I've driven past this See's for years and finally stopped in today. It's in an aging strip mall that I'm not crazy about. Today when I pulled in there was a homeless man getting dressed in front of the store. I went inside and was pleasantly surprised by how bright and spacious the store was. They had lots of Easter candy on display. I was immediately greeted and given a choice of several different types of chocolate samples. The homeless man, now dressed, came in the store and said something indistinguishable to one of the sales associates. She offered him a sample and called him sir. He took one and left. I was very impressed by the sales associate and asked her if she always treats homeless people like that. She said yes. As I looked around, I was asked several times if I needed help, even after I told them I didn't. One sales associate joked she wasn't going to stop bothering me. I selected a bag of dark chocolate almonds, almond brittle, and a treat bag and took them to the register. This is where their behavior really did start to bother me. The person who rang me up lightly suggested I needed to buy more stuff and pointed toward a display of Easter candy on the counter. I said no thanks and laughed it off, but then she proceeded to push the greeting cards and then the candy again. This kind of aggressive approach is a turn off and they should rethink their upselling tactics. To her credit, she added several free wrapped caramels to my bag and someone else offered me another chocolate sample before I left. Very generous. The chocolates I bought are delicious and I will always continue shopping at See's. read more

My parents used to go here all the time because in the "old days", if you showed them your work badge from whatever company you worked at they gave you an additional discount. I just had to rave about the AWESOME customer service I received at the San Carlos street location of SEES CANDIES. I had to purchase a last minute birthday gift for a friends mother who has a love of SEES products. I was immediately greeted by a worker with a sample and who answered my questions regarding the Birthday boxes. I opted to look around a bit and I was then greeted by, I believe the Manager named Elipidia. Either way she made some great suggestions on assembling a "build a box" but I opted for the Gift box with the beautiful packaging. I also picked up the "Dia de Los Muertos" candy boxes. Really was impressed with the offerings. Didn't have as much time as I would have liked to look around but I'll be back. So A+and FIVE STARS for my Sunday afternoon visit. The lady that helped me (the assistant manager) was so rude and not helpful AT ALL. i ordered a half pound and the entire time she seemed so annoyed to help me, gave me side eye, and when i tried asking to try one of the chocolates she seemed so angry. Then after i paid, she didn't give me a sample I had to literally ask her if she had any samples and she said in the rudest tone, "we only have almond and peanut butter samples" (i'm allergic to nuts), so i asked if they had any non-nut samples and she replied "no." She literally gave a non-nut sample to the customer IN FRONT OF ME. Genuinely never want to come back to this See's because of this one worker. read more

So my mom had some Sees gift cards that she got from Costco and she wanted to use them. A few days before this she went to another Sees to buy candy and was given a $5 discount coupon from the girl behind the counter. We came to this Sees because the other Sees didn't have the candy we wanted. So the lady at the counter told my mom that since she already got a discount at Costco on the gift cards she would not allow her to use the $5 discount coupon. She said because we already got a discount from Costco. Honestly I could not believe this lady. What does that have to do with being able to use the discount coupon?!!!! Because if this lady treating us this way, we will not be going back to this location. She made us feel like she was losing money from her personal wallet. I was in the mood for my favorite candies from See's ( the Walnut Squares ) yesterday so I decided to pay them a visit and buy a few. This See's is a " factory outlet " supposedly and I would believe that the candy here is slightly older than the candy at other See's shops, and I do believe I'm right because my candies weren't exactly fresh and I didn't enjoy them this time as much as I do others. I think I learned my lesson and will only buy them from " fresh " shops from now on. See's Candies just aren't very good when they're not fresh. read more

It's dangerous to keep a box around me, as I could piggle it down in a matter of days! *oink oink* 1) Cashew Brittle- My love for Cashews is legendary amongst my friends and family, and when you throw in my white chocolate addiction to the mix--it's game over! Combine that with their amazing Brittle and that makes this my #1 See's treat of all-time. I remember the first time I took a bite, my mind almost seized up. It's that good. Service & Ambiance- Always fantastic service by the ladies in the white uniforms with black piping, they're always too happy to offer you free samples while you wait in line--and when you get to the counter! The only downfall of this location is it's located in the SJ's shady Burbank neighborhood; where riff-raff is as ubiquitous as the potholes, and you're always guaranteed to be hit-up by some homeless schmuck in the parking lot. Value- While there are many SC locations throughout SJ this is my "go-to" one because they're the only one that participates in the "Sweet Savings" discount program; you can get up to 20%-off select pre-packaged items, such as boxes of mixed chocolates and select candy bars. The Sweet Savings program is not for everyone, as it's based on who your employer is; they have a giant book with a list of eligible employers so if you're not sure ask and they'll check. You'll also need to show them some sort of valid work ID, as they don't accept business cards with your name on it (I learned that the hard way). Even without the discount SC is still cheaper than most of these high-falutin' chocolate shops these days--and twice as good! SC is also a great place for gift-giving on holidays (i.e., Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Anniversaries, Christmas) as I've never known anyone to disapprove of receiving a box of delicious See's chocolate. Just remember to shop early if you're going in before a holiday, otherwise be prepared to wait in line. However, in my book, there's really no reason to have to wait for holidays before you visit SC--as you know you've earned it. C'mon in, and treat yo' self, son! read more

Sees candy or the DMV I really don't know the last time I came to this place the service was incredibly awful. I waited in line for 15 minutes when there was no one in front of me the associate that was going to help me was too busy chitchatting with her coworker instead of coming to help and kept saying I'm on my way I'm on my way but had me standing there like an idiot. The service seems to be bad almost every time I come to this location so because of this I no longer go here. read more

See's candy always reminds me of older adults and teachers. When I was a student those were always the gifts and boxes passed out at Christmas. As an older adult I've come to appreciate the timelessness of the chocolate. I've also begun to realize that no other chocolatier does the variety box quite as well as Sees. I do enjoy all their chocolate / caramel / nut options and if you're looking for variety they do introduce seasonal candies all year long. Five stars for excellent service by the ladies in the white uniform with black piping and buttons and for the chocolates themselves! Since I just wrote a review of Vicky's Restaurant on the same street, I thought I may as well do my review of a childhood favorite...that's right folks! Back in the day, growing up in Coronado, California, I recall the excitement amongst my siblings and I when mother would get the *white* box with "Grandmother See" on the box cover! My mother loved the nuts and chews variety box type but sometimes father would purchase other variety types for his lovely sweetheart! As children not all flavors of candies in that white box would generate excitement (cherry, marzipan, nougat to name a few) so I would get a butter knife and cut a chocolate in half to look and sniff to see if it met my standard for consuming...hey, at least I didn't bite into it and leave it in the box as carrion for the others to gross out at! Flash forward and as an adult, I now have the choice to fill the white box with whatever type of chocolate I want (or for the recipient what they want!). I've been to this location for school fundraisers to discuss with the person in charge what type of program our school was going to do that particular year. I've always had great service here. While there are many branches for See's Candies, this place holds a special place in my heart for the multiple visits I made for school fundraisers as a volunteer when my kids were in elementary school! read more

This store always has a huge selection of novelty sweets! You will find assorted lollipop gift baskets that are always a hit at baby showers, and lots of cool boxed candy at different price ranges. There really is something for everyone. I always pick up the cute $5.00 assortment boxes for the kids. Customer service here is excellent! Everyone knows that See's rocks...so that's a redundant kind of thing to review but I'll say it anyway. I was raised on See's from birth to adulthood. They are my absolute favorite candy. Godiva and other places pale to insignificant comparison next to See's. That classic white flat box with rows of candy inside, my heart beats a little faster whenever I see it. This particular See's is larger than a lot of the other small storefronts, and they carry everything that you could think of. And probably more. At the holidays this is the best place to come as the line is never quite as long as elsewhere and it moves quickly. The little old ladies here are friendly and I absolutely love the whole 'free sweet of the day thing'...how silly is that? But I still get the goofy smile on my face when they hand it over the counter to me with my little baggie. Pure bliss, my See's favorites are: Rum Nougat Divinity Raspberry Creme Lemon Truffle Mint Truffle Anything with caramel, nougat and nuts Peppermint Patties (old school!!) Bordeaux Winner for nastiest See's candy ever is the Marzipan. Whenever my family would get a box, that would be the one that someone bit into and then left there for all the rest of us to go 'EWWWW who bit into the Marzipan. At least throw it away!' I know there are some serious Marzipan lovers out there though, so I figure it's a bestseller for a reason. Ahh sweet See's memories. Ahhh See's...for all the changes in our ever changing world of technology, one thing has remained unchanged...and that is the See's Candies store. Free samples? Yes please! Other confectioners like Godiva try to take your business in the malls but around Christmas time...who do I go to when my neighbor shows up with an unexpected gift or a friend who I didn't expect to give me a gift...I bust out the nuts and chews or the dark chocolate or milk chocolate box. One of these days, I hope that See's will allow us to customize our own boxes...ideally, I would have 80% of it be marshmallow cremes and the rest can be whatever...then I can go pick it up at the store when ready! BUT until then, I'll be back around Christmas with a shopping bag and company ID(for corp discount) ready! read more

There is a lot of places to get chocolate, but here is the only place you can get good chocolate. A lot of assortments of candy to choose from. There is not a lot of See's candy places anywhere, but when you find one, you should stop by. If you choose the right one, you could get some good chocolate. I forgot what chocolate i got, but it was really good. That always happens at See's, you could find a good chocolate and it could become your favorite. Plus, the butterscotch lollipops are the best. They are a pretty decent size at a decent price (85 cents). The chocolate bars are good to, The have 5 different types. Even though some things could be expensive, it will be worth it once you try it.. read more

Right upon entering, I was presented with a platter of chocolates for a free sample. Best service ever! The people that worked here were all super nice and helpful. Plus, the discount for Valley Medical employees is awesome! I had to buy like 6 tins of toffee for my dad, and I saved about 3 bucks per tin. Then, I was offered another piece of free chocolate at checkout. Two free chocolates! Free chocolates and discounts = best day ever. read more

12/29/14 at 3:04. Six min in line. Two people served. Clerk answers a ? about a fundraiser. She disappears with four people in line. The guy at the front is taking his time filling up his one pound box.. I reach my limit at ten min. Second clerk still in "the back" and does not reappear. I put my purchases back and walk out. Lost sale is close to $200 as I needed fifteen pounds of chocolate. I will get cupcakes and donuts and flowers tomorrow instead. This is my second really bad experience here in three weeks. This is the largest See's Candies store I have ever been to as I usually go to the small one in McCarthy Ranch in Milpitas. Immediately upon walking in we were offered a tray full of candies to sample. The ladies working behind the counter were very friendly and not pushy at all. While I was there I found out that you can actually select which candies you want to put into the box rather than buying their prepackaged assorted ones. Woohoo!
