Had a chance to check out Yiko Yiko after hearing lots about it and honestly, I had a feeling that their products would be a on the pricier side. Many reviews have noted this, and I would have to agree, especially for the size (crepe cake slices) and/or simple design (two layer naked cakes). We ended up trying a slice of their taro crepe cake. It was tasty - light, smooth, and included real taro - and had alternating layers of cream and taro; however, we were surprised with how small it was in person (vs photos) for $12.50 before tax. This is just below the price for an Extraordinary Desserts cake slice, which is not only bigger and more complex, but also made fresh. We noticed the crepe cake slice we got had that dusting of ice sparkles, indicating it was frozen and defrosting, and additionally, as it defrosted, the more it started leaning. If you haven't tried Yiko Yiko, it's worth still checking out. That said, I think you'll be satisifed after one or two visits. read more

The mochi consists of cream and mango filling inside. Upon a bite full of just cream, there only seemed to be little pieces of mango inside. The cream also did not have any sweetness to it, but was a great texture. Overall the mochi needs more mango! Matcha Crepe Cake (3/5): It tasted like it sat out all day so it was dry. I've been going to Yiko Yiko since they opened in SD! Every time I'm in the area I HAVE to go and get the durian snowball mochi!! The store is nicely decorated with comfortable seats, and the tables are big enough if you want to hang out with your friends and share dessert. They only have one restroom, but I never see it get crowded to the point where that's a big issue. Service is okay, some things do take a while and there tends to be a wait on weekends. They have a blind bag deal where you get different items that are listed more than the cost of the bag, but it's just the fact that you can't choose so it's a surprise. I like the idea and I think it's a nice option if you want to try different things. The main cons are: price, cleanliness, and the cake croutons! Prices - the items are definitely on the pricier side. Cleanliness - the trash can was overflowing on several different occasions I've been here, and one time my friends and I put a straw up the water dispenser and saw there was mold in spout.
