Ivar's has been a life saver while I'm pregnant and craving salmon. They have wild salmon for half the price of most sit down restaurants, with wild rice, cornbread, and coleslaw. While I'm eating salmon again and again, the rest of the family can eat fish and chips or chowder. We love that they have halibut and chips. One of my favorite guilty pleasure foods, and an iconic brand of the Seattle area. I'm both a seafood addict, and long time lover of Ivar's. I've been to this location a few times, and have had Fast and friendly service each time. My food was never under/over cooked, and it was always delicious. It's technically a fast food joint, so while I'm not about to have romantic candle light dinner with just me and my wife here, it's still a clean and enjoyable setting to sit down with your kids for lunch or dinner. I came in one evening, right before close, and I was greeted by two employees on staff. Like most in the industry they were very young. My initially worry, because I'm insecure about these things, is that they were going to be a little ticked off that I arrived right around closing time. I will be reviewing the 5 piece fish and chips, coleslaw, cornbread and white chowder. Ill start first with saying everything was delivered hot and fresh, not a soggy item in the bag! When I first saw the fish I was sad because the picture they look wider than what I was looking at BUT these are deceiving! These are not the casual 8lbs of fry batter with 1 baby piece of fish mixed somewhere in there, no these are ALL FISH with the perfect amount of batter! They were hot, and taste great! The fries were hot and went perfectly with the fish. The only complaint is be more giving with the ketchup :D I got 5 tarter sauce and 1 ketchup.. Now to the coleslaw, it was nice and cold how it should be. This isn't a overly sweet slaw, the vinegar has a good cut with the sweet but it is not overpowering to where you only taste vinegar, and it goes perfect with the fish! The cornbread is basically a cupcake lol save this for desert! Super sweet but so good! Now to that cup of chowder.. Change the name please.. change the name to "Bowl of Heaven" or "Slap your mama Chowder" because it was THAT GOOD! Had nice size clams in the chowder, the potatoes still had a little bit of bite to them rather than being just mush, so you can tell this chowder wasn't pre-made last year and reheated today. I found this place just by being hungry at the right spot. I will eat here again and again. The fish was amazing, the coleslaw and cornbread were outstanding and I would literally box Mike Tyson for another bowl of the chowder! read more

I'm a fan of this Ivar's! They did a great job. Service was very friendly at the counter and the food was fresh and tasty. I think the prices are a tad high for being in a strip mall in Bothell. That's my only gripe. $13 something for a 4 piece salmon and chips and a cup of chowder. That's fine if you're in a scenic area but I think it's a bit high for the parking lot location and for what is essentially fast food. Nonetheless I am a fan and I will be back when in the area! This place is so close to 5 stars I could puke. Everything was great. The service, food, location, price... all great. I recommend ordering the Full Boat, which is around $21. You get 10 pieces of fish, large fries, 2 clam chowders, and 2 coleslaws. Its a lot of food for a great price. I have also sampled the shrimp cocktail, it was fresh and a decent sized portion. I am a sucker for good service. But when a young man like Alex greets you, offers you options and makes you feel like you are at the fancy dine in Ivars - not the quick serve - I am Thrilled. I have been here a few times for lunch and the service has been great and the staff are always cleaning the tables and keeping it clean. And so courteous. If I had kids I would want them to work here for their first job and the food is fresh, generally low calorie, fast and the cool soda machine has the cool ice. Wait. I love Ivars, but not this location! I was helped by the manager who seemed to be having a bad day. Not a big deal itself. When I bit into the fried oysters I ordered, they were practically inedible. It was pretty much fried sand and mud. Every time I've visited the Ivars on the Mukilteo waterfront, I've had crispy breading over a juicy oyster. Not sure what happened here, but it pretty much deterred me from visiting this Ivars again. I can't really eat the oysters in general without thinking about the mud. The interior decorating is modern here for an Ivars and they do have a Freestyle soda fountain where you can get 100+ drinks. read more

A typical Ivar's bar. Set up for fast food and specializing in fish and chips. It is not bad but nothing special either. Clam Chowder - average tasting with slightly rubbery clams. Fish and chips are good and especially the fires. Various different types of fish you can have which is a nice change. Just prefer the batter and taste of some of the competitors. Ivar's has landed in Bothell ! Just opened last week. We have all been waiting for awhile now, watching the progress on the new location. I was there the first day, and they were packed. I was welcomed in and greeted at the counter very quickly. Placed my order for the spicy fish & chips, chowder and slaw. Order came out perfectly, very quickly. I was quite surprised they did such a great job on the first day, very impressive. The food was delicious. Fish was crispy, chowder was amazing. I don't know what Ivar's secret is in their chowder, though I think it may be some thyme in there. Super yummy, super fast seafood. 5 stars for fast food is something I normally do not do, I like to have a view when dining. But, this place deserves it, Ivar's is now, and always has been a very special place. Love it ! read more

Top notch friendly customer service. They greet you with a smile and smile when you pick up your order. They repeat back your order to you to make sure you have everything. They give you plenty of napkins and utensils and whatever sauces you might need. The food is made with care and always looks fresh and clean. Worth the trip and the money if your looking for in my opinion Seattle's best clam chowder and fish and chips. They have salmon, halibut, cod, shrimp and other seasonal fish. I have never had an issue with this Ivars! They are very timely and kind when ordering, very patient if you cannot decide. A few times we've gotten cold fries- but this seems to be an issue at all fast food places so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I came here for chowder after I got my wisdom teeth out and it was amazing because I finally got to eat something but it was also fast and easy. If you need to satiate that fish craving, stop here! read more

Have always loved the freshness of seafood at Ivars and this place is no different. Was in the neighborhood for and oil change. This Ivars is across the street from Grease Monkey, so makes for a perfect stop over while you get your oil change. This was our first visit. We both had the same thing, 3 piece Cod fish and chips. The fish was smaller than we are used to. They taste OK but they are prebreaded frozen that you can buy at the supermarket, nothing special. The fries are fine, they are the frozen thin cut, again OK. Where we had some disappointment was the white clam chowder. It tasted OK, not the best we have had but once more, OK. The sad part was that it was almost all white broth. What used to be one of my favorite places to get my seafood fix, is now very disappointing. While happy about the location and the service is okay, the quality and portion size has gone way downhill. I ordered a three piece cod and it was nearly laughable with what I received. BF ordered the salmon which, while seasoned alright, was very dry. The white clam chowder was small and mostly potatoes...not much in the way of clams. I really wish there was something positive to say, but we left just shaking our heads and unsatisfied. read more

The deep fried salmon was overcook so bad that it had the texture of leather. I always order the salmon and know what to expect and this was a huge disappointment. I would have sent it back but the resturant was jammed and I did not want to have the other party have to wait for the salmon to be re done. Fries were nearly cold. This meal was not fantastic.
