My BF and I love this cafe. We were on vacation and liked the cafe soooo much that it was our 1st pit stop every morning before we started our day. I had the americano with1 1/2 shot of hazelnut syrup and my BF had a large house coffee with 2 shots of expresso. Outstanding coffee. We also had the pleasure of sampling their baked goods: scones, cookies, blini, all were just delicious. All staff treated us with exceptional customer service. This is a must go to when you are in the area. PS if you have time, go upstairs and look at their art pieces by local artist. read more

I turned to Yelp to find a place that my husband, kids and I could all find something we liked. This was a great find in a commercial area near Natural Bridges. Cafe Iveta fit the bill! Hit or miss here. Some items are really good but some are wanting. And it is not consistent. One of the most frustrating things to me as someone who finds a dish they like and wants to order it endlessly, is when it isn't consistent and you lose confidence that what you order will meet your previous experience. Looked them up for the hours to make sure that I can get a quick coffee at 8 am and hit the road. Got here 10 min early, waited till 8:00, went inside to order and was told that they're not accepting orders till 8:20 am. Then why don't you post your hours as 8:20? Just ate another DELICIOUS lunch here today and believe that Iveta is probably my favorite cafe in Santa Cruz! ALWAYS yummy food and friendly service. Plus it is kind of off the beaten path, so most days you go in, it doesn't feel too over-crowded or loud... which makes it a great environment to study or do work, as well as have a relaxing conversation with friends, etc! I also appreciate the changing table they have set up in the bathroom, as I have a young child of my own, and am constantly bewildered by how many local, public bathrooms don't offer one! :-/ ...Now, if they also added in a small children's play area (like over at Companion Bakery) my mind would be BLOWN! ;-) Keep it up, Iveta! Time for an update to my previous review as this business has gone downhill. The prices keep going up and the portions are getting smaller. Special requests are taken with a roll of the eyes and then ignored once the food is actually served. The staff working here is ridiculously unfriendly. I get that they are probably students who are over their jobs - but COME ON. So much attitude and no recognition of frequent customers. A real bummer - because the scones are some of the best - I will still purchase the at-home mix. read more

My daughter and I found Iveta's on Yelp and we were not disappointed. On Sunday morning the early vibe was quiet, and the customers when we came in were single older men. Maybe the regulars... Scones were so good I bought two mixes to make at home. Brewed coffee was just okay. Same with the toast breakfasts, just okay but well priced. I had lox etc and my daughter had an egg thing. Just finished visiting the Butterfly Preserve at Natural Bridges when hunger pangs set in We were just looking for something as a snack as we knew we had dinner rezzies that evening - Cafe Iveta pops into view OMG is this place super-scrumptious Staff was nice as could be & they seemed genuinely happy to see us, happy to be there & happy about their delish treats BF got the Roast Beef Sandwich & it was eye-roll-inducingly good. He got it w/ the hot peppers & they were super hot & super gewd. He really liked the overall combination & said the flavors were outstanding - sandwich scarfed! I chose the Hummus Bagel ( on a Sea Salt Bagel ) & it was some of the best tasting homemade hummus I've ever had. The freshness of the cool cucumbers & sprouts, combined w/ the HUGE pile of humus made this a treat I couldn't stop eating I'd totally make this a must-stop when in Santa Cruz & would more especially look forward to trying out their pastries as they looked out of this world! If you like soft and moist scones, this is the place to go! It was perfect because the scones weren't too sweet --- just enough. I don't like the Starbucks scones because they tend to be hard and crumbly, but no so with these! They have 5-6 flavors in their display at any given point in time, and all very good! White choco lavender was exotic, but personally my favorite was the raspberry orange one! Each scone costs an inexpensive $2, but with the Groupons I had, we were able to go home with a box of six yummy scones, two boxes of scone mix, and also a jar of lemon curd. We happened by this new cafe after going for a run to Wilder Ranch. So curious about the sign board on the street we bought we'd check it out. What a treat! We already buy their scone mix and love it. Now we can sample scones before trying a mix? How decadent! We ordered a bit of everything: The caprese sandwich was quite tasty with homemade pesto. We sampled the chocolate chip scone and a raspberry as well - quite tasty as well! We got 2 more for a snack later today. Met a friend for lunch here yesterday. I was told Delaware and Swift is where to meet and was surprised to find such a cute, modern lil cafe tucked into the commercial/industrial neighborhood. Walked in and J said they had great sandwiches so we chose two and shared. The space is very open and bright due to the large front windows. Their seating is minimal but enough for the small traffic they seem to have, although we did come in for a late lunch. The service is friendly and speedy enough. The sandwiches were great though. We shared the Caprese and Roast Beef which both said were served on ciabatta but I am pretty sure the Roast Beef came on a sourdough roll. They were super yummy. The Caprese was well enhanced by the pest spread on the roll and the mozzarella was a wonderful texture. The Roast Beef featured giardiniera of jalapenos (http://www.coco-cooks.com/2010/07/giardiniera-its-a-chicago-thing/) which was awesome. It was a great spice and perfect for the tender slices of beef. We shared a bowl of their eggplant sou as well and thought it delightful. A hint of spiced character really did the trick. Cafe Iveta is really a diamond in the rough. Although it may seem to be in a slightly industrial area, the cafe is nice, with a dog friendly patio and an art gallery too. It also has good service. The food and drinks are also great. I had a delicious roast beef sandwich, which was well made and with moist (but not soggy) bread. For dessert, I had a cinnamon sugar donut muffin. It was as light and tasty as a donut, without all the guilt. As a drink, I had the mint and lime spritzer, or basically a non-alcoholic Mojito combined with limeade. Not to sweet, but delicious. Overall, this cafe is a great place to have breakfast, lunch or simply dessert. I urge you to try their delicacies for yourself. read more

I highly recommended this hidden jewel. It is peaceful and clean, with attractive indoor and outdoor seating options. They have a great variety of delicious, fresh food, and beverages. The mint-lime spritzer is to die for, and the scones are the best I've ever had! The energy of the place is sweet, thanks in part to the recent addition of two 20 something dudes that add real personality to the place. There is also a nice retail corner where you can buy beautifully packaged scone mix, biscuit mix, cookie mix, teas, jam, etc. Great for gift giving! I think this is my very favorite place to eat out in Santa Cruz. I bring every single out of town guest here, despite living on the other side of town. Things I love: --the scones (duh) (especially the white chocolate lavender) pro tip: They will heat them up for you, just ask! pro tip 2: There's an item on the breakfast menu that consists of two scones, clotted cream, and jam. Clotted cream of course is a wonder substance that could make you want to eat a bale of hay. They give you this darling little jar of it. Cute little place hidden away. They use local grown produce for their cooking. Ordered a spicy vegetarian sandwich recommended by the waiter. I have a high tolerance for spicy. The "spicy sandwich" definitely stood up to its name! I loved that I didn't have to ask for extra spicy. 1 star for the cuteness of the place 2nd star for the scones 3rd star for the oatmeal I have tried a lot of things on the menu, but the main things that stand out to me are the scones (white chocolate & lavender has been the best I've had and i hate white chocolate), the oatmeal comes w/ brown sugar and currants and is a good breakfast filler upper. The mocha sucks ass and so does the chai. The customer service is a hit or miss at times. The prices are sort of pricey,($3.50 oatmeal) but for Santa Cruz it's decent in pricing. read more

It's all about the scones here! Especially the chocolate chips one! It's perfectly soft and moist on the inside with a tender shell outside. One thing though-is that that scones are pale in color and doesn't look like they were in the oven long enough. But regardless, I like them and they are delicious! Also, the chocolate chips are melted inside and there is a fair distribution of cc throughout the scone. I also got their latte which I thought was just ok. Not strong enough. It's fine for what it is. The staff is usually pretty friendly. Oftentimes I will be there and get super annoyed at the long line of high school students who have taken over the place during their lunch hour. Other times my order has been forgotten or made improperly. I do go here a lot though because its about three doors down from my job. My friends, who drink coffee, don't have a problem with it. The scones are made with a simple prepared box mix and are nothing special. Then again, they are also pretty good for what they are. The biscuit egg sandwich is delicious. The bagels are good (I think they are from the Bagelry) but they don't give you too much cream cheese. The BLINI IS INSANE-O-MAZING and unbelievably good when heated up. The seasonal spritzers are also pretty good. I do love the BLT. Overall, a good place to hit up when on the westside. read more

Hidden gem! I was excited to hear about this place, thanks yelp! I wandered in to try it today. The location is in fact rough. I drove up and down Delaware twice before I found it. Truth is, it's only hard to find once and well worth it. They have a beautiful outdoor patio area and extensive menu. The decor was tasteful and had a cottage chic vibe. Upstairs loft available for private parties and adorable little room of kitchen supplies and scone mixes. We ordered a ham sandwich, roast beef, blt, egg and bacon croissant, 3 different types of scones, 3 scone mixes, iced coffee, and white mocha. Can you see how excited I was ?!?!. My husband raved about his roast beef and everything was delightfully and sinfully satisfying. I'm only sorry I didn't know about this place sooner and will absolutely be back to enjoy the patio! read more

I think this place tries to make something work in a horrible location however the business plan and atmosphere is off as are the staff. First I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, egg and tomato only to overhear a loud conversation with staff that they were out of cream cheese and that the bread was left out all night and some issue with tomato. Made me wonder what I was going to get on my food... Scones are yummy and coffee good but a place cannot make it on coffee and scones alone. I really don't get the location and highly suggest they take their baked goods mobile and wholesale to better locales as this is just not "it". read more

The location is a bit strange, very office-park looking, I wasn't sure if I was in the right place at first. The inside is very white and sterile looking - reminds me of a professional kitchen. OK, on to the good stuff... I was welcomed with bright smiling faces including by those just hanging out - friendly, welcoming groupies, cool... really good cappuccinos here, excellent cookies that are loaded with flavor.
