Worst Nachos EVER! First of all, this is Wisconsin, Land of the Cheeseheads. You would think that this business could make some decent Nachos, but no, they do not even use REAL CHEESE. Contrary to what our server said, Nacho Cheese is NOT CHEESE. There is no such thing as a cheese called nacho cheese. As an aside, the atmosphere is cool. The beer is good. My husband and I came here for a late breakfast/early lunch. What a cool place! There are so many neat things in this pub, such as the stained glass window, and lamps from a horse drawn hearse! The food came out hot and in a short amount of time, and service was great. It is a unique pub with interesting history (read it on the menu), and we will definitely return. My only complaint is parking - metered on the street! read more

Best bar in the world! Bartenders are great and the drinks are awesome. I love this bar, it's my kind of place! :)

My drink was a bit pricey and the vodka wasn't to my liking, but bartenders were nice, my friend~date's? drink took long, but great music, and so many diverse ages and races which I am a big fan of. 1st time in this bar, loved it! Hot guys and girls everywhere and a good mix no teeny bopper looking douches or creepy midlife crisis dudes. Although, parking sucks, I had to park behind the building and when I got up there it was freakin' hot. Air conditioning peoples! But they have tables outside which is nice although you can't take the drinks out. I'd go again :) Maybe I can find a cute whiteboy to makeout with next time haha! read more

I haven't been in a while and I was there on Friday 3/2/12 and got the blue gill fish fry. Amazing. I was stunned. Light flavorful batter like my dad used to make, crisp non-oily tater tots and a delicious salad with fantastic balsamic vinaigrette. I frequent Ivanhoe since their food always aims to please. I love Ivanhoe's mahi tacos and my husband loves the grilled buffalo wings and their filet. Now that it's smoke free, I love it even more since I can take my kids in on a Saturday afternoon after walking along the beach and eat a delicious late lunch. read more

Oh' da Hoe... what is there to say? The building has a long history as a bar and the owner strikes a perfect balance between the old and new with the decor. Upon entering, you notice the old, darkly stained wood, ancient cash register, and old timely beer and tobacco signs. The layout is a bit narrow, but what do you expect in a 100 year old building? The crowd is interesting to say the least. The hoe attacks the full spectrum from Racine. You have college kids and their parents to the regular working class Joe Blow. It is also a common spot for local professionals. The beer is pricey for Racine but not outrageously so. I personally enjoy the whiskey selection. Our first time here. We had awesome service and the gouda red pepper dip with freshly made out a chips were delicious. We also had the signature Irish roast beef sandwich I don't remember what it was called but it was delicious and needless to say there were no leftovers. read more

Um...I was super excited to try this place as I've heard such good things about it but it wasn't good and service and food was so so. We were there on a rainy Wednesday night around 5:30pm. When we walked in there were only about 4 guys at the bar and they stared at us like we were in the wrong place or something. This was my first time there. My hubby had been a few times. The bartender said we could sit anywhere as the place was empty. I really like the look of the bar because it had an old Irish pub look but again there wasn't a very welcoming vibe at all. Maybe because we weren't regulars. Not sure...Waitress came and was not very friendly and didn't seem familiar with drink menu. She may have been new. We ordered burgers. Hubby had special Jamo burger with waffle fries and a dark beer. I had a burger with cheddar and seasoned fries with a cider. Just ok burgers seemed like they were frozen and not made from fresh ground beef. I wanted no pink and hubby wanted pink. Mine was under cooked and hubbys was over cooked. Lettuce, tomato, onion seemed days old. Maybe they do not serve a lot of food. Again just ok and not much else to say about it, doubt we will be back for food maybe for drinks. read more

My main concern with any Irish Pub is the quality of the Guinness and here I'm sorry to say it has been poor. I'm no expert but have come know enough to know poor quality in something I love. I've had Guiness from Ireland to my old home in Mass. to California and everywhere in between and have grown acutely aware of when it is off. This has happened to me here three times and each time I had hoped for more so gave the benefit of the doubt. The beer was old and off, you know the taste. It happened with another type of beer as well so the only thing I can guess is that the kegs are old or the lines are not properly cleaned. When I explained to the server and bartenders, as usual they took offense I wonder if most people in Racine just don't know what Guinness or bad beer is supposed to taste like. I'd love to be able to rate the food, but I can't. Most likely the worst service I've ever encountered. It was 9:20 in the evening the grill closes at 10 there were maybe 15 people in the restaurant and I couldn't get anybody to wait on me. Went to Ivanhoe for fish this Friday evening and were disap. We all ordered the perch for $13.00. Two small, overly breaded fried pieces came on each of our plates with bread and fries. Not exactly a generous portion, and not even tasty through all the greasy breading. Won't go here a second time for sure. This same chef makes fish for the 5th Street Yacht Club on Fridays where baked cod is offered. But for some odd reason cod could only be fried at Ivanhoe tonight. What?! Guess we know where to go for baked fish from now on. Too bad because the Ivanhoe has better ambiance. read more

In the land of all things fried and fatty the food was adequate at best. The pita was fried for the appetizer spread. The tilapia tacos were over seasoned. We requested half a bottle of wine to go since we were not finished. Per Wisconsin assembly bill 619 it allows patrons to cork and carry. The waitress and bartender told us they do not follow state law. We were told we could stay and over consume but they would not cork the wine for us to bring home. The wine did not require a cork since it was a twist off. Very disappointed and will not be returning for food or drinks. read more

The atmosphere is great, the staff is nice, good selection of beer on tap, and the burgers are good. So I'm not sure why the irish stew I had today was so sub par that eating half of it inspired me to write this bad review. Pretty good bar if you are looking for Celtic cuisine. They have a wee bit of everything and the atmosphere is nice. They have a lot of TVs for soccer as well. read more

Yum....very good food! I don't remember what the appetizers were named that we ordered, but both were suggested by the bartender and were delicious. One was like a pizza and the other was a bread like item you dipped in a sauce. Sorry, I can't remember what they were called, but I would order them again and again. The bartender didn't seem to know how to make a "black and tan" and my margarita wasn't anything to write home about which I've knocked one star off for....it's a BAR/restaurant...they should make a decent margarita and know how to make a black and tan! Fish tacos were OMG awesome. Just moved to town and looking for places to rival Chicago. Bought a Groupon and tried it out. It was a Saturday afternoon and not crowded at all so I sat at the bar. Ate here 6 months ago, Awesome! Ate here today and will never be back, don't care if it was a bad day for Mr. Ivanhoe. Waitress admitted menu was changed, not like online. Small small portion of regular Mac&Cheese $13 - give me a break! Fake turkey meat on a club and cold everything. Told the waitress and she didn't really seem to care much, but oh well she knew we would never be back. We live in Racine and are ashamed people from out of town will eat here.
