Stopped by the Oak Steakhouse for a business dinner a while back and it made a strong impression. The restaurant is beautiful, elevated enough for a date night, but well-suited for a business dinner. Parking can be bit tricky. You'll need to either find parallel parking or use a nearby paid garage. Once inside, you'll check in with the host. Definitely worth making a reservation ahead of time to ensure you are seated without a wait. The overall experience feels a step above many Raleigh, comparable steakhouses you'd find in Dallas. We started with a bottle of the 2009 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet wine to start with. The sommelier brought out a decanter to let the bottle of wine breath before serving it, which was a nice touch. Next we ordered our main entrees. I ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon with black truffle butter. We also ordered the parkhouse rolls for the table along with several sides (Mac & cheese, braised collard greens, and the bone marrow frites). The steak was excellent and the server melted the butter down with a blowtorch. The sides were all well executed and complemented the meal nicely. If you're ever in the area and looking for a high-end dining experience, Oak Steakhouse in downtown Raleigh is definitely worth a visit.

I came for the deviled eggs but the steak frites won me over! The deviled eggs are not quite bite-sized, so you do have a mouth full but it's an explosion of the best deviled eggs I've ever had. The fried oyster on top with a drop is hot sauce was incredible. I got a half portion of the roasted carrot salad, I could have used more carrots and I didn't realize it came with blue cheese but overall a really good salad. There were these crispy cornbread sprinkled on top, I could have eaten that by itself! And the steak frites won me over, perfectly cooked steak and the bone marrow fries were amazing. The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant is dimly lit so great for a date night dinner.

Excellent birthday dinner & luscious dessert choice of flavors of gelato. The steaks were delicious & incredible service with our waiter. Great liquor & wine selection. Loved the bread choice as well. All around a great experience & meal!

Overall we enjoyed our dinner here. Out of everything I was most impressed with service, our server was not only friendly and conversational, but also very knowledgeable about everything on the menu, provided great suggestions, and anticipated all of our needs. Truly great service. I liked the atmosphere of the place too, plenty of tables, yet it's kind of stretched out and the place doesn't feel crowded, I liked it. Booth and bar seating available. Freshly baked rolls with whipped butter were absolutely amazing. I went for hangar steak and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. We also had confit duck leg and knew your strip steak at our table and our friends loved it too. Sides "for the table" were hit or miss for me; Mac and cheese is delicious but that is not "for the table" size, this is a standard side for one person. Fries were great, good amount too (for the table!). Shishito peppers were eh, too overpowering flavor and hazelnuts seemed not fresh, but maybe it's just me. The peppers were the only thing we didn't finish. I also loved that all ice cream and sorbet flavors to choose from were unusual and house made. It's expensive so it's definitely not for your casual random go out night, but like I said, we had great experience here.

Went on a Sunday night so it was a quiet atmosphere in there. Waiter was attentive and had good suggestions. Bone marrow was interesting, I wanted to try it at least once. Good steak. It was my birthday and they brought out a plate with a candle lit on it. It would have been better to not do anything vs that cause it was a little pathetic hahaha.

This was a last minute walk in and I sat at the bar so hungry from the day. I was attending an event nearby and couldn't focus until I filled my belly and I knew this place wouldn't disappoint. I sat at the bar, ordered an old fashioned, some rolls, a burger with fries and an additional side of collards. My burger was ordered medium and cooked exactly how I liked it. The collards were a great sized portion and seasoned well. It was pretty close to closing but it didn't compromise my experience on service or food which is always nice. Needless to say, I left happy with a belly full

Classic American steakhouse at its finest, the gorgeous modern design gave a sophisticated vibe without being overly pretentious. I visited on a semi quiet Tuesday evening with only a few patrons at the bar. The waiter was fast and welcoming, immediately took my drink order of an old-fashioned that was perfectly executed. I had the medium rare steak frites, but substituted the fries for collard green. The steak was well-seasoned and buttery, while the flavorful collard greens were a bit too sweet for my liking. Also, the portion of the collard greens was weirdly massive, more than enough for two people. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and absolutely adored the elegant design and ambience of this wonderful establishment, and will add it to my bi-weekly roaster.

This is the 3rd time we have been here and this time the food was ok only. What is good this time: deviled eggs. The fried oysters are crunchy. We always get these every time we come here and so far they always make perfect deviled eggs. Filet mignon is soft and very good. The outside is cooked with some crust. Pair with their own sauce Oak steak sauce is perfect. The raw oysters are also fresh. Tartare was a miss this time. We did not taste the nuoc mam like we had last time. The rockefeller oysters are ok. We found them too cheesy. Caesar salad is also a miss. Not romaine salad like it should be. It has bitter taste. Do not get Foie Gras (the liver). We love liver but this is not liver at all. Overall the food is not good at all this time.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner, and it was a great choice! Our server, James, made our experience even better. He was amazing and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the oysters Rockefeller to try. And while I'm not a big oyster person, the topping on it was really good. For my entree, I had the boneless ribeye, and I can say it was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was juicy and so full of flavor! I got a side of chimichurri, and that was the perfect addition. The sides are shareable, so we got mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese was okay. But the mashed potatoes? Absolutely delicious! If I come back to the area, I'd definitely go back there. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it.

Don't confuse this place with "The Oak" as I did...they are two separate restaurants in different parts of the city lol. This one is relatively new compared to some of the older staples like Angus Barn or Sullivans. I'm a huge fan of Angus Barn, they make a mean steak and sides. The Oak is just as good if not better in certain categories such as sides. However, the Angus Barn wins for atmosphere and theme, the Oak is just a typical higher end steakhouse very clean and very modern. Service here is exemplary. Never ever had anything to complain about. The food is oh so amazing. I usually get the ribeye rare and it comes out perfectly each time and has a ton of flavor. It's a bit more pricy compared to the Angus Barn but the venue is much smaller and way less crowded, so more intimate. You feel less cramped in here. I really love their salads and Brussels sprouts. They bake fresh rolls and bring them to your table hot, they are much more dense than the fluffy rolls you'd get at Texas Roadhouse, having more substance and less sugar. Any of the appetizers or sides I've had have also been amazing. I would rank the Oak as my 2nd favorite steakhouse in the triangle after Angus Barn. Definitely 5 stars or above.

Walking in, you get an immediate cozy vibe in the restaurant. The server was always attentive and checking in on us. I dont usually eat oysters, but these were yummy. I ordered the steak and fries and everything was great quality.

This time, maybe my expectations were too high, but it didn't strike me the same was as it did over 30 years ago. First off, I want to say that service from Andy was excellent! He was very attentive and actually interacted with us. We were celebrating my dad's birthday and Andy was really making it a big thing for him. He kept our glasses full and came around to check on us often. When he brought us the filets, he actually had us cut it down the middle and had a flashlight to allow us to see if it was cooked right. The ambience was still the same as before but more decoration with a lot more space and a lot more tables. It was a little on the noisy side but it was also almost full which I thought surprising on a Sunday. I think the wood walls helped absorb the sound better. We were seated immediately toward the back even being 20 minutes early of the reservation. The tables have a blue checkered tablecloth (used to be red checkers back in the day) and most everything was wood (walls, floor, etc). As you approach the front door, the covered area out front has seating and a bar with valet parking at the entrance to the covered porch. As you enter the main entrance, a country store counter is on the left, selling Angus Barn items, along with the restrooms further down. Straight ahead is the host station and then it opens up to the huge dining area. Wherever there are steps, there's also a ramp for handicap access. The food was a little disappointing to me. When I order a filet, I do expect it to melt in my mouth without much cutting required, and to have a natural taste to it as I don't usually put any sauce on it. This one comes with a red wine sauce which I was trying to use to get some taste in the meat but didn't like it. The bacon was sitting on top burnt to a crisp. The baked potato was good but the Caesar salad with homemade dressing didn't hit the spot for me. However, the chocolate cheesecake was very good! Also, the cheese/crackers/olives/etc starters waiting for us at the table was nice (used to have this at a big table at the front door where you wait for your seat but I'm sure COVID stopped that). Overall, the food was just OK, but not what I'd easily come back and pay the price for the filet. I'm not sure if maybe they hired a new cook and we got him/her or if this is just how they prepare their filets. I was going to give it a 4, but then asked myself if I were to look at a 4, wouldn't I expect the author to return... I probably won't return....... unless someone took me and let me order the chocolate cheesecake :-)

Venue: it is good sized venue, ambient and has upscale elegant - classic theater type of look. Went to the small room area in the back to the left past the kitchen. Food: I have tried crab shrimp bisque, cheese steak roll, calamari, NY steak and cheese cake. The shrimp bisque was good but I've had better- for example near by Capital grill and definitely not closed to any of the bisque at fisherman's wharf. But you know what, when I got chunk of crab and shrimp I started to change my mind that it was getting pretty good. Cheese steak roll was pretty good but real rich. Calamari had good flavor but extremely sweet. The whole table agreed that there was unnecessary amount of sugar in there. Steak was nice and thick- however it would've been better if it had more salt and seasoning. The steak was cooked perfect medium rare. Texture was soft but I was slightly suspicious of meat tenderizer in there. Just a thought. Cheese cake was good but again, I've had better. Service: service was good. Although since it was table size to acclimate a party - everyone was attentive. Price: in my opinion it is overpriced. I.usually put price insight in the beginning but I am giving my insight on this last because- overall the experience and food was good. Surprisingly, despite the restaurant being empty, we had to wait about 30-40 minutes. The staff kept telling us our table was "getting ready," which was confusing given how quiet it was. Service throughout the meal was quite slow. We started with the shrimp appetizer, which was good. We initially ordered oysters, but were informed 10-15 minutes later that they were unavailable, so we switched to calamari, which was just okay. For entrées, we ordered steak, crab cake and crab stuffed shrimp . Steak was served on a large plate with a very small portion and no sides included. At that price point, you would expect a more substantial serving or at least accompaniments. Dessert was the highlight -- we tried the crème brûlée, chocolate cake, and carrot cake, and all were enjoyable. One odd detail: the check was split into two without the server asking how we wanted it handled. Overall, for a higher-end steakhouse, we expected better service, smoother communication, and more attention to detail. The ambience is nice, but the experience didn't quite match the price or expectations.

Upon arrival, the friendly parking security attendant asked if we needed help. It only got better. At Perry's, we were greeted and seated by smiling and friendly faces. Though Megan was our designated server; others graciously tended to us if they saw a need. For easy viewing, food was prepared through a clear glass wall. And our tasteful courses were meticulously presented. Definitely appealing to the eyes and all the way to your tastebuds! Apps were pork chop bites and salmon crostini. Followed by field green salad, leek soup and filet mignon. For a wrap it was orange cheesecake and a lemon bar which was torched tableside! Perry's Reserve Cabernet complimented our medium rare steak. ;) Such an enchanting experience is to be shared so we're heading back next week to celebrate 2 birthdays with another couple. Yum yum!!

I got the martini flight which had a sample taste of bourbon cocktail, a margarita, and a mule. I started with the steak tots which was filet mignon on a potato hash with garlic aoili. MMmmm Mmm Mmm! Then came the wedge...Aaauuhhh-maa- ziinggg! It was a nice potion with a strip of bacon, cherry tomatoes and home made dressing. My main was chicken Oscar and it didn't let me down. It was 2 chicken filets topped with lump crab and a cream sauce. This entree was placed Ontop of asparagus spears. Perfect pairing. After all that, I was full, so I got the lemon bar to go. It looked so good so when I got home you know I to try it!! The merengue and lemon zesty flavor made it hard not to have just one bite. The gentlemen next to me were very nice and Christie the bartender gave impeccable conversation and service!! One of my new faves for sure!!

You'll want to park on a side street and walk up to the restaurant. When you walk into the restaurant you'll be transported to a dark, warm, intimate, and buzzy neighborhood vibe. I'd definitely recommend booking a reservation to ensure you are able to get a table. Once we were seated I started by ordering the Long Time Listener Cocktail (Bourbon, Blackberry, Mint, Fernet-Branca) which was excellent and probably my favorite drink of the evening. For my other drink I tried the Structured Settlement (coconut washed tequila, peach, popcorn orgeat, and lime). This drink was also good, but not as good as the long time listener. For food, we started with the Manchego-Herb Biscuits which were flaky, soft, and didn't need any butter. After that we tried the Heirloom Tomato Salad (provencal granola, mozzarella ice cream, and peaches) which was perfect. The large tomato with the crunchy granola, olive oil, and mozzarella and peaches were the perfect blend of flavors. I couldn't stop eating this dish. Next, we tried the Half Smoke Sausage (roasted peppers, garlic aioli, balsamic onion jus) which surprised me. The sausage had a bit of a spicy flavor, the roasted peppers were prepared perfectly, and overall the flavors paired perfectly together. We also ordered the Bucatini (sea urchin, gulf prawn, spicy tomato sauce) which was good with the pasta and all of the flavors mixed together. The last appetizer we ordered was the yellowfin tuna crudo (honeydew, Fresno chili, shiso, tom yum ice) which was perfect. The sliced honeydew with the raw yellowfin was so good!! For the entree we split the Grilled Bavette Steak (potato rosti, shishito pepper, and sauce choron). The steak cut like butter and was cooked perfectly. For dessert we ordered the blueberry upside down cake (popcorn streusel, sweet corn ice cream) which had fresh blueberries and I couldn't stop eating this dish. I'll have to add Crawford & Son to my regular Raleigh restaurant rotation as this meal was excellent. Looking forward to my next visit.

However, during my visit for dinner yesterday, I witnessed something that was extremely disturbing and completely changed my impression of the restaurant. I observed what appeared to be the manager, Bailey, reprimanding the hostess and then reaching toward and touching/grabbing at her cleavage area while saying something to her. The hostess appeared to be very young, possibly around 19 or 20, and she looked visibly uncomfortable and frightened. I sincerely hope this young woman is okay and that this situation is taken seriously and thoroughly addressed by Crawford & Son. No employee should ever feel intimidated, uncomfortable, or subjected to inappropriate physical contact in the workplace. The only reason I am leaving a one-star review is because of what I witnessed and what I perceived as deeply inappropriate behavior toward this young hostess. I hope management investigates this matter immediately.

The Lamb Burger was incredible the last time we had it, but today it came out closer to medium-well and was overcooked and very dry. The WK Burger was much better. It was juicy, flavorful, and the bacon was a good addition. The collard greens were also delightful, with just the right amount of spicy kick. Unfortunately, the entire experience was overshadowed by the flies. There had to be at least 20 houseflies constantly buzzing around and pestering us throughout the meal. It was difficult to relax and enjoy the food. Whiskey Kitchen is normally a solid experience, but the excessive number of flies completely killed the mood today. Three stars because parts of the meal were good, but the dining environment needs to be addressed.
