I'm surprised this restaurant received low ratings. My fiance and I ate here today and it was fantastic! Seriously one of the best Mexican meals we've ever had and that's saying something considering we're both visiting from southern California where there's typically Mexican food on every corner. The chips and salsa was so good - you can tell the salsa is made in-house and the "heat" is perfect in my opinion, our meals were piping hot (which is a good thing) and flavorful , and our black margaritas were absolutely delicious; they didn't taste super syrupy or overly sweet like some places. Bad all around. Waitress had some weird attitude that came out as under handed complaints masking as "jokes." There was a horrific dead mouse smell near the back hallway, unrelated to the women's bathroom (it did NOT smell in the women's bathroom). I kept catching whiff of it whenever a door would open and draw the air towards the dining room. The salsa was spicier than I imagine many ppl can handle, but they do have mild....upon request. The shredded beef has a weird imitation / fake flavoring taste to it...like they used some sort of cheap spice packet in the seasoning of it. I come here sometimes because it's a couple blocks from my house. Very hit and miss with food quality - especially for the price of most of everything. The Monroe location seems to care more about quality and customer service. Pro tip: - Don't take their drink refill offer, it's not free. - they don't even know some of the items on their menu - write down or take a picture of the price on the menu so you don't get overcharged for something 3 stars is purely for locational convenience. read more

it would've been better to just stay hungry. The salsa was even bad....like weird seeds in it....and almost a spinach like strandy spinach in there...yuck. service was lifeless. Grandma the server was more interested in watching the television l than the patrons. And the main employee who sat us? He had his kid in the restaurant....like a four year old. Overall: Okay The food was decent. Kind of bland but edible for sure. The waitress was nice and the food came out quickly. Complaints: The margaritas didn't taste like they had any tequila in them and they were the smallest I've ever received at a Mexican place. For 3 meals and 3 margaritas, the bill was $80. My wife and I met a couple friends here for a drink before heading to another engagement. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. No cantina. No draft beer. No patrons aside from us seated. The chips were stale with a lingering burnt flavor. The salsa was bland. Bottles of Dos Equis were $4.25. Our server was rude and scarce. Tabs are split and paid at the front counter. We learned this after waiting 15 minutes for our tabs to be picked up from our table. The environment reminds you to being at grandmas house with such quietness and really old Mexican movies played in the TV, but the food was okay, maybe too much cheese over the enchiladas. Also I was expecting a Mexican taco? But got a American attempt of Mexican taco. And the old lady who served me was very rude by asking me in a aggressive and cold tone "Tell me whats what you want" when I was about to say my dish choice and pointed at the menu. Sorry but the owner, an older lady who served us, is just plain worn out--pretty much poor people skills. I had a chili releno that had almost no chili and swamped with too-too much goey cheese. Gag level. Likely the worst one I've ever had. 200((seriously)) menu items which is the sure sign of mediocre quality. All this kind of sad as the hand painted decor is quite beautiful. read more

My sister and I went her for dinner. It's pretty difficult to find truly bad Mexican food, this place seems to specialize in it. The refried beans were...gray/purple, the meat was chewy an has some weird sweet flavor, the rice had lots of undercooked bits in it. The one mainstay staple of Mexican places is the salsa. This place had the most disappointing salsa I've tasted ever. It was bland and on top of that it was obviously mixed with extra water which made the texture very unpleasant. We ordered the hot salsa first and finding it inedible we ordered the mild...same problem, so we ordered pico de Gallo which had few tomatoes and 70% the less expensive chopped jalapeños, and also tasted like...steak? Why would fresh raw salsa taste like steak? Seems like potential cross contamination there. So we ordered the bean dip which ended up being a bowl filled with grey purple bean goop with a sprinkling of cheese and a pool of green sauce on top. It was also incredibly bland, but in addition I found a stray piece of cooked chicken in it. Pretty disgusted by this point. Then we got our main dishes...my sister got a quesadilla which showed up. Pretty undercooked without even browned tortillas (picture). I ordered fajitas which has very few (currently expensive) bell peppers and traded them out for mushy strips of tomato (picture). The beef in my fajitas looked like mixed cut scrap leftovers and the chicken felt rubbery, both were considerably bland. The tortillas were served in a cloth pouch that was spiked inside and out. When asked if it got cleaned the annoyed waitress said they were cleaned "a lot" but not every time. This means some gross a-hole with COVID-19 or a booger on his finger is touching the inside of this cloth pouch that is touching my tortillas (picture). There were crispy bits of other people's food on it (picture). Overall, I'd recommend eating at this place if you like spoiled bland food, food poisoning, rude waitstaff, or direct exposure to other customer's saliva. read more

Went to dinner tonight with my boyfriend we ordered a cheese crispy and no name, we get maybe 6 bites it. I bite into a shared of metal in the cheese crispy it cuts into my gum I spit it out. Then looked at the cheese crispy metal is cooked into it all over.found at least four other shards. The server let me know she had no idea what it was. She went to the kitchen with the food and came back and let me know they were cleaning the fryer. Super bummed I was super hungry but obviously didn't eat and more of my food. Could cause serious medical problems if ingested. I let the server know I would may for both our drinks but not the food and we left. When I got home I looked at the Google reviews looked like someone complained a month ago about finding metal in their food as well. My wife an I were traveling back from eastern WA, and saw they were, "Safely Serving," take out. We placed the order via phone, from the parking lot and they said to come in about 10 minutes later to get the food order. No masks, people waiting inside, and I even saw them serving drinks and making a joke out of the quarantine with what appeared to be some locals, who were also taking their drinks back to their car and sitting in the parking lot drinking them. I was unaware Snohomish County had an open container in your vehicle policy. Food was dismal and the lady at the counter (who may own the place, not sure, about middle aged) was rude to us as well. My friend and I went to Ixtapa today (we love it we go all the time) but we had such good service today. I was ordering food for my boyfriend and I to-go, and after I ordered my Dad and brother in law messaged me asking if we were still there because they wanted food too, lol. Well I didn't want to try and interrupt Gabi as she was busy helping a few tables. So I waited to let her know til after she brought out our original to-go order. She took it upon herself to go into the kitchen and make the second order so that all of the food would be hot together and we wouldn't have to wait for the 6 or so peoples tickets ahead of us to come out first. We always have good service when we come here but this was nicest of all. She even gave me an empty box to carry all that food in! Terrible food! Called and wanted fish tacos for me and a burrito with only beef, cheese, and a side of sour cream for my child. This woman obviously couldn't comprehend. I told her my daughter is picky and only 7 and so take any beef burrito order and take out anything besides what I asked for on it. Took about 5 minutes. I get my food and it's disgusting. Mind you, it was to go but, the fish tacos were a breaded piece of frozen fish in a tortilla...no tomatoes or any toppings. Everything looked bad. Poor customer services. What happened to this place? It used to be amazing until my fiance and I went in the other day. It was about 5'oclock on a Friday and it was absolutely EMPTY. All the staff were hanging out at one of the tables up front just laughing and not caring that two customers just walked in. I asked if we could get a table and a lady sat us down without saying three words. The service sucked. The food took forever and it was TERRIBLE. My beans tasted funny and my rice was all mushy. The waiter was rude (guy in his 30's) walked out without finishing up with us. Basically made us feel like we were bothering him being there. The first item I asked for they did not have so I just got a beer. The beer was ok. That's it. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like it was in the fridge for about 3 weeks. There was a hair in my food and the rice tasted horrible. The beans were ok but the steak (was a weird glistening color) it tasted way over cooked and old. The tortillas come in some dirty old warmer that is like a pot holder. For two beers and carne asada my bill was 40 bucks. This is the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I'm not sure why the other reviews at this point are so low (a 2-star and 3-star.) I've come here off and on - at least a few times a year - for years. The service is always warm, the place is always clean. The food is typical of Ixtapa - which is to say it's Freakin' Awesome! You must try their Chile Colorado (with extra lime and onion on the side!) Cheap too - you can split most plates. I've never ordered a drink at this one, so I can't vouch for their bar tending abilities. Beer is a reasonable price though. Yum! -- My standard rating disclaimer: I rate places as compared to other similar places. In other words a hot dog cart or taco stand can easily be five-stars when compared to other carts and stands. read more
