I wanted to stop by here, while we were on the mall, to pick up some Christmas gifts. We were warmly welcomed once inside. It's extremely busy in there. It's not too big inside so it can get crowded. I made my selections and waited to check out. There was a lot of confusion on who was next. We were finally helped and we were able to select a chocolate of our choice for our free sample. Located on the 2nd floor of the Valley Fair Mall atop Nordstrom, came here after a horrendous situation at the Fremont location. I won a See's gift certificate at my company's White Elephant Gift Exchange this year, so I stopped in to pick up some chocolates. This was between Christmas and New Year's, so the store was pretty empty. The friendly woman behind the counter gave me and my friend chocolate samples right away. I really like dark chocolate covered almonds and quickly found a pre-packaged bag of them. There were a few dollars left on the gift card so my friend grabbed a couple butterscotch lollipops. When we were leaving, the worker gave us each several more samples to take with us. It was very generous of her. See's was part of my childhood and going there brings back fond memories. read more

5 stars for the product, but the customer service could use a bit of fine tuning at this location. Maybe it's part nostalgia, but I love See's more than any other chocolate in the world! My 96 year old grandma loves it too. So much so, we get her a box of Rocky Road for all the special occasions throughout the year. This visit, I asked for the usual: a slab of Rocky Road in a half pound box. The young man asked if a broken off chunk and a few stray pieces would work. (Not presentable, but I guess at least he asked before just boxing it). He must have seen the look on my face because he then said "well, I can get a new slab in the back". So I replied, "yes, please". He returned with the full slab and looked pretty perplexed on how cut it to fit the half pound box, so I told him I'll take the full slab and to put it in the one pound box, which he did. But then told me he couldn't not wrap it because it wouldn't fit. What? It's wrapping paper, and it's always been wrapped every year, no questions....except "would you like this wrapped?" I also had to ask for a free sample at checkout. It's almost a "See's custom" to be asked when initially greeted. I get it, it's busy with the holiday season, but hello. read more

The two ladies working this Wednesday night were great! I loved how cheerful and genuinely happy they were to service us. The one who gave me a sample was very thorough in inquiring my kind of treat before offering me a dark chocolate cafe Au Lait truffle (she first asked milk to dark, then fruit, nuts, coffee preference). I also saw how patient they were with other guests who were really studying the piece options intently. They were pretty nice with giving those guests the piece they asked for to sample. After a long day of work I it made me smile to see them still enjoying their day (or rather night) of work. I also tried a new to me candy thanks to fellow Yelp friend recommendation! And those almond royals are gonna be hard to ration.... I give myself maybe a month before the tub is done. read more

IMHO Don't ya love the smell of chocolate when you walk into a See's Candy store? I had a $25 See's Candies gift card to redeem for my father-in-law and was thrilled that Valley Fair has an actual store there! It has been forever since I've been into one, and I received sticker shock when I did. I remember the pound boxes of candy costing $16. Today's pound boxes are $27.50! Dang, it's been a while! Still, there are so many delectable choices to make, all "eye candy" (pun intended), and yummy. Yes, they still do offer free samples of their candy! The stores are always bright in their black and white decor with splashes of red boxes and seasonal candy gifts. I chose a tried-and-true favorite: Nuts and Chews. I was craving chocolates and this was the closest location to my work. This is one of my stops when I would go to the mall. I can only have white chocolate and luckily Sees has a variety of options in their selection of mostly dark and milk chocolates. The service was excellent as the staff who helped me was nice and friendly. Store was clean and displays were on point. Samples weren't offered but she did to other customers. Not that I would have taken any since I saw it was all milk or dark options but it would be good to be consistent on the offers. I got the polar bear paw, divinity puff, strawberry truffle, and apple pie truffle. These were all delicious and satisfied my cravings. read more

Great experience at See's Candies earlier today! This is the location at Valley Fair Mall. Basically, I was craving some chocolate and trying to decide between Godiva and See's. The Godiva clerks weren't really smiling when I walked by, so I decided on See's (better store lighting). Was greeted when I strolled in. I ended up picking up a bag of chocolate hearts (I wanted some truffles but a couple was standing in front for like 3 minutes! So forget that). Anyway, when I went to go pay and check out, the cashier gave me two free samples. Score! She was very friendly and I felt like I received good customer service. Gummy lovers, check out the new strawberry gummies in the packaged candy section. It's sort if expensive at $7-8 a bag, but they're good! The other flavor they have in the gummies are a mixed fruit bag with three or four different flavors in it on the counter. It's been there since last year. The soft& crunchy mints are leas expensive at $4-5 a bag & delicious as well. The caramel apple lollipop isn't bad. There's also a new cinammon one, but I didn't try that one. Delicious chocolate, free samples & exceptional service. I now know why I've never stepped foot in Godiva a few feet away. See's has pleasant service, kind employees, free samples, amazing lollipops, sugar free options, tasty peanut brittle, sensational seasonal products & more! I came in with a friend after practically being snubbed at Godiva for not having a basket full of potential chocolate purchases and went straight for the seasonal St. Patrick's day potatoes filled with divinity filling (think of lots of soft chewy creamy nougat with walnuts) enrobed in luscious milk chocolate coated with a blend of cocoa powder and cinnamon, nicely topped with 3 pine nuts. I had wanted to try this for 2 years now and I'm glad I did! I'll be coming back for more. My favorites here: -Vanilla, butterscotch, and seasonal Christmas mint lollipops -Assorted mini pops (vanilla, chocolate, butterscotch, and caffe latte) -Toffeettes: perfectly bite sized and not too hard to sink your teeth into -chocolate drops: you'll end up eating at least half the bag after you start -seasonal St. Patrick's day "potatoes" -samples, samples, SAMPLES!! My family's favorites are the molasses rectangle chips, milk Bordeaux, milk mocha, polar bear claws, white chocolates, milk chocolate hearts during Valentine's Day, their red white striped mints during Christmas, and many others. I grew up with See's candy. The chocolate is yummy to me. Not too rich. Not too sweet. Just right. Price is decent. They always give you a sample when you come in and go to the counter even if you're a friend shopping with a buyer. I saw one shady guy come in for a sample and just left without buying anything nor was he with anyone who did buy anything. You can get a pound of chocolates and choose what you want in it. Usually comes to $20 more or less. They even wrap the box for you with a pretty elastic ribbon and a sticker if they have the type of sticker you need. I needed Happy Anniversary which they had a sticker for! Always bright white and clean feeling in here. Staff always look well groomed and clean and happy. As a part of the mall, this See's Candies is my most visited location. I love the fact that this company has such a rich history. When I was away from the Bay Area, I was shocked that so many people had never heard of See's. Now it is very important to explain why I prefer See's to other chocolate places. The most obvious comparison I need to make is See's vs. Godiva. 1. See's is cheaper. By eons. 2. See's always gives free samples. Godiva is pretty sparing with theirs. Although, I am part of the Godiva Club where I receive a free chocolate every month. That might make up for it. 3. See's has more options. I can always find something I like at See's. Their apple pie truffles are so flavorful with a delicious chocolate outer coating and even tiny chunks of apple inside. Godiva has some interesting options, but I am not really drawn to any of them. Godiva is a more truffle centric store, while See's has such various types of candies including; their fudge, peanut butter patties, royales, and much more. 4. Taste. In brief, I just like the taste of See's better. I always make "yummy" noises when I am eating my See's candy, but I usually think that Godiva is not as flavorful. Maybe it is just that See's is much sweeter, but the supposedly "higher" quality of Godiva does not convince me that it tastes any better. 5. I also love the See's lollipops! I am always excited for their pumpkin ones to arrive, and I am eagerly awaiting their arrival in stores this year. They are so delicious and have a prevalent taste of pumpkin and cinnamon. I love the See's Bon Bons!!! They are my favorite item at See's Candies. My family and friends indulge in soft center and nuts and chewy mixes. See's is always around whether if I am at home or if I am at a friend's house. I also like the chocolate cigars. They are tasty and great to give as gifts. The prepackaged items displayed on the walls are wonderful. Seeing what is in the boxes helps me select an item I know I will enjoy. Lastly, and always a wonderful treat, the free sample is divine.
