Stopped in for lunch today. Ivars was celebrating its 111th Birthday and they had a buy one entrée and get second entrée for $1.11! Really good deal. Ordered a 4 piece original fish and chips and a Cajun 4 piece fish and chips. Also ordered 2 side Caesar salads and one beverage bill came to less than $19.00! 4 pieces of fish was too much for me, could only finish 2 -1/2 pieces. Fish was good and large pieces. Got the 2 5 pieces cod fish and chips. It was delicious soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Pieces were kind of small. Also got a calamari meal and felt like it more fries with bits of calamari than the opposite. Their garlic vinegar is delicious definitely recommend using that to dip everything in. read more

We are well acquainted with Ivar's. We went to the Ivar's by Washington University. we used the outside venue. Spent 75 dollars and received some pretty mediocre food. The clam strips seemed like they were mostly small, just breading chunks that were deep fried (perhaps the last pieces in a box or bag) and the shrimp cocktail was watery and so suspect for being old and dangerous to eat we did not even eat it. Consistent, decent priced food - especially when the family is craving fish & chips, clam strips, and chowder. Cons: Sketchy part of North Seattle along Hwy 99/Aurora, but fortunately there's a constant stream of customers at Ivar's and the KFC next door. To no exaggeration, this was by far the worst pick up experience I have ever had! Not only did none of the staffs wear any type of face covering, they were extremely incompetent! I ordered a pick up through DoorDash and I arrived at the scheduled time but I was told to wait as my order wasn't ready. I patiently waited for the next 20 minutes, but something was clearly wrong as all the customers who ordered after I arrived had all received their food. Remind you that I waited right in front of the two cashiers/waitresses the whole time! I finally asked why my order was taking so long. To my surprise, the lady said my order was already ready and she didn't know I was waiting. I was the only person standing in front of them for most of the past 20 minutes at 3pm in the afternoon when most of the restaurant was empty! I must be wearing an invisibility cloak for someone to not realize that I was waiting. Go figure. I was pissed for wasting my time waiting there and just left with the bag then. Guess what? Here's my short review: fish and chips. They do it well here so you're safe with the regular variety or their halibut. I'd stick with either of those or one of their chowders. I am partial to the smoked salmon. Grab some of their cornbread muffins (two to one order), they are slightly sweet and moist. Free refills on drinks with posted calorie counts on all of their menu items. It can keep things in perspective when you are ordering your meal. You can also order your fish without chips if you prefer. I do that usually and am fine with opting for cole slaw or cornbread to go with the fish. Bathrooms were clean and the dining area is patrolled by the staff pretty regularly. If you are eating in, they ask you to take a seat and they bring you your meal. During my times there, employees have checked on me to bring me drink refills, wet naps and generally if everything was okay. I liked that attention at a 'fast food' place. There's some outdoor seating but your view would be Aurora or Sam's Club... best to stay inside with your iPhone and check e-mail or talk with your dining companion. read more

We order the full boat and it fed 2 people for $28 after tax. Great seafood meal! The tartar sauce is to die for. Chowder is amazing, good chunks of clam and the right balance of seasoning. Snacking on calamari is also a favorite past time for me. The fish is cooked consistently. The chowder is made just the way I like it. The tartar sauce and choice of different vinegars top it all off. I do occasionally eat different things but those are my favorites. I typically order different dishes at the restaurant locations. This location, from my perspective has much friendlier staff compared to other locations I've been to. Efficient service and a kind word goes a long way.
