First time returning since they changed ownership from Pho Tan to Ivy's. Food is still excellent. And I went with my go to pho...rare beef (#13). The pho was great. What I liked about Ivy's is that the flooring and tables have been replaced so it is much cleaner, and that one can now use credit or debit cards to pay. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Ivy's.

Looks like Pho Tan died and has reincarnated. Everything looks the same other than the lettering on the awning. Parking is available beside the building, as well as the side streets. The inside is a nice bright yellow and jungle green. Nice modern furniture. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pho is pretty run of the mill. Broth is dark but relatively thin. Decent meat slices and beef balls, and omasum too. Nothing crazy special, but it was filling. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point.

The list of Vietnamese spots to try never stops growing. We checked out Ivy's Kitchen on a packed Sunday night. We shared vegetarian spring rolls ($10.75), bun rieu ($16.75) and pho sate ($16.75). Bun rieu had good depth and the crab chunks were delicious. Pho sate was light; more coconut milk than peanut sauce. Good first visit. Need to to try their BBH and bun cha ca next time.

Having gone to Ivy's in person many times, as well as ordering from them on Uber Eats, I can safely vouch for them having a high standard for Vietnamese cuisine. I've tried a wide variety of their menu, including their rice cake omelet, bun bo hue, pho bo, spring rolls, bun rieu, and bun cha ca. Everything is executed with care and the broths are all light but flavourful. Portions are substantial, with a very good ratio of meat to noodles. I love that they'll make substitutions even when ordering delivery - I typically omit the pork hock in my bbh and add more blood cubes. If you're looking for something different from the norm, the rice cake omelet is a great option. The contrast of the crispy rice cake cubes with the cold pickled daikon makes for a great mix of textures. Give it a little dip in the accompanying nuoc mam and you've got a delicious appy. The service here is friendly and prompt, and the space is well maintained and clean. They also take card for your convenience. Ivy's Kitchen is definitely a welcome addition to the plethora of quality Vietnamese options in Vancouver, and I'll be back time and time again.

Ivy's Kitchen Vietnamese Restaurant took over from a previous Vietnamese joint (Pho Tan Restaurant). It's a family run spot, a few doors down from a Breka branch. The inside has a plethora of tables. Service is okay but it's painful flagging someone down for tea refills. Menu consists of appetizers, skewers, pho, house specials, vermicelli bowls, rice dishes and vegetarian. Their house specials are the way to go. Trip #1 We dropped in on a busy Sunday evening (6:30pm). - Vegetarian spring rolls (#39) ($10.75) - spring rolls were excellent and the filling tasty. - Herbs - basil, bean sprouts and lime wedges. Good heaping of bean sprouts. - Bun rieu (#25) ($16.75) - two chunks of crab (delicious, homemade), Vietnamese ham (great bite), pork blood, tofu, tomato and onion. Broth was clean with good depth. Perfect on a cold winter day. - 2x Pho sate (#23) ($16.75) - B went with beef, J opted for the chicken. Broth was light; more coconut milk than peanut sauce. The rare beef slices took awhile to cook in the broth. Okay sate but wanted more peanut flavour. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Friday evening (6:45pm) - Bun bo hue (#24) ($16.75) - broth was decent but light in depth. Good variety of meats, especially the two sliced chunks of homemade Vietnamese ham. Not my favourite BBH in town but above average. - Bun cha ca (#26) ($16.75) - broth was light and balanced. Dill note came through. Plenty of sliced homemade fish cakes. Above average bowls at Ivy's. 3.5 stars.

    Veggie pho (vegan)

One of the best spots in Vancouver for veggie pho, and that's saying something given the overabundance of great spots now. I stopped in for dinner on Saturday at 6pm and the place was about half full. Since they opened a few months ago, I noticed they had some vegetarian (indeed, vegan) options, so we decided to try them out. My wife got the veggie pho ($15.95; with veggie broth), and I got the satay veggie pho ($16.95; with veggie broth). The soups came out in about 5 minutes. You get a generous portion of noodle soup, with plenty of perfectly cooked thin rice noodles, perfectly cooked and still-crunchy vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, carrot), and deep fried tofu. My wife's regular pho broth was very flavourful and amped up even more nicely by their homemade chili paste. My satay pho was brilliant, coming with a full-flavoured broth that was nutty and only the slightest bit spicy, again complemented nicely by the chili paste. All in all, we were extremely happy with both our soups. I've been to over 70 pho places in Greater Van now to try their veggie phos, and this ranks up there as one of the best ones. Highly recommended.

    Bun Bo Hue

Been to this place a few times since it first opened and so far have not been disappointed. I would say this place has one of the better bun bo hue in regards of taste and the amount of ingredients they put into it. The place is clean, spacious, and pretty decent service. Here's what we ordered; 1. Deep fried spring roll, I like the light crisp skin because gives you that nice light crisp as you bite into it and the meat is moist not dry. 2. Deep fried chicken wings, they are fairly good size with a light crisp so not overly fried like most places do. And they are meaty and juicy. 3. bun bo hue, I would have to say this place has one of the better bun bo hue. Nice flavourful taste with a very generous amount of ingredients. If you like your bun bo hue then I do recommend you really give this place a try. 4. Special crab soup with vermicelli, pretty good but still like the bun bo hue more. Overall, this place is worth a try especially if you love your pho. It's fairly new but it seems like they are prepared to stay with their decent service and food. Their soups are tasty and it is safe to say they are quite generous on their ingredients especially if you love a lot of meat in your pho. I would give their Bun Bo Hue a solid 3.5 stars. Sorry ppl, no such thing as a 5/5 stars unless it is so amazing that I literally have dreams about it nightly with an orgasmic experience.

This was in my seafood soup. Along with one shrimp, two pieces of fake crab, one piece of squid and fishballs.

The pho is excellent. I have lunch there often. Service always with a warm smile. Ambiance is Vietnamese, not Canadian, which I like.

They also have a bar area. Kind of an Asian French fusion menu. Food dishes were good and creative, but it didn't really appeal to me. I appreciated the good service and chill atmosphere, but not sure if I would come back. I would say that their house made spicy was really good. A mix of sweet, sour, and spicy. Had a brightness to it yet also very, very spicy. Tastes great on many of the dishes, especially if you wanted a nice "kick" to the food. I believe you can order a jar to take home if you wish.

The space is much nicer, with high ceilings and lots of light - great looking bistro. I ended up trying the following: - Mussels: Very good. Classic dish, but I really like the use of cream in the broth. - Bánh Mì Cay Hải Phòng (Spicy Baguette Sticks): Good. A nice little snack, although it would be easy to recreate at home. - Lamb Chops: Very good. Cooked just right, and the pepper sauce added extra flavour. - Fried Frog Legs: Very good. This was probably the surprise dish for me. They weren't just the legs, but the entire bottom of the frog, so the pieces were huge. The garlic, butter and chili flakes gave it a extra punch. I really enjoyed this one. - Pho Bo: Good. Not the best pho I've had, but it's good enough to stand on it's own. Service was quite good. Very cheerful and quite attentive. Overall a nice meal. It's a great space, the food is solid, and service to match. What I really like is having the variety of both French and Vietnamese dishes, without either of them suffering in quality. Only downside is that is it expensive for what you get.

Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. We will return to Pho Goodness when the urge for Vietnamese food strikes again.

The Garden Rolls were absolutely the #1 worst ones we've ever eaten! We've had hundreds of fresh rolls at dozens of places and sadly, none were as tasteless as these. They consisted of noodles, a bit of flavorless tofu and cucumber. Fresh rolls MUST have at least one or more of the following: fresh mint, fresh cilantro or fresh Thai Basil. Hestia's had NONE!. To add insult to injury, the watery sauce also had NO flavor. To add more insult, they were baggy and poorly wrapped and the innards kept falling out. Not fun and definitely not good. The king oyster mushrooms were very good, but there was a ton of pink mayo dousing it. I would have preferred the sauce be in a separate bowl so we could choose how much dipping we'd like to do. The saffron tofu bowl was sensational! Perfectly spiced and full of a huge variety of well-cooked veggies plus the saffron rice was good too. No one came during our meal to ask if we needed anything or to ask how our meal was. The customer service is in need of some work.
