The reviews do not lie... That was quite possibly be the best burger I have had in quite some time! I got the Ivy Burger, which comes with lettuce & tomato and I added American cheese, mushrooms & onions. This burger was so damn juicy, so full of flavor and tasted so fresh! Perfectly seasoned and the American cheese just kind of brought it all together! I had my choice of a few sides but decided to upgrade to onion rings! They were hot, crispy as hell and quite good! I washed it all down with an IVY margarita and could have drank 10 of them, they just go down so quick... I blame it on the amount of ice! The place is small, like 12 stools around the bar and roughly 10 tables inside! They had one server who stayed quite busy, was very friendly and worked the floor with ease. There was so much on the menu that we wanted to try... the fish sandwich, the steak sandwich, I'm excited to go back. Don't wear anything you plan to wear out later. I can't believe I haven't yelped the Ivy Tavern, having consumed a baby cow's worth in weight in Ivy Burgers + french fries + beer in all my yelp years. Anyhoo, East Side denizens go on and on about how great the Ivy Burger is. Frankly, it's just OK. What's good about it is it's relatively inexpensive, is a hefty enough size to satisfy hangry feelings random late nights, comes with a lot of crispy French fries and the servers don't seem to judge you for eating like your gunning for dad bod pronto. My personal menu pick here is the bibimbop, excluding the kinda gross but fascinating enough to order more than once and yet finish eating even though they disturb me bibimbop tacos which seem like a good idea but just aren't and now I'm questioning my judgment for why I keep ordering them off and on despite knowing this. So if not the Ivy Burger, not the bibimbop, and definitely not the bibimbop tacos (do the tacos anyway, says subconscious), does the Ivy Tavern have the best of *anything* in town on their menu? Again, I'd say no. BUT the Ivy Tavern is the ONLY place in town that I know of where you can combine bibimbop + good French fries + Bell's Oberon beer which is the trifecta of heart clogging comfort when I'm feeling extra piggy for saturated fat, empty carbs, and a momentary detente with my trainer's absurd dietary recommendations. read more

An update. The fish is still haddock rather than cod and the prices are high, but the great Ivy Burger is back...good meat well prepared. The Spicy Pork sandwich is good and the fries are fine. The haddock version of the fish sandwich is not bad, but it is not really memorable either. read more

Ivy Tavern is a great place to get food and drinks at a reasonable price in Providence. The mussels here are delicious and you get a lot for what you pay for! We stopped in today and my husband had the bulgogi tacos and I got the garlic fries. The portion size for these were decent too. My husband said his tacos were really good! The garlic fries, in my opinion, weren't worth the hype. I didn't care for them but my husband loved them. Narragansett on draft was $3 and my Revival night swimmer was $6. Wish they had a larger cocktails menu. I would go again, definitely worth trying out. read more

I was a little reluctant to venture in this place because from the outside it looks kind of dive-y, sports bar like and crowded, but the noise well was totally fine once we got inside. Although there were two TVs on showing football, they were muted and no one was cheering loudly. They had a great selection of beers on tap and our waitress was super friendly and efficient. The absolute standout of our meal was the bibimbap! So intensely delicious, especially with their spicy sauce and just the most perfect meal on a cold winter night! Will definitely be back for this! A nice neighborhood place, as others have commented. It's generally busy, especially on the weekends, but the wait isn't overly long for such a small place. A decent beer selection (Guinness on tap!) and full bar, with a less typical menu for an English-style pub. I had the bibimbap tonight, with tofu as the protein. The tofu was firm outside, beautifully grilled, and plentiful. The entire dish was quite good - lovely vegetables and perfect rice, just the right crunch at the bottom. Our true star was the fish and chips. It's a giant piece of fish and enough French fries for two people. Hard outside, soft inside so yummy! Decent cole slaw too. Whoo boy! Hope Village is a gem on the East Side and this little pub is no different. Went on a bustling Friday evening to have dinner with a friend. I had the boneless wings, which were good, pretty standard. I also had the ivy burger and fries, which were also very good. You never know with burgers, but this one was tasty. Fries were run of the mill pub fries but were good. The inside is tiny, a little claustrophobic, but those are good qualities in a neighborhood pub I suppose. A little too small for me...the bar only has maybe 10 seats. Bartender was very nice and service was prompt. So, I am a new resident of Providence, and was looking for a burger joint to bring my brother and his girlfriend to while they were here on vacation from Florida. The Ivy Tavern came recommended on Yelp, so since it was in walking distance from my apartment we thought we would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised at what a cute place it was. The waitress (who may have been one of the owners, but I'm not sure) greeted us with a friendly hello and thanked us for coming in (as she had seen us checking out the menu). The beers were a little pricey for a gal who is still unemployed, so I ordered the cheapest beer (PBR). They did have a decent amount of beers on draft (if I had more money I would have gotten a dogfish head 60 minute). I perused the menu (which was also a little pricey, but hey everything sounds pricey when you are on a budget). The cheapest items were the Ivy burger and the garden burger which were around 9$. I wasn't in the mood for a traditional burger, and the toppings on the garden burger (aka the accidental purist) sounded phenomenal, so that is what I ordered. I ordered it with a side of their house made pasta salad. Everyone else in my party ordered burgers and fries. When our food came I took one bite out of my "burger" and I was in heaven. The brie, tomato marmalade, and grilled apples were a scrumptious mix of flavors that could please even the most enthusiastic of carnivores (which I usually am). I'm sure if you put the same topping on to beef it would be amazing. The pasta salad was good too, although I added a little bit of vinegar to it because I prefer my pasta salad a bit tangier. I'm really digging the Ivy. It isn't so much the food. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his burger, and barely finished it. I had a couple bites, and it was tasty. My calamari, however (I know, I know, don't get calamari at a bar), was not so great. It sounds fancy on the menu, with the cucumber slaw, and hot cherry pepper sauce, and the remoulade, but it was rather lackluster. The squid was not fried enough. The slaw was the best part about the dish. It was so unremarkable that I actually left my takeout box at the bar. It isn't so much the variety. There are a couple quality brews on tap, like Warsteiner, Lagunitas, and Allagash. The Ivy has relabeled Newport Storm's IPA as their "Ivy IPA." I overheard another patron ask the bartender, "So Newport let you call it Ivy IPA?" and the bartender unconvincingly replied, "Uh... yeah..." It's the atmosphere. The decor in here is an odd mix of cheesy Tuscan and sports. This little walk-in closet of a tavern has three televisions. The posters and photos are not so Red Sox-centric, which is refreshing. Football, baseball, wrestling, and it's all pretty interesting. Couples to the left and right of us were cool, and our conversations overlapped in a genial manner. The bartender was immediately accommodating, friendly, and attentive. My water glass literally never stayed empty for more than a minute. He had empty glass radar. It was so easy to sit back and drink and watch the Red Sox game. There is just a great vibe in here. I really like that at my corner of the bar, near the door, I could see right into their kitchen. I can't wait to be a regular here. We started with the Chicken Tazers. Despite the description, these are not similar to buffalo wings, but they are pretty amazing chicken wings. And the cilantro pesto that comes on top of them is AMAZING. Throw that pesto all over your wings and it'll be like an out of body experience. As for the burger... holy sh*t. I took one bite of my Ivy Burger with American cheese, grilled onions and lettuce and gasped. I quickly shoved the burger onto my boyfriends plate and told him to take a bite. He took one bite and said, "DAMN that's a good burger." We took more bites and reconvened. It's official. Despite my previous love for a certain salty burger in Wayland Square, the Ivy burger is now #1 in our book. Juicy, flavorful, awesome. To top it off, the garlic fries are as good as everyone says. They're not over-saturated in garlic like your usual garlic fries. They're crispy, delicious, and lightly covered in grilled garlic and herbs. Definitely plan on becoming a regular here. If there was ever a perfect example of a gastropub, this is it. If you want to eat without a crowd, I'd recommend getting in early because after 7 the place gets a little saturated. I still love the Ivy. I still love their burger. It's just... different now. The owner changed and with it, the staff. I really miss the old crew -- they were part of the charm of this place and I sincerely miss those Manhattans. There's nothing wrong with the new guys, as they're perfectly nice. It's just missing the warmth and charm of a familiar crew who knew the menu and your order inside and out. The burgers are good, but I have found myself venturing off that side of the menu and trying some of their new offerings. There's a Korean influence at play here among the standards, and their hot pot? Pretty good. I wasn't crazy about the beef on it, but it was hot, the rice was crisp and the veggies fresh. On a less-healthy day, I went for the Polka Dog which was awesomely outrageous and delicious. Smokey kielbasa, gooey provolone and tart sauerkraut on a very buttery and good roll. It's scrumptious. So yeah, they Ivy is good. Is it my first choice when dining out? No, but it's a fine place with good food. If that isn't A-OK, then I don't know what it. read more

Very limited seating so there was a bit of a wait when we got here-- but the wait was well worth it. Our burgers were done well--- and by that I mean cooked perfectly to order. They nailed our medium rares. The bigger star though, might have been the garlic fries. I was recovering from a cold when I tried them so was still dealing with some congestion. But even with my dulled taste buds I could taste that they were killer. Perfectly crisp-- and fried with minced garlic packing some great flavor. One of my friends declared them some of the best fries he'd ever had. The service was speedy and attentive. The two waiters worked in tandem checking on tables every few minutes so we never find ourselves needing to flag someone down to order more drinks or food. I'm a regular customer here and I'm pretty much recognized by most of the staff, so I like to stop by for a good burger and a drink from time to time. However, when I visited last time with my mom, the service was kinda pathetic. My mom and I ordered a fried fish sandwich and a basic burger medium rare, and it came out after about an hour. Most of the customers who came in before and after got their drinks and food so we were slightly confused. None of the servers came over to let us know if there was a mishap or that they were sorry that it was taking a while. And alas the food came out. I'm not trying to brag here but I've worked in multiple kitchens my entire life. There are small mistakes sometimes made in an order that can be ignored, but there are some that are not acceptable. My burger was cooked so well it was crumbling from the lack of moisture LOL. My mom's fish sandwich was soggy and cold. I'm guessing that they forgot our food was made and set it aside for an hour(?) Then, they had the audacity to charge us for a sliver of raw onion that I ordered with the burger ($1.75....). I dunno about you but... that was kinda sad and pathetic. This is a small, cozy space that's a great spot to grab a drink/dinner with a friend or two. The staff is very nice and the food comes out pretty quickly. The food here is amazing-specifically, the wings and garlic fries. You really can't go wrong with any of the wing flavors. They're all DELICIOUS. The garlic fries taste like heaven. I went to Ivy Tavern for the first time this past weekend after eyeing it for a while! It's right around the corner and an easy walk from my apartment. The outdoor seating was completely packed so my boyfriend and I had to nab an indoor table. It took about 5 minutes until we got approached by a waitress. The place is very no frills, as to be expected by a bar but the waitress was extremely nice and polite throughout the entire visit. I started with the New England Clam Chowder. The chowder was a red colored base, it wasn't as creamy as expected but it was pretty delicious. I got the golden burger as my main meal. The medium was a bit overcooked but overall the burger was super filling! Tons of toppings on it. The sweet potato fries were to die for! Went for first time last night after hearing through the grapevine how good this place was. Definitely not disappointed. Service and food were both amazing. As soon as we sat down we were asked about drinks with the bartender offering to make anything we liked (there's no drink menu). I had two perfect manhattans while my wife and her sister both had vodka drinks. All were excellent. Our waiter was great - making recommendations and just with overall service. The food was so good. I had the bibimbap which is a Korean dish. I wish maybe it had a little more spice but it was still fantastic. My wife had chicken tacos and sister-in-law a hamburger. I went into this cute little local bar on a Tuesday night and it was a lot busier than I expected. We got a seat no problem and we had really great service. There's somewhere around 10 or 15 tables inside and a bar. The bar area is cute and is lit up with lights at night. I ordered the fish tacos which were spicy but super good! I hear their garlic fries are amazing so I'd like to try them next time. They have a long list of beers to choose from, a lot of them local. The salads have always been large and have more in them than u would expect. The burgers are borderline legendary. I had Duck Tenders there once. Amazing. St. Pattys? Outstanding CB&C. A bit juicy and messy, but is that ever a problem with a good burger? Throw in some EXCELLENT sweet potato fries, and I was a happy camper. My wife meanwhile had the fish sandwich and their garlic fries...dear GODS, after trying both, I almost wish I'd gotten both of those instead.
