Sister #2 has Burger and Fries. She had nothing left, said it was quite tasty.

Service was great , I found out about the sour dough bread, it was so hot and delicious. Even the butter was good. My salmon was cooked perfectly, my rice and black beans were the perfect side dish. Ended the evening with "The Powerful Stuff". If you have not had that dessert , it's worth a try. I wouldn't recommend eating it alone, it was a chunky portion. If you like all the ingredients it is a a delicate balance. The Ambience is always at the right balance, the slightly dim lighting helps you to feel cozy but professional.

Had a girls lunch here to discuss some upcoming party planning. I was not very hungry and wanted something light so I decided on the shrimp tacos and let me tell you... Fabuliso, ambrosial, umami... I have not been a huge fan of shrimp tacos in the past however, I feel like I have been born again. And let's talk margarita... The Elite Margarita was perfectly handcrafted. James was our server and he was absolutely precious, professional and attentive. Just the kind of professionalism you would expect from J. Alexander's!

9-2-2024 We all had another late night heading back home and always to our surprise, MOST places are closed by 9! This place stays open til 10! Thank God! It was 5 of us, got there around 9:20pm. Our waitress was Maddie. What a beautiful and pleasant young lady!! Very attentive too! I will request her next time we stop by! We ALL love the atmosphere at this restaurant! The food??? wow! Exceptional!! Everything is just superb! Even though we got there late, close to closing, we are never pressured to eat and leave so they can close! That means a lot! J Alexander's was exactly what I needed today! My server, Jamie was heaven sent and the absolute best. I always enjoy the welcoming atmosphere. But tonight it was truly the service and food that made our day. My hubby ordered the prime rib. I didn't even have to chew it and it was so flavorful. This is coming from someone who likes their steak "cooked." I ordered the Steak Maui and the taste was impeccable. It was perfectly prepared. I can't forget the horseradish cream sauce. I could drink it!!!! So glad we decided to come out and dine. We will be back.

My family and I came on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated immediately. Our waiter was super friendly but kept forgetting our drinks. We ordered the Mac and Cheese but the waiter brought fries. When we addressed this, he brought us the Mac and cheese but still charged us for the fries. The prime rib is always good- I've been here a few times. It's very soft and tender and is good on its own. No sauce or salt is needed. The crab dip was very rich, cheesy and had huge chucks on crab meat! There's plenty of parking. The ambience is very classy, though most were dressed casually. This is located next to the mall, so convenient after a day of shopping.

We decided to dine in here since it's been forever since we last been here. I must say everything was good the spinach artichoke dip was so delicious. I love the whole vibe and atmosphere with the low dimmed lights. We had the best waiter! She was very friendly. My wife love the fact you can use the waiter app which is a plus for us. I enjoyed a chill dinner with great service here at J. Alexander's on a week night. This steakhouse is spacious and we were able to get seated without a wait. The staff was welcoming and respectful (as expected for this type of restaurant) and our waiter was helpful when it came to questions about the menu. Food: I ordered the grilled salmon (great) which came with a side of orzo & wild rice (I was not a fan since it was cold and the rice mixed in could've been softer). I ended up enjoying my friends side of smashed potatoes. Despite the several notices on the menu that meat cooked medium-well or above is not offered or recommended I sure was pleased that my salmon dish was cooked perfectly medium-well and my friend's steak was also cooked perfectly medium-well :) Dessert: Delicious chocolate cake with a scoop of Vanille ice cream. So good! I was also large portion- enough for two. Drinks: I had hot tea for the night. I really appreciated the presentation/spread + addition of honey upon my request. Overall I was really satisfied with the portions/value and service. I'd recommend a visit and would likely return! read more

Looking for a great place for date night or just a family dinner this is the place. You can not go wrong with anything you pick off the menu. Every time I go I get something different and I am not disappointed by it. This time around I got one of their specials which was the snapper with garlic butter sauce and it was cooked to perfection. I also ordered the Alex Salad which I split with my husband and it was enough for both of us. I will tell you that their fries are better then any other restaurants that I ever had. After celebrating all weekend I decided to order take out for my actual birthday dinner. I ordered the steak Maui cooked medium with a loaded potato and Mac and cheese. The food was phenomenal and perfectly cooked. They even included extra glaze for the steak which was perfect. The potato was baked to perfection. I was expecting something different for the Mac and cheese but it was still really good. I'm not use to breadcrumbs being included. I absolutely love J. Alexander. I have never had a bad experience there and the ambiance is amazing every time. My favorite things to order are the Steak Maui or the Emerald Coast Shrimp. The loaded smashed potatoes never disappoint & the NYO Mac & cheese can't be beat. Even the wait staff is great. Their prime rib is very special. It is perfectly roasted and very tender. Actually, all of the food was great- except for the salmon dip appetizer. It tasted similar to tuna salad and wasn't very appetizing. The entree was great, but so were the sides. Their Mac and cheese is top notch, and so were the mashed potatoes. One of my very favorite restaurants. We love date nights and family dinners here. A little pricey but well worth it. The food is amazing. My favorite menu item is the NY Strip. The menu states it comes with macaroni and cheese (which is amazing) but I normally order loaded smashed potatoes instead. I have never had a bad meal here. Food was excellent as usual but service was a bust. We had reservations for 545 for Cmas eve fam dinner. Our waitress rushed us , we had maybe eaten 1/3 of our dinner and had been there for maybe 40 mins and had our plates 15 mins and she asked how many to go boxes we needed and then 5 mins later asked us how many to go drinks we needed. I finally stated to her that I wasn't ready for to go drinks we were still eating. This is one of my favorite places to dine! The service is decent not like it use to be but still decent! The choices on the menu are good! My favorite item was the roasted chicken but I now love the fresh fish with Czarina sauce. My favorite appetizers Mexico City Spinach Con queso and the Emerald Coast shrimp. The chips for queso has changed and it does NOT go with the queso! I hope they would consider changing them back to tortilla style because corn style chips are a no go! The first time the steak was pretty good but this past time it was overcooked and the char on the outside was bordering on burnt. During our most recent visit I started with the wedge and my Wife the sensation salad. My wedge was good but not in the top 3 best I have ever had. My Wife was not pleased with the sensation salad at all. The sensation was very small and not enough dressing. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese and Potatoes Au Gratin. The Mac & Cheese was very good. It taste and looked a lot better than most of the pictures posted on Yelp. The potatoes were okay, not great but not horrible. The complimentary bread was good however, not close to even being top 10. We finished our meal with the New York Cheesecake. It was okay as well, you can find just as good of cheesecake at a lot of places.

All I received was meat and potatoes. I've prepared better tasting steak in a crock pot. I've thought about returning but I won't after reading this is standard for Flemings. All meats were cooked adequately but the food was lukewarm probably owing to sitting in the kitchen under the heat lamp than being delivered promptly. When I have gone, I regularly have to ask for refills on soda as I am the designated driver often for department functions. Servers pay you no heed if you do not buy alcohol. Because I go here because of academic reasons, I would barely go here myself. I've been here many times and found it wanting. It's an ableist place in its infrastructure. It's fine I'm atmosphere as a cocktail bar but would little recommend it to people I call friend.

When I arrived at this restaurant, I was disappointed by how I was greeted. The hostess at the entrance repeatedly asked if I was an Uber driver, even after I explained that I was there to dine and needed a table for two. The interaction made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, and I couldn't help but feel that it may have been influenced by my appearance. Because of that experience, I didn't feel at ease during my visit. I chose to take my food to go rather than eat in, as I no longer trusted that I would be treated with respect. For a restaurant that should be known for hospitality, this was far below expectations. I hope management takes this kind of feedback seriously and ensures all guests regardless of background or ethnicity are treated equally, it's still the South. read more
