Grew up in Lubbock ('97-'09) but didn't actually step foot into J&B until last week. The first thing you need to know is that you have a high chance of running into someone you know here, because it's quite popular. I really enjoyed the ambience. It's a great place to study, catch up with friends, go on a casual date. Hipster vibes that that's all coffee shops right? They have a lot of different types of seating areas. They have a very cute and creative menu that feels really easter-eggy to a Lubbock local. My friend got the hot chocolate and I got their chai latte. The chai is pretty decent for Lubbock. Hot chocolate was solid. Staff is friendly and nice. I would definitely come back again. J&B is one of those classic Lubbock local establishments. J&B doesn't mean Justin Beiber coffee company. In all actually I don't actually know what it stands for but they do serve some bomb coffee. Whether it be a casual afternoon/morning brew or meeting up with a friend this place has the decor and buzz to get you going in the right direction. Parking wise this place is a bit strapped, but right across the street is a small parking lot. Decor is modern with lots of stone and lots of exposed metal. It'll kinda remind you of a roasting plant. But they got plenty of sweet seats to lounge around, do your work or enjoy a nice cup of joe. Service here is straight to the point, you order your drink and they spin it up. You pick up the drinks and pick your cozy spot. Small talk was kept to a minimum which was kinda a bummer, it's always cool to get to know the people making the drinks. Let's get down to the beans. This place makes it just right. Normally I'm not down for flavored coffee but I saw the special it looked interesting and I ordered it along with a cranberry scone. The flavor of the month was wedding cake which is a combination of almond and vanilla. The drink itself was not overly sweet and had just the right amount of bite. While I was enjoying my drink I saw several times when they would open a new bag of beans and freshly grind them for a customers cup. Awesome attention to detail. It was crafted well and even people who like their coffee black might enjoy a cold refreshing change. The scone was kneaded with love. With a slight bite density but not chalky. It also has some slight hint of cinnamon. The two really complimented each other in a surprising way. Overall if you need a quick bite a cold brew or just want to relax and get your work on this place is the place to be. You can easily waste away and enjoy the day here. Great coffee shop in the Tech area! The vibe of the cafe is amazing, lots of places to sit and study, hang out, grab a bite to eat, etc. They have a great selection of beans you can purchase to take home as well as a large selection of baked goods. I ordered the drip of the day which does rotate. It was a Kenya and it was great. No bitterness, perfectly delightful cup of coffee at a good price. This was such a good spot for not only coffee but studying as well! If you interim buying an assortment of coffee beans they definitely have options as well. My friends and I love the aesthetics and environment they have to offer and the coffee is so yummy. Just passing through on a road trip and found this place the most attractive from other reviews read. Grabbed a taste test if there Dark drip of the day "Brazil". It was a mild dark, not over roasted with slight smokey taste and medium- low acidity. We asked if they served affogato...although they hadn't ever heard of it before, they NAILED it!!! Great creamy vanilla ice cream with a perfect espresso flavor complement!!! If accustomed to good quality coffee in a local coffee bar with personality, they've got your spot. P.s. Went yesterday and ordered a coffee at 8:15 pm so I could get some late studying in, and the men working the counter were not very friendly and made my boyfriend and I feel like a total inconvenience. They started to play terrible music (I'm assuming in hopes that everyone would leave), but when nobody left they resorted to other means. They began putting chairs up around 9 pm which I thought was fine until a man mopping asked us to leave at 9:15 so they could CLOSE. I double checked the hours online and on the door and they both said 10 pm, but he was very rude so we left. As soon as we stepped out of the shop, they closed the door behind us and locked it up immediately. The other people who were asked to leave with us were just as shocked and confused. Definitely need some training on customer service. read more

Objectively, not a bad place. Good coffee. Gf and I got latte w/ hazelnut flavor and a Lubbock High respectively, and they tasted pretty good. Unfortunately, the place was packed, and while the seating is ample, all the chairs are old and wobbly. The prices are decent for the quality you get, so it's worth it. Personally, the shop itself is not my taste, but to each their own. The employees weren't rude to us, but they also weren't friendly and inviting like most places. Stopped in to do some work and taste the coffee. The Good: Fast, free WiFi connection. I had a "Caramel Cowboy" macchiato and it tasted great. It seems like a specialty coffee shop done right from selection to seating to decor. The Bad: Even at 11am on a Tuesday during the summer it was packed. While the seating was abundant, virtually every table was taken. I managed to find a seat without having to snuggle up next to anyone. My "specialty" drink cost about $5 for a 20oz. Steep prices that I'm not comfortable saying were worth it. Overall: I'll go back because the drink enticed me to see how the coffee tastes. I'm a bit apprehensive, though, considering how packed it was. read more

Stopped through here on my way to Austin from New Mexico and was pleasantly surprised with this spot! Came on a Sunday morning and the line was quite long so my friend & I waited a while before actually getting our drink. There is ample seating, cute decor, and plenty of coffee options that have cute unique Lubbuck names. I ordered a soy latte which nothing special and the taste of their espresso was a bit muted against the milk which I was disappointed about. But, overall it was a decent cup of coffee. I think this would be a great spot to study or work at in the morning, and there are plenty of sweet coffee options for those who like the flavored drinks. I really enjoyed this coffee shop! The atmosphere was the right mix of noise and coziness. My tea was served piping hot (a little too hot for my taste. I had to let it cool down before drinking). I like that they have a huge hidden back area behind where the bathrooms are that has tons of tables and even fewer distractions. They also have plenty if couches and lounge type seating if you don't want a stiff table. The staff was extremely friendly and made sure to clarify exactly what I ordered. The natural light is something you usually don't get at Starbucks. Overall, I would say this place gets my seal of approval. I'll definitely go back! read more

We came here before church nearly every Sunday for over a year. Most of the time, we were incredibly pleased with our order, the atmosphere, and service. Unfortunately, they have one employee that is absolutely hateful and mean, prompting us to do something different with our time and money going forward. I hadn't been there in ages until last Wednesday when my son asked to go. On this one occasion, my hot chocolate was barely lukewarm and his coffee tasted odd.
