I guess he wants to shock and offend his customers with his peculiar political sympathies. This 1-star review is NOT an account of the hideous rip-off work he did on my Subaru Outback which had an obvious ignition coil problem (diagnosed and fixed instantly at the Subaru dealership after Levon relieved me of $1,000 on a wild mechanical goose chase, not ever mentioning the ignition coil, and when the problem persisted, he told me he planned to continue on a "transmission" journey, which, as it turns out, had absolutely nothing to do with it.) He also replaced my front brakes, after which I had to return FOUR TIMES due to excruciating squeaking, before he got it right. This review also does not reference the estimate he gave us to fix up my mother-in-law's aging Toyota Avalon for *drumroll* FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS*. The Avalon was fixed up nicely and has been running smoothly for around $2,200 at a different mechanic's shop. P.S. In anticipation of Levon responding with one of his attack dog review responses, my wife and I were loyal, happy, enthusiastic customers, patronizing Calstate for, I'm guessing, 15 years----entrusting him with every car we've owned in our time in Burbank. We told our friends, we told strangers, and our words were true. Levon was a magical, brilliant, resourceful, fair, reasonable, honest mechanic. I don't know what changed-----was business off? Were the bill collectors knocking on the door? All I can say was, he made me feel like he was taking me for a sucker on those last visits. I am not especially mechanically inclined, but I did my homework----online, and I asked 5 different local mechanics, what they thought my car's symptoms indicated, and every one of them instantly said: "It sounds like an ignition coil is failing." Even a guy at JIFFY LUBE. After I got the car fixed properly at the dealership (bye bye $500 more) I returned to Levon and asked him how he could have overlooked a problem so obvious. His response: *pointing to an Audi in his service bay* "You see that Audi? If that car had the missing/jumping symptoms I would check the ignition coil. But I haven't heard about that problem with Subarus." Oh yes you have, on your first day of mechanic's school. Anyway, he can kiss my business goodbye and kiss my rear end with his Trump magazines.

I brought my car in for brakes and a cv joint replacement. The technician that took care of us…read morequoted a very good price for both jobs and assured us the work could be done in a couple of hours. He ordered the cv joint and brakes to begin the work that afternoon. I could clearly hear the clicking of the cv joint and knew what the problem was, so we left the car to be fixed. After about an hour, the technician called us and said that the issue was not our cv joint -- that he could not find any issue with it, but the brakes could still be done for the quoted price. I know for a fact that our cv joint needed replacing, but he said he'd already sent the part back -- before talking to us mind you -- and that if we still wanted him to do the work he would. At that point he'd lost all credibility with us, and I feared he would damage my car if I insisted he do the work when he did not want to. Best guess, he quoted us too low a price, put it in writing, and then backed out of the job. Very poor service. I approved the brake job, but he blatantly lied about the cv joint. My husband took him driving in the car to point out the clicking of the cv joint and the technician absolutely refused to acknowledge the sound CLEARLY coming from our tire. I would never recommend a liar to anyone. And as a side note - I felt completely disrespected as we waited. He put two ladies that were of his same ethnicity ahead of us in for service. When we came back, we found our car sitting in pieces while he was working on theirs. A job that was supposed to take a couple of hours took nearly the entire day. Fair warning -- This is a dishonest business with duplicitous ethics. Good luck if you go here.

Jack is one of the most honest, hardworking, and genuinely kind people you'll ever meet. His integrity is unmatched. A few years ago, when my last car was on its last legs, he could have easily taken my money to keep repairing it. Instead, he told me it wasn't worth it and that if I were his own daughter, he'd tell me to sell it and move on. That conversation alone speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. As a woman, it can be intimidating trying to find a mechanic who doesn't talk down to you, overcharge you, or leave you out of the conversation. Jack has never made me feel that way. He takes the time to explain what's going on, answers every question with patience, and always recommends what's best for me, not what's best for his bottom line.
