TLDR; iTWorks is incompetent. I've been a Mac person my entire life, but about four years ago, I built my first Windows gaming PC by following a YouTube video. I know just enough about hardware to be dangerous. The PC ran more or less flawlessly until a couple weeks ago, when in the middle of moving into a new house, the PC refused to boot up. I tried power cycling the system about a dozen times, and checked the connections. Nothing worked, so I took it to iTWorks to have it diagnosed, since I was too busy with moving to deal with it any further. The person I spoke with said that they usually deal with laptops, which typically take 3-5 business days to diagnose. With full-on PCs, it could take a bit longer. They charged me $80 up front, and I left the PC with them. Six days later, I got a call from them. They said they had narrowed the problem down to either the video card or the motherboard. They had ordered some kind of diagnostic tool that would zero in on the culprit, and it would be just another day or so before it would be ready to pick up. Four days later, I hadn't gotten any further calls from them, so I called back, and they said they're still waiting on that part. It should be in today, maybe tomorrow. Three days later, I checked in again, and was given the same status. Don't call us; we'll call you. A full week later, I ran out of patience and stopped by to pick up the PC, since at this point I had more time to fiddle with it. They brought it out, no questions asked, and said I was good to go. I thought it was rather odd that they let it go without even mentioning that their diagnosis was incomplete. As soon as I left the shop, I got an email saying "We are pleased to inform you that your repair is complete and your device is now ready for pickup." Again, odd. When I got it home, the PC was still not working, which I expected. I swapped the video card out for another one, but it didn't help. So I decided to replace the motherboard with a cheap used one from eBay. I found one made by a different manufacturer that looked like it would be comparable. Just to be sure it would work, I checked out the manufacturer's website. Scrolling down the page, I noticed that one of the features of this motherboard is a set of 4 LED diagnostic lights that indicate problems with the CPU, RAM, video card, and boot device. Huh. I wondered if my motherboard had the same feature. It did. I powered the computer on, and the LED for the RAM stayed lit. Huh. I hadn't checked the RAM before. I pulled the chips out and rebooted. Same problem. So I put them back in, swapping their positions. It booted up like nothing was ever wrong. So the problem was probably just that the RAM chips weren't properly seated. Shame on you, iTWorks. I didn't know about the existence of the four diagnostic LEDs, but once I did, it took me under a minute to fix the problem. You're the IT professionals, so you should have known about those lights, since it turns out it's a pretty standard feature on motherboards. And then to keep me waiting for three weeks with no resolution in sight! I think I deserve a refund. read more

My iPhone stopped working so I brought it in and paid them 130$ for a priority diagnosis. They told me that there was a logic board error and there was nothing they could do. I then brought my phone to batteries plus bulbs. They changed out the earpiece speaker and got my phone working again for 40$. A simple google search of my phone's symptoms told me that it was the earpiece speaker. I would highly recommend taking your devices to batteries plus bulbs instead of these guys. read more

This place is AWFUL! Went in to ItWorks looking to buy a MacBook at the beginning of the semester. When I asked about purchasing a MacBook Air, they told me they had nothing in stock. Interesting for a business based around selling Apple products to have LITERALLY nothing. All they had were accessories, and not even that many of them. Maybe 4 sets of earbuds. Off to a bad start, but I ended up ordering a MacBook Air through them because I assumed it'd be easier, and that they could get it to me faster than Apple could. Boy, did I have a big storm coming. I ordered the laptop on a Monday, and they told me it'd be in within 3-5 business days. So I call on Friday and ask if there's any update on the arrival of my laptop- they tell me they have not even placed the order. So I say okay, sounds good whatever, local businesses can get busy. They told me they'd have it in ASAP. I call again on Monday to ask what the situation is, and they told me they put in the request and that it could take 3-5 business days to process that and THEN my laptop would ship- which would take another 3-5 business days. This was such a bad experience and they need to give their customers accurate timelines on when their products will arrive- I'm a student at UAF and was told I'd have a laptop by the end of the week, but in their timeline, it would've taken about 2 1/2 weeks. I ended up cancelling the order with them and got my MacBook from Apple within 3 days- plus a student discount which ItWorks didn't do. NEVER. GO. HERE. read more

This is not a place where helps Apple customers. They only take advantage of you when your apple products have problems. I had a battery problem with my IPhone, and Apple customer service sent me to IT works for a free battery replacement. But iT works showed you different faces, first they kept my phone for a week because they said they had many customers, they can't fix it immediately unless you pay extra fee. Ok, I can wait. After a week, they said that they can't provide a free battery replacement even though Apple customer service sent you here. Well, I don't mind to pay if I broke my phone. The point is Apple and I both believe that battery has quality problem, it should get a free battery replacement. The second thing was they sold me a charger for my laptop when they knew it doesn't work on my laptop. I had my laptop with me that day, and they told me that the charger would work for it. After I paid, I asked them if I can try the charger here. And they told me that sorry It won't work on your laptop!! Don't go this place!!! read more

The person at the front desk was incredibly unhelpful and made no attempt to give any estimates on a repair. Take your business elsewhere.

Ok in general I have had a really good experience with the people that work here! (Store related review on their "shitty" place) I had a problems with with my new 8 plus phone and both times this year they have helped and and I had excellent customer service with a young girl who wears glasses ! Today I went to their store and was thoroughly annoyed I went to buy a lighting digital av adapter at the end of my purchase my 5 year old daughter tells me she really has to poop! He denied her using the restroom and told us to use the restroom at Quiznos ... I asked if they have a restroom and to go to Quiznos to use the restroom ..He just shrugged his shoulders .... if you would have said it's your stores policy I would understand ... don't be a shit head and shrug your shoulders...we all know you have a restroom back there and you don't go to Quiznos to go to The bathroom... It's annoyin you deny your customers from using the restroom ! I get you have products back their..... then change to way your store Is laid out ... you'll suck ! read more

I took my 21.5 inch iMac to this store to fix my microphone not once, but twice. Both times it never worked after the "repair". And it still does not work. So much for ANY plans for online school. I am thankful it was under applecare, I didn't pay a dime. I'll take it down to Anchorage to be fixed. At least I know it'll be fixed at the Apple Store, even if it costs me. read more

Skeptical at first because of the terrible previous reviews, but I took my iPhone XR in because the rear camera stopped working. Since I have AppleCare, Apple customer service instructed me to let them try to repair it. I dropped it off on a Friday afternoon, and I just received it back today (Monday). The camera was replaced and everything's working perfect! I wanna thank the employees at ITWorks for their time and effort! read more

Alaska really needs new Apple support service stores. I took a laptop into the store To have it diagnosed and fixed. when I dropped it off we did a inventory of any damages on the laptop. When I got the laptop back they had charged me to diagnose a problem when in fact they could not even figure out what was wrong with it, and they did not fix anything, as a matter fact I got my laptop back with a cracked screen that was not on the inventory sheet when I dropped it off.! . The people that work there are nice enough although the customer service and the quality of work is not acceptable at all. Save yourself the headache and your time and money find another way to have your Apple products serviced somewhere else. read more

Do not go to this dishonest business for Apple service. I took my iPhone 6 here because the battery wasn't charging, even though the phone indicated it was. It cost $55 for them to tell me I needed a new battery. It then cost another $50, for a total of over $100, for them to "fix" the problem. When I brought my phone home, it had the exact same problem! It turns out my charger cord was just getting old and I needed to replace that. I will be contacting Apple to let them know about my experience. read more

Everyone here was SO friendly and helpful! I brought my MacBook Pro in to get the hard drive replaced after it crashed - they had it back up and running in the exact amount of time they quoted me, and actually didn't charge me for some labor that they totally could have. They were great about getting back to me and letting me know what was going on, and I seriously appreciated it. Can't recommend them enough for Mac repairs!! read more

Very nice and friendly, however my wife is still without her phone. We were told that the phone will be over nighted. Then we were told 2-3 days. It's been 2 weeks and still nothing. I don't know if its delayed due to apple not having the phone available or what but itworks shouldn't have said that it will only be a day or two. If I knew if would be this long I would have went a different route. However very helpful and they rectified the situation and were very courteous and helpful the entire time. read more

Don't waste your time and money with this "business". I ordered an iPad mini and paid in full and was told 5 business days for pickup. I called 5 business days later and was told it had not shipped yet. 11 calendar days later I called to see where my order was and I was told 2-3 weeks before Apple would ship it to them. I asked for a refund and I ordered it directly from Apple with free 2 day shipping. I will never shop there again and will advise anyone to do the same. read more

Extremely bad repair experience. Had my laptop for an obvious keyboard problem that is covered by apple in the shop for 10 days. Took them 5 days to look at it and order a part (overnight service) and now another three days to put it in (and I am not certain they manage that today). Think you have a car repair covered by the manufacturer and you need to leave the car for at least 10 days at the shop. Ridiculous! read more

BUYER BEWARE: This business is a scam. Ask about their 15% restocking fee charged on all returns before purchasing a computer here. That means they charge the customer ~$150 just to take a laptop back the same day without even being turned on if you are unsatisfied. In addition to not being very knowledgeable on computer specs, the sales representatives conveniently leave out this detail when you are checking out. They are literally sales robots feeding you rehearsed lines. I know-I used to be a telemarketer. Save your money, time, and frustration by purchasing your mac products online. You will be happy you did. The online store even has free 2-day shipping and student discounts not offered by ITworks. My Experience: I wanted to be a good community member and support a local business. I purchased a MacBook pro from ITworks. After getting to my office I realized it had none of the ports necessary to function in my everyday life. I was using a friend's MacBook pro for the week prior to try it out and wanted to get my own. However, I didn't realize all of the USB and other ports had been removed in the last year on the new version. I called the store back and wanted to return the computer. I didn't think this would be a problem since the computer I purchased was from a return and the box was already opened prior to purchase. They said they were unable to take the computer back the same day without charging me $150 only 3 hours after I bought the computer. I was not informed about the return policy prior to making the purchase. Again, I bought a returned computer so it didn't' cross my mind that there would be any issues returning it if I was unhappy. When I called and finally talked to the manager, John, to work this out there was no customer appreciation at all. He said, "First of all, we are a for-profit business. Our return policy is clearly printed on our receipt." I brought up the obvious point that once a receipt is printed it is already too late for the customer. That didn't concern him and he was unwilling to budge or make any reasonable offer. Not only did he not budge, he blatantly told me that they are only charged 2.7% on all credit card purchases so the "restocking fee" is not just for covering overhead. They are trying to turn a profit on not selling a computer. In addition to not standing by their product, they make the customer feel like a burden and that any time they spend on you needs to be compensated in $$. Never again. read more
