I've been here several times over the past few years and have even brought family members along. I've had okay massages before, but most of them have been great, which is why I've been returning. However, this evening, I had the worst experience here. First, they offer a stamp card where you get a free massage after 10 stamps or so. I left my stamp card at home tonight, so I asked if I could just get a new one. The manager said they don't give out stamp cards to returning customers, but only new customers. This didn't make sense because stamping an existing card would've been the same as stamping a new one, but oh well. That's fine. Then, when it comes to payment, their advertised price for a 60 minute massage is $75. I paid cash this evening, so no issues there, but my sister who came with me paid by card. She was charged $79 for using a credit card. We questioned them because my sister has always paid $78, including her last visit which was just a week ago. We were then told that they charge $4 extra for credit card, but only $3 if using a debit card. It's a $1 difference, but this practice is very shady. I am not even sure they are allowed to pass on credit card fees to customers. When it was time for the massage, the lights weren't dimmed and it was cold. My sister's massage table apparently had a heated blanket, but mine didn't. My masseuse didn't bother fixing the blanket over me and she also left in the middle of the massage for about 4 minutes. Also, the towel that was over my head while facing down fell off my hair at some point, but the masseuse eventually picked it up off the carpeted floor and used it to cover my eyes when I turned over and was facing up (just so gross). Upon checking-in, they also ask you to fill out a sheet where you can indicate what body parts you want them to focus on and/or avoid. I indicated not to touch my glutes and arms, but the masseuse did anyway. This isn't such a big deal, but why have your customers take the time to fill out this sheet every single time if the masseuse isn't going to accommodate the request anyway. After the massage, they have you rate their service on the same sheet you filled out upon checking-in. They also have your masseuse standing there by the door waiting for their tip. So awkward. Needless to say, they lost a returning customer this evening. read more

The massage was very good. However for 90min (body and foot) massage i was given only 75 minutes of massage. When i questioned their timing , the owner (who was on phone) argued with me saying we calculate changing of clothes , transition from chair to bed and dressing back up, in those 90minutes . I have taken massage in several places but never heard this rationale. Every place I have been, the massage time starts when masseuse starts giving massage and it runs till the time you have requested the massage for. The owner even advised me not to take combo massage going forward to avoid such confusion, since combo massage is cheap. This shows their lack of transparency. As per owner"s calculation the massage was still 10 minutes short of 90min( even though it was 15min short) yet she had the audacity to argue with me for full 15 min blaming me for over expectation. I would have given this place 4 star but poor customer service makes me wanna give 0 star. For $120 i expect full 90 minutes of massage and not 75min. The massage given in those 75 min was no doubt very good( 1 star fr that) but not being transparent in tracking time/ services and gaslighting the customer instead is not professional. At any other massage place we've been to, it has never been an issue to arrive early and use the restroom, but apparently it is at Izumi. I asked and was blatantly told no, followed up by a "it was only for customers". I explained that we were early for our appointment and the answer was still no. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the quality of the massage was exceptional, even compared to more expensive places we've been to. We chose the 60-minute Swedish massage and were given a room right across from the front desk. While the room doesn't insulate sound as well as those behind their main doors, it has drapes covering the entire area to ensure privacy. There was a new masseuse training and was very polite, attentive, and checked in on the pressure throughout the session. They also offered us a stamp card to accumulate a free massage at check out. I love coming to Izumi spa when I'm feeling tense or sore. The masseuses here, especially my favorites Candy and Lucy, are so great at finding my sore spots and really working to get out my knots or stretch/massage out any stiffness. Honestly, their massages are so great I often end up just booking a two hour massage cause they so helpful for my body, and it gives them really enough time to focus on my whole body. Just note that the rooms are not any sort of luxurious room. Izumi spa is clearly a place for a good massage, not any sort of fancy ambience. Additionally, it's important to note that paying cash helps decrease costs, and there are additional surcharges for deep tissue massages, which makes sense since they really get deep and work out the kinks. I had been a VIP member for over a year and had generally been satisfied, until I noticed my massages were consistently running short. After a while, I decided to time one of my massages. I confirmed it was again shorter than the full hour I had paid for, despite arriving early for my appointment (which I always had). I brought this to the attention of the front desk. At first, they denied anything was wrong, gaslighting me and referencing the security footage. When I asked to actually see the footage they were referencing, it became clear I was right: there was a 10-minute discrepancy. And they still tried to convince me I was wrong. Eventually, they only offered me 5 extra minutes on my next session. I explained this wasn't a fair resolution, especially as a loyal customer, but they refused to honor the full time I had lost. Still, I gave them one more chance. Unfortunately, the next massage I got was again under 60 minutes and they didn't give me the 5 extra minutes they'd promised. This massage was 15 minutes less than promised because it was 50 minutes when I should have got 65. When I brought this up, the manager told me this was "standard," citing setup time as a justification. I found that unacceptable. Every other massage place I have ever been to will massage for 60 minutes if you pay for 60 minutes. They refused to offer any partial refund and even asked me to leave a tip. I declined because tipping for incomplete service didn't feel right. As I left, the situation escalated. The manager chased me out the door into the parking lot yelling that I was no longer welcome because I didn't tip. I asked for a refund for my remaining VIP membership then (which still had 5 months left on it) and she told me to "go to hell." I've never been treated so horribly by a business. I got a massage once a week from this place for a year and a half. I always tipped well. I just didn't want to tip this time because they didn't give me the service I paid for. This experience was deeply disappointing, both in terms of customer service and professionalism. I won't be returning, and I hope that others read my review and choose to go somewhere else where they will not be treated so badly. Updated after the business's response: If you're thinking about going here after reading the owner's response to my review, I strongly recommend reading their other 1-star reviews, or even the slightly negative ones, and seeing how this business responds. The way they speak to people is alarming: dismissive, aggressive, and often threatening. In my case, they actually followed me to my car. I felt genuinely unsafe. That's not something I say lightly. I don't usually write reviews, but I've worked in customer service my entire career, and this situation was beyond outrageous as the owner just pointed out. I knew they would either twist the truth or pretend the incident never happened, because that's exactly what they've done to me before and in response to others. And in this case, when they couldn't spin it, they simply acted like it didn't exist...like I don't exist. I was a VIP member. Please be aware that this owner would NEVER give me the refund they are pretending to offer on this review. They would lie, gaslight, and threaten me to take the negative review down if I called them. There was no misunderstanding. It happened exactly like I said with no exaggeration. The customer service was never good here. I kept coming because the prices were good and I get regular massages. But the entire point of a massage place is to relax you. That's the bare minimum. I've been coming here every few weeks for a little over a year now. I've tried at least 10 different masseuses, almost all have been amazing, just a couple simply not my style. I was requesting Yumi for awhile and she was great overall. Then the owner referred me to Rola. I have horrible neck and shoulder pain, always tense, my body can feel when it's been longer than two weeks without a massage. Rola is my favorite now primarily because she can go really hard, knows exactly where and how to get my knots, I can feel her get to the root of it with deep pressure. I had to always get deep tissue with other masseuses, but Rola can go so firm that I bumped it down to medium pressure. Stretches are great and sometimes gets some good neck and back cracks in. One time I forgot to mark to spend the most time on my neck/ shoulders/ upper back but Rola remembered to pay special attention to those areas. Prices are amazing too, I've been to "nicer" more expensive places before, but nowhere gets my knots like this place. Thank you Izumi! read more

Swung in for my first massage post pregnancy and it was lovely. The masseuse was very professional, great pressure and communicative. Took a star off because their credit card tip situation isn't great. I understand if you need to charge a fee for running a card, my issue is that if you want to leave a tip on your card cuz I didn't remember to bring cash, they have to charge you another fee to run your card again and add a separate tip. Like, the first charge has a line item for adding a tip. Not sure why that can't be combined, but it could be better explained. The atmosphere inside the spa is very pleasant. Overall ambient is perfect for relaxation. The room is clean, massage bed is not too hard, towels are sanitized and clean with natural fragrance. You hardly hear any loud conversation among fellow therapists that are on break. My therapist would ask about the condition of my upper arm and the sore neck before she started the session. I could tell she is experienced and professional from the pressure she applied to the sore area. Literally she untied all the knots that have been bothering me for some days. I felt stress-free on my arm and relaxed neck after the session. My overall experience with Izumi Spa is excellent. I do wish she had allocated a bit more time to my legs, where I had asked for extra attention. The interior is okay - basic and serviceable. Our massage space wasn't a room, but instead an open space walled off with some curtains. We could hear conversations and hallway whispers throughout the session. Came here on a whim. I wanted a foot massage on y day off. I was planning on going to another place down the street that I'd visited a month ago. However, Izumi was in the same parking lot as the Walgreen's where I had just picked up some photos for my son's Valentine's Day cards, so I figured I'd stop in. They had availability for a walk in. The price for a one hour foot massage was a little steep; they added a $10 surcharge because I requested deep tissue. Then, they charged me an additional fee for using a card instead of cash. In the end, I paid $80 for a 60 minute massage. I got Tina. She told me her name at the end, but they wrote an American name on the business card when I requested. Tina had firm hands and worked on my very tense neck as my feet soaked. She did a great job! I also liked how she massaged my hands.
