Erica M exhibited patience as well as kindness. I expressed how hungry I was and asked her about the Roasted Chicken. She assured me that Roasted Chicken is an excellent choice for my appetite. I ordered that with a Caesar side salad. The Roasted Chicken was excellent and exceeded my expectations. Erica was right, it was perfect. The Roasted Chicken was made perfectly. It was unanimous that we received excellent food and service while at J Alexanders in Cobb County. We look forward to returning. read more

J. Alexander you have been missed. I loved going to the location off 285 near John's Creek. I was happy to learn one opened at The Battery. The Battery means strategy for free parking We saw a movie and went here after to grab a bite. We parked for free timing our outing perfectly. We entered and 3 young ladies at the hostess stand. I asked for table for 2. They looked at us. I looked around because we were dressed casual as in jeans and tops with sandals. We were seated but that was a awkward moment. Our server was great. She reviewed the menu with us. She made her suggestions. My fried said the Midnight Margarita was okay She asked for agave to sweeten it. It was more on the sour side. I expected it to be sweet. My Doppelganger drink was on point 10/10 definitely order again. Warning it is a little sweet. We both got the Steak n Fries. I should have got something else. We both agreed the steak were cooked to our request. We asked for medium and medium well. They had no flavor. There was no seasoning. I had to ask for A1 sauce. I normally dont do this. The fries were good. Side note, I got the SteaK Maui to go for my son. He said it was delicious. I told him.about mine. He said his was well seasoned with great flavor. He saved half for next day. J. Alexander's has a couple of locations, including The Battery and The Forum, and I've been to both. This location definitely has a younger, more energetic vibe, especially on game days. We came for a birthday dinner and made reservations because there was a Braves game that evening. Surprisingly, when we arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty, so I wasn't sure why they couldn't accommodate us earlier. The service was good with no real complaints. The food was solid but nothing particularly memorable. The Poké ball wasn't as good this time because they were out of avocado, and unfortunately, there was no other sub substitute. My steak was a little chewy, but everything else was fine. Overall, it's your typical American restaurant with a reliable menu. Nothing really stood out, but nothing disappointed either. We chose to sit on the patio, which was a bit hot and humid, but it was nice being able to people-watch and enjoy the atmosphere around The Battery. Overall, it's a decent place if you're already in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here. read more

Cool place to stop and eat and drink especially after a Braves game. People were cool, bartenders nice, lively atmosphere. Drinks were good. Peach Lemon Drop ($17) Vodka and soda ($11) had me lit! I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich which was very good. It had Cole slaw on it. A+ $19.00 comes with fries. I had a good time. As someone who frequently visits the J. Alexander's location in Dunwoody, I was very disappointed by my experience at the Battery location. First, three of the six people in our party ordered mocktails, and somehow all three orders came out incorrectly. One person ordered steak and fries and specifically requested the steak medium, but it was served medium-well. I also frequently order the Cypress Salad and one of my favorite parts is the house made croutons, which are typically warm and soft. Unfortunately, the croutons at this location were the complete opposite, cold and hard. The restroom was also disappointing. Two of the three stalls were missing toilet paper and seat covers. Additionally, the floors throughout the restaurant were extremely slippery, to the point that we had to be careful walking. Lastly, the service was very slow. One of the reasons I love the Dunwoody location is because the service is consistently impeccable, so the difference here was especially noticeable. Overall, the entire experience fell short of what I've come to expect from J. Alexander's, particularly for a location that has been open for less than a year. Unfortunately, I'll be sticking with the Dunwoody location going forward. read more

I absolutely loved my first experience at J. Alexander's. I'd never even heard of this restaurant before, but holy bag of mojo balls... this place was the shiznit. After four straight days of striking out on food during my first trip to Atlanta, I had pretty much lost hope. Every recommendation from friends and the hotel had been a complete miss. I was officially 0-for-4. Then I stumbled into this place. Now, full disclosure: my bestie brought her absurdly cute puppy with us, which may have positively influenced the staff's mood and perception of humanity, but whatever. I'll take it. From the hostess, to my waitress Bridget, to Elle bringing out the food, to the manager from Tampa who stopped by to check on us, everyone was warm, attentive, and effortlessly hospitable. Honestly, if there hadn't been torrential rain outside, I probably would've stayed long past closing just enjoying the atmosphere. Fantastic service. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEM! As for the food: The Avocado Bomb was outstanding. I live in Los Angeles, where avocado is practically a religion, and whoever created this dish deserves a handshake, a celebratory booty slap, and maybe even one of those weird feather tickles on the bottom of the feet. It's a pretty simple dish, but absolutely delicious and the perfect palate teaser. The Thai Kai Chicken Salad felt like the luxury, "wagyu" version of the old Asian Chicken Salad from California Pizza Kitchen. Refreshing, savory, balanced, and not overwhelming at all. If I'm being ultra-critical, the dishes themselves land around a solid 4 out of 5. Also, I didn't love the fries that came with my friend's veggie burger, slightly un-crispy, but a small miss is ok. But because the service and atmosphere elevated the entire experience, the dishes felt like 4.5 stars. The overall visit is 5 stars with fireworks! I'll absolutely be back. read more

Everything went well from the minute we hit the front door! The greeting, the seating, the Service, the cocktails were perfect and spot on. We always order the grilled artichoke for appetizer and it was cooked to perfection and their remaloude sauce is the best! We ordered the sushi and the Blondie dessert. We just kept eating and we just kept enjoying. It was absolutely fabulous! Their old-fashioned cocktail is the best anywhere! It feels like coming home! It's Grand Opening night! This place will be a hit and it's the perfect time of year to open at The Battery Atlanta. About J. Alexander's...the website says: "Where contemporary American cuisine meets Southern hospitality. Conveniently located at The Battery Atlanta, it's perfect for business lunches, romantic dinners, or upscale gatherings. We serve wood-fired steaks, fresh seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and made-from-scratch desserts made with premium ingredients." The managers and the team were on site to serve and make a good first impression. The ambiance was relaxed, the bar is indoor/outdoor and smooth jazz music playing in the background. Did I mention the space is huge? Food: We ordered the dip duo featuring guacamole and pimento cheese served with warm chips. Interesting pairing but it works. For dinner - the Cypress Salad and Chicken Piccata. Then finished with the Key Lime pie. Drinks: Lemon Drop and Fleur De Li martinis. Everything was served fast and had a great presentation. Random: Parking isn't validated here. They're working to add that so maybe it's coming. It's busy and reservations are recommended. There's plenty of bar seating available. The brand says upscale but patrons had on t-shirts, jeans and athletic apparel. Don't overdress. I'm looking forward to trying more menu items. I know J. Alexander's can do much better than what we experienced last Saturday, which is why I'm still giving three stars. We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday before heading to the Braves game. Our order was about as simple as it gets -- a filet and an order of fries. Unfortunately, it took over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. When it finally came, the fries were completely cold -- not even warm -- and clearly had been sitting for quite some time. Waiting more than 40 minutes for a filet and fries, especially when you have somewhere to be afterward, is simply unacceptable for a restaurant of J. Alexander's caliber. The reason this review is three stars instead of one is Kerod, our server. Kerod was absolutely excellent. He knew we were celebrating Sheila's birthday, and he went above and beyond trying to make the evening special despite everything going wrong with our meal. He brought us additional bread while we waited, offered us complimentary champagne (which we declined because neither of us drinks), and made sure Sheila received a complimentary birthday dessert. Most importantly, Kerod genuinely cared. He did everything within his power to make things right, and **he turned what could have been a total flop of a birthday dinner into a good memory for Sheila.** Kerod deserves five stars. I hope J. Alexander's management recognizes him for the way he handled a situation that was completely outside his control. We know J. Alexander's is capable of much better food service than what we experienced that day, and hopefully this was an exception. But a 40+ minute wait for a filet and fries followed by completely cold fries is something that definitely needs to be addressed. The overall experience was great. Location was easy to reach and parking was a no brainer (lots and lots of parking - baseball stadium type parking). Interior and exterior seating was spacious with outside seating lining the front of the restaurant. Inside was bright with modern decor. Great Food, Disappointing First Impression I was so excited to visit J. Alexander's after not being to one since my late 20s when I lived in Birmingham. I remembered loving the food, especially the shoestring fries and chicken tenders, and couldn't wait to introduce my husband and friends. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly at the host stand. The two young ladies were extremely dry, unwelcoming, and lacked the basic warmth and hospitality I would expect from an elevated restaurant. One barely acknowledged me with a monotone "Hey, how are you?" while the other didn't say anything at all. No smile, no welcome, no effort to make us feel valued. Thankfully, the food was excellent, and our waitress was phenomenal--sweet, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. She absolutely made up for the disappointing welcome, and we made sure to show our appreciation in her tip. J. Alexander's, your food is still as good as I remembered, but hospitality starts at the front door. I hope management provides some coaching because the host stand sets the tone for the entire experience. I'd return for the food, but I sincerely hope the welcome is much warmer next time. read more

What a great first experience! This is a new location at the Battery in Atlanta. I visited the first week this restaurant opened. You always expect some growing pain but honestly, the execution was amazing. I went during lunch so it wasn't too busy but the services was exceptional. I hope they keep the team approach because you definitely felt cared for. The food is always good at J. Alexanders and this location is no exception.I had the crispy chicken salad and it was delicious. This will be added to my rotation of restaurants. I typically go to Houston's at West Paces. The food at J. Alexanders is ever bit as good with less price. Plus you don't have to deal with the pesky dress code and sometimes condescension of Houston's host staff. Again, I love both restaurants but if you want a more casual, less expensive option this is a good one! read more
