I pretty much have the biggest sweet tooth ever, so when I found that a candy store had opened in Valley Fair, I knew that I had to stop by while doing my routing back-to-school shopping. You can't miss it with it's bright colors and candy covering nearly every inch. With virtually every kind of chocolately, gummy, and sour candy imaginable, it really did make me feel like a kid in a candy store. They also carry many other candy novelties, which make for great gifts for your favorite sweet tooth...or yourself. Be careful what you pack your goodies in though. How do you not walk into this store? It's colorful, lures you in with cutesy items, and actually smells wonderful once you get close enough to the goods. I was immediately drawn to the back wall where they have special treats from Japan like exotic Pocky and KitKat flavors and even the Crave Japan box that has a surprise assortment of tasty snacks from Japan. They had a special Sour Patch Kids section that had giant boxes, special edition ones, and even Funkos of the different characters. Now I'm not going to lie there was a brief moment where I considered if it was edible but upon further inspection it is definitely just a Funko Pop. The middle of the store has a bunch of self-serve containers where you can pick and choose different candy. There's a huge selection and they seem to have a deep variety of gummy bears. The only thing is that kids love a good candy store and when they see candy they kind of go crazy. There were a lot of hands grabbing straight from the bins so I would recommend getting prepackaged goods if you're squeamish about that. One other thing I love to check out is what Pusheens they have in season. This time they had extra large plain Pusheens, the normal size mermaid tail Pusheen, and some little key chain ones as well. One of them was holding a chip bag that actually crinkled like a real chip bag. This place reminds me of when I would go to a convenient store back home in the Philippines... it was not as clean and fancy back home, but boy there were tons of candies to choose from and they're all for the taking! I would bring my money and just tell the lady to pick each candy and put it in a plastic bag....same like It's Sugar but you do it yourself and you pay by weight. What I like about It's Sugar is the fact that there have sweet, sour, spicy, candies, chocolates...pretty much everything you can think of! And did I mention they have candies and chocolates that are huge...yes, huge like Reese's peanut butter cups that are a pound! So be a kid at heart and eat your heart out at this place! The only thing this sad candy shop Hurley has going for it is its location in the very popular Valley Fair Mall. Other than that the staff are rude and the candy is entirely overpriced. When I came there on a weekday night to get a special treat for my child I was sorely disappointed that although there was only one other customer headed landline the transaction took more than 5 minutes. It was very clear to me that the cashier was joking around with a friend. That's all fine and good, but can I just pay for my candy and leave??? They offer a good selection of candy (similar to Sweet Factory) and the store is brightly lit, colorful, clean, and organized. The only downside is how expensive it is. I'm glad this place opened up in Valley Fair. I'm a candy fanatic and have some fond memories of going to Sweet Factory back in the days when they were still open. I think every mall should have a candy shop so you can stop by and refuel on energy before you continue on your trek for more shopping. It'Sugar has an amazing variety of candies for everyone's sweet tooth. I opted for three bags: Sour, Gummy and Chocolate (about 1/2 lb of each). They even had my all time guilty pleasure Nik'L'Nips (wax soda bottles). Very pleasant surprise to see them! They even have candy themed apparel and accessories. Earbuds, lunchboxes, tshirts, pillows, etc. Customer service was nice enough. She recommended some products to me based on my purchases. Came here for National Candy Day!!! This place is kind of unique in that they sell novel candy related gifts and also some oversized candy treats. The employees were friendly and helpful. The candy selection is smaller than Sweet Factories though thus I had to minus a star. read more

I needed some stocking stuffers for Christmas and ended up in here on a whim. it is overwhelming at first, I'm not even a candy fan but they have a ton of stuff! I ended up with: Mustache growing drink - too sweet! Tabasco chocolate - he loved! Pac Man Mints - so so. So did I get what I neeeded? Yep and the items turned out perfectly. I also saw some Hello Kitty stuff that I always want to take home, but I didn't. My collection just can't grow too much at a time! The cashier girl was also very friendly and helpful. WOW. CANDY HEAVEN!! I love this place, it has all the candy, chocolate, gum, and other stuff all in one place. Giant gummy bears, giant nerd boxes, giant syrup bottles. They have hilarious jokes on some candy wrappers, and great joke items like "chill pill" that will make your "drinks" taste better. I cannot put into words how awesome this place is. If you love candy, if you love cute items, this place is definitely worth a visit! It tends to be very crowded with kids though, and people are always taking pictures with the items. read more

Along with the candies in the jars that you scoop and pick up, they also have like novelty candy and regular commercial candies like Nerds and M&Ms on the side. It's a nice place in here decorated to be a large human size version of candy land. It's no Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory, but an oompa loompa could possibly live here. My boyfriend has a HUGE sweet tooth, but since he would raid this store clean, we decided it would be best if I bought our candy. There was a good selection of gummy bears, M&Ms, some chocolate covered candies. Price is $14/lb, which is on the steep side. There's also a large selection of novelty, non-candy items.There were some candies I wanted, but I'd have to get the whole box/package. After checking every section, I left with a a little over 1/4 lb of candy. Generally, there's a lot of repetition of the same type of candies. For a similar selection and better price, I stick with Sweet Factory. For unique candy items, I'd stick with Aji Ichiban. read more

I'm shocked this place has such high ratings...I mean, "it's sugar", but it's definitely not quality. The candy in the bins is generic and cheap. Basically tastes like wax and sugar. Or wax, sugar and citric acid depending on the cady you choose. And I also have to agree with the other comments about the service. My kid loves this place. Well, duh. It is a candy store, after all. I think that it's the GIANT candy that really is the draw. It's true that I am always tempted to get one of those enormous boxes of Nerds or bottles of Quick. Every time my family goes to the mall we must stop in. After trekking an hour south from San Fran to the urban sprawl called San Jose for a outside birthday party, arriving, then enduring 4 hours of smalltalk with parents that I have zero in common with, in dreaded southbay temperatures that exceeded Fahrenheit 451, my family decided that the best thing to do was to cool-down in one of the big malls San Jose is famous for. Once inside, it soon became apparent to me that all of the city of San Jose metro area's flotsam, jetsam, bridge, and tunnel realized that, because they don't own an air conditioner, time has come to steer the extended family to the mall for a fancy meal at the foodcourt Having skipped my morning Starbucks in fear of making it to the birthday on-time, and at-risk of allowing my caffine depravation cause a splitting headache, I had no choice but to stand in what turned-out to be the longest Starbucks line I have ever witnessed and it wasn't even during morning rush hour. After a good 25 or so minutes, walking-out with coffee in hand, I was jolted into this store by my family who immediately bee-hived into this bright gluttonous hypoglycemic crack house. My wife caved to the kid's begging, picking up a bag and strategically putting about what seemed like a handful of corn syrup cancer causing gummys, liquorice and Swedish fish candies in it. Meanwhile, I drifted and became mystified by the gargantuan gummy blue sharks the size of my forearm, containing enough sugar for a grown man's yearly allowance. As my wife dropped-off the equivalent of a $3.00 retail priced bag of Swedish fish, the guy behind the counter asked for $16. Now, a 50% markup from retail is a lot; 100% is a ripoff... but a 500% markup is called HIGHWAY ROBBERY. If it were me, I would have returend it on the spot, but my wife, although shocked, felt it was too late to do anything, falling for the same price weighing racket that shady salad bars use. May everyone become aware of your trickery and may your business fold as a result. Nobody should pay that much for fake sugar. read more

It's okay, but last time I went to fill up a bag, I got a dozen pieces (Swedish fish, coke bottles, gummy bears) that had been bitten in half by lookie-loos sampling. It's disgusting and unsanitary. I saw this store walking in Valleyfair today & I didn't remember this store being in there before so I decided to walk in since I saw a wall of Hello Kitty items. This store is located right next to Victoria Secrets & sells candy as well as some other cute stuff from loungefly. I wasn't going to buy any candy, but then I saw BLUE GUMMY BEARS! Yeah, that's right BLUE RASPBERRY GUMMY BEARS! So I bought a lot of those and mango gummy bears. They have gummy bear flavors/colors in separate bins so it's easier for you to choose which you want. They also have mini gummy bears that has blue gummy bears too! The concept is basically like Sweet Factory, you get a bag and fill it up & they weigh it. The candy is pretty pricey, but then what other candy store isn't? It is $2.99 for 1/4 pound and $11.96 for a pound. The other part of the store had super hero logo water bottles too, like those re-useable ones and a coke fridge that stores coke, which is pretty awesome! I will definitely come back for those blue gummy bears! & because their candy is kept fresh and the gummy bears & the gummy rings I bought were actually chewy and not hard like it's been there for a long time.The people who work here were also very nice and talkative, which is a total plus :) read more

This place is pretty freaking awesome. It is like a CLASSY sweet factory. They have a lot of knick knacks like weird band-aids, funny notepads, hello kitty stuff, etc. On top of all that, they have CANDY. They have candy that you fill into a bag, weigh, and pay for. They also have candy by the pounds or HUGE gummy bears or even sugar free candy!! I was so excited to see the sugar free section but was super disappointed to see it for $5.99 for such a small bag. The perk of it was the many different selections they had for sugar free candy but the downfall was the price. Although I love this store for the variety of candy, I could not give it 5 stars after my son and granddaughter told me a horrible story. They said, some man goes there often and dips his HANDS in the chocolate bin then eats it. The sales clerk was the one that told them that this man comes into this store a lot, several times a day. This place is loaded with candy and candy themed merchandise. Some unique items here are the GARGANTUAN rice crispy treats, the Nerds' stuffed animals, and the giant hello kitty dolls. The candy is not that pricey. It's the merchandise that is so pricey. The stuffed animals and T-shirts are almost as expensive as Sanrio.
