortunately this place was one of my favorite Korean restaurants and since I'm from out of town I make sure to visit each time I am in the OC. I'm not sure if I want to continue coming back here if service remains this way. The buffet area is in the center of everything, and there's a good amount of space between tables and within the buffet section.

It's located near Zion Market (towards the right side)... The LA Beef Short Rib was so good! I love that... The combo is a better value - each dish is too expensive by itself - even though it might be smaller portion than ordering it by itself; I still think it had a decent amount. I ordered the #34 Combo of the Short Rib + Tofu Soup (Seafood) $33.95. If you order the beef by itself, though, it's $33.95! The soup was good too. #32 Spicy Buckwheat Noodle $18.95 I liked how super cold chilled the noodles were. It's refreshing with a little kick. #27 Bulgogi Stone Pot Bibimbop $21.95 I should NOT have ordered this one. The bibimbop was honestly whatever and not worth that price. The service wasn't that great, though. They never checked on our table. The banchan (side dishes) were just okay. Not all side dishes are refillable. You have to order one order per person to refill side dishes (so if you have 4 people, you need to order at least 4 dishes). Personally, we shouldn't have forced ourselves to order another plate to get the refill. I can see why this place gets busy/popular, though. I wish the prices were more reasonable for each dish though, so the combo makes it more in the regular price range/per dish. read more

The short ribs and pork belly were much sweeter than what I'm used to at BCD. The side dishes were just okay, but BCD's are definitely better. Prices here are also $1-$3 more expensive than BCD. I came here to avoid the wait at BCD, but now I realize the wait is worth it. Even though BCD is super busy, they always provide excellent service. I had a great experience at It's Tofu. Everything we ordered was flavorful, comforting, and felt very authentic. The tofu soup was the standout--rich, spicy, and perfectly comforting with just the right depth of flavor. The LA BBQ short ribs were tender, juicy, and had that perfect sweet-savory balance you hope for. The seafood pancake was crispy on the outside, packed with seafood, and not overly greasy. The stone pot bibimbap came out sizzling hot, with a great mix of textures and a nicely crisped rice layer at the bottom. Service was friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe made it a great spot for a casual but satisfying meal. I'd been hearing about this restaurant on social media for quite a while and I was super excited to try it out. And it was totally worth the hype! I got the seafood soondubu and the broth was so full of flavor. There was plenty of seafood in the stew too. But I feel like the real value is their side dishes. The quality of food here is good and they're generous in their portions. It's nice to go to a soondubu restaurant that doesn't nickel and dime you. Service was friendly and prompt too! The seating in the restaurant is mostly made for smaller parties though, so that's something you might want to consider if you have a larger group. I really enjoyed my meal! The galbi was so tasty and it was perfectly marinated and tender. I also ordered the dumpling tofu soup, which was a pleasant surprise because it had little bits of beef in it, adding extra richness to the broth. The side dishes were fresh and flavorful, and I especially loved the pancake and the glass noodle. Both were standout dishes. The only downside was that the service was a little slow, but to be fair, they seemed understaffed that night. Still, the staff was friendly when they did check in.
