Try them out, you may have a different opinion about the cupcakes but they just weren't my kind of treat. The prices are a little high but for a specialty shop like this one maybe that's the price range of cupcakes. We didn't try the cakes so I can't comment on those. The best cupcakes in Nashville! Dare I even say, the best cupcakes I have ever had! I wanted a little something to pass around at a small birthday get together I was having. Cupcakes seemed like the perfect dessert so I did a quick Yelp search and found Iveycake. The shop is really small but cute. You might miss it when driving by. There is a parking lot on the side so it's an easy in and out situation. The interior is pretty basic but charming. I was greeted right away and waited my turn. The flavors of cupcakes are all listed on a large menu on the wall. I will admit, I was going more for prettiness than flavor. I mean, I assumed they were all good and how often do you get a sparkly cupcake? There was a pretty big selection to choose from but I made my selections fairly quickly. I, of course, chose all of the sparkly ones first. I got two with sparkles, one confetti, one cookie flavored, and one oreo chocolate. While I will admit it kills me a little bit to pay about $4.00/cupcake, it's worth it. The quality is there people. I couldn't wait to dig in. And let me tell you, these cupcakes were the hit of the party. Everyone could not stop talking about how good they were. There is a lot of frosting on top but it's not too sweet like most cupcakes. Some places are just too much with frosting inside and on top. It makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it. The cupcakes were moist (I know people hate this word) and flavorful. I had the pink confetti one but also tried the cookie flavor. The frosting literally tasted like cookie dough. YUM! I don't think there was a wrong choice here. One cupcake is plenty per person. This place just opened 3 days ago and already I'm in love! The adorable pink cake shop is tucked away off Main Street and definitely worth stepping off the main drag for a bite of sugary cupcake scrumptiousness. It's also connected to the Mercantile Deli, so if you are eating there, you can just slip through the doorway for your dessert treat. These little cakes are the perfect consistency: ultra moist and dense enough to be substantial without dropping to the bottom of your stomach like a rock. The buttercream strikes just the right balance as well. This isn't one of those situations where you have to scrape half the icing off. The cakes are covered in a perfect little dollop of fluffy, whipped frosting that covers the tasty cake with a burst of flavor and sweetness, but isn't overly thick or buttery. Ivey, the baker extraordinnaire who creates these tasty masterpieces, came up with the flavor combinations based on events and feelings from her own life experience. Goody Two Shoes, Lucky In Love, The Apology, Bad Kisser, and The Rebel are just a few. If you are lucky enough to chat with your friendly and talented baker, maybe she'll share one of her stories with you. I picked up a half dozen of these sugary gems, and my very favorites were the Lucky In Love (white cake with lemon) and Charmed (the seasonal pumpkin). Really, though, all of them were incredible. Cream cheese icing so smooth and rich you thnk you can't possibly finish it, but it's just a simple little cupcake... I love the boutique-feel, love the owners and friendly clerks, and love that they are connected to Franklin Mercantile. Stop there for breakfast, grab cupcakes for lunch, your day is done. I surprised a scrapbooking group I went to in Springfield one time with a dozen of these for sharing.. and they were all claiming to sell their houses and move to Franklin. They're not all icing like some of their previous competitors but the actual cake is very moist and yummy - I feel like it's a very well balanced cupcake, icing to cake ratio. Haha seriously. Ivey Cake has some of the best cupcakes I've ever had. The place is kinda small on the inside but really nice. They have a plethora of cupcakes options, kind of makes it hard to choose what you want when they all look delicious. We tried the cookie dough cupcake which had cookie dough frosting with chocolate chip cake, hands down one of my favorite cupcakes ever. Also got the Almond Joy amazing also and the Reese's peanut butter cup one great too. The cake is moist and not dry and the frostings are very flavorful. As I continue my search for the perfect cupcake - until I can make it to Magnolia Bakery in NYC - I believe I have found one of the South's best offerings here in this Nashville suburb. If I had to guess Iveycake's secret, I would suggest that often falsely maligned cow product: butter. The cupcakes are moist without being sticky, and they seem to leave a thin film of butter on your fingers. I tried the Salted Caramel and thought it was a perfect example of understated decadence - without that sickly, sugary taste you find at some of the chain cupcake establishments. The bakery is small but seating is available at the adjacent deli which is charming in its own right. But who cares about ambiance when it comes to cupcakes! When I saw the photos and reviews online I was super excited. I knew I'd get my boyfriends 25th birthday cake from Iveycake and be floored, however this was not the case. I arrived and thought the shop was beautiful, Millie was polite but then she brought my cake to the front and the drop that was supposed to be GOLD was ORANGE! I was picking up the cake 30 minutes before getting him at the airport. They offered to repaint the cake but I'm sure most know on a time crunch you cannot wait for that. So their solution was to throw gold glitter on the cake, I felt forced to do so because it was recommended of me to choose that option more than once. I take the cake home and my boyfriend sees it and the drip looks like slime because it is orange and the font in black so HALLOWEEN in December are the vibes I got from it and he did as well. We taste the cake and the buttercream is not buttercream and very sweet, the vanilla batter is dry and does not taste very good. I ask for a refund and send a picture in of the cake because only two small slices were taken of the cake. I'm offered a 10% discount on the next cake?! There won't be one at all. I'm beyond livid with this companies customer service. This was a milestone birthday and they dropped the ball. Never going back. read more

I know that cupcakes are becoming trendy and somewhat overplayed, but I still love them. Iveycake has amongst the best I've tried so far. The storefront is adorable, with its rows of cheerful, brightly colored cupcakes which are a little girl's dream. The names of the different flavors are charming, personal, and often hilarious (e.g. "Crazy Ex" has bananas and nuts in it). I tried the strawberry cupcake, "Big Dreams," and it was fantastic. Moist, soft, and not too sweet. The size is also perfect (I find Gigi's to be too large and overwhelming with its mountain of icing). The only problem was that the cake crumbled a bit in my hand, so I had to be a bit creative about how to hold it so that I didn't end up with crumbs all over my lap. The rich, tasty strawberry goodness made up for all that, though. I can't wait to go back and try the other flavors! read more

I have to admit that I just found these cupcakes to be ok. I love cupcakes and I really wanted to love Iveycake cupcakes but I just don't get all of the rave reviews. I had a strawberry cupcake with strawberry icing and it was good but honestly I think the recipe I make at home is better. It was nice and moist but it didn't have as much of a strawberry flavor despite what appeared to be fresh strawberries in both the cake and frosting. My husband had a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting that he said was "alright". I'll definitely give it a try again; maybe next time I'll be more impressed. read more

Ditto to all of the previous rave reviews! I just went to Ivey Cake this morning and bought 15 cupcakes for an office party. They had 9 flavors in the case, so I got at least one of each and doubled up on some others. They were a huge hit with all of my co-workers! We cut them into quarters so each of us could sample a variety of flavors. My personal favorites were the Charmed (seasonal pumpkin) and Goody Two Shoes (vanilla w/ buttercream icing). So, after we ate lunch next door, at the Franklin Mecantile Deli, I decided to take the plunge and get dessert here. Even though I was the only one of us who did. I walked into this tiny little 'blink and you miss it, hole in the wall' shop and my eyes were in visual heaven with the vast array of beautiful cupcakes. The girl working was finishing taking a catering order and that gave me time to peruse the confections and make a decision. The girl wasn't really the friendliest, as I asked questions about which was which, since nothing was labeled. She answered my questions, but seemed irritated I was asking. I even felt I had to mention it was my first time in the shop, because I think she just thought I should know how things go there. Nonetheless, the cupcakes should have labels, so you can make a decision and not have to ask 'what is that one again?' all the time. So I made a decision when I found out there were mini replicas of all the cupcakes. Since I didn't know if they were good yet, I got a few to try. I got the BFF (for the littles to split)(Cookies and Cream), Gold Digger (for Moi) (Peanut Butter Chip), I Do (for hubs) (Vanilla on Vanilla), and a Troublemaker (again, for Moi, the cake lover extraordinaire) (Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough). When I returned to the family, and told them there were mini's everyone wanted one. So Mimi went and got herself a mini as well. The littles scarfed theirs down in record time, so I would suffice that to say that one was good, hahaha. I cut mine in half and tried both, wow! They were so good! Troublemaker was my favorite and I wished I would have bought a big version of that one. The cookie dough frosting was amazing! Hubs liked his little simple pleasure as well. I love these cupcakes. They are the perfect balanace between "sugar coma", and "I know I'm gonna have to run an extra mile tomorrow but they are so worth it." I love the little spot in Franklin, but like anything near the square parking is a pain. My favorite was the peanut butter and chocolate, but I pretty much like anything that is peanut butter and chocolate. There isn't anything greater than Southern Hospitality mixed with Southern Humor and the people who work there certainly do it up.
