Honestly I didn't have high expectations due to the low reviews but I was pretty surprised at the food I got. Popcorn chicken- so this is definitely not the popcorn chicken I'm used to. They use a wet batter to coat the chicken instead of the potato starch so it doesn't have the outer panko-like texture. It also doesn't have any five spice taste. Despite this, the chicken was very moist and delicious. Paired with their spicy sauce, it was actually quite addicting. Fried oyster mushrooms - delicious, juicy and crispy. I'd get this again. Fries - this one is a pass for me. It's crispy on the outside and mash potato textured on the inside. Not too greasy but nothing too special for me. Orange chicken sandwich - this wasn't what I expected at all. The orange chicken sauce is very watery and I could barely taste the sauce at all. It just tasted like a slightly sweet chicken sandwich. The chicken was juicy and the slaw they added had a good crunch to it. Overall it's enjoyable but I'd probably get the regular chicken sandwich instead. This location is near the Target at Spectrum. Small space inside. The ordering is at the 2 kiosks. Easy to use although I did have to ask the worder how to apply the BOGO special and she said they just make you two when you order one! We got the BOGO fish cakes, the popcorn chicken and a box of regular chicken. I wasn't a fan of any of it. The coating was too sweet for my taste. Chicken was nothing great and the sauces we got tasted like something from a fast food place. The portion was pretty good though, esp for the free box of fish cakes and the popcorn chicken. I don't leave 1-star reviews very often, but I just could not think of a reason to even give it 2 stars. First, the ordering on their kiosks seems a little overly complicated. Although I appreciate all the questions, they got annoying after a while, especially when they gave several options for how much ice you wanted in the drink. They also have Pepsi, which I don't care for, but worse, they only had Pepsi Zero, which, frankly, is just gross tasting. So settled for root beer. When we finished ordering, the total for 2 people was $35! That was for one combo, an entree, and another drink. Then we sat and waited. And waited. In fact, we waited long enough to try a different table, as the first one was by the door and it was hot outside. So we tried a booth, and immediately plopped down on a bench that was way too low for the table. Back to the old table. While we were waiting, we weren't a fan of the music. I used Shazam and figured out it was a female K-pop group. I'm sure kids love it, but it's not my taste. Looking around, the place needs a remodel and a paint job. Chips are all over the walls and corners. It looked like someone tried to paint the walls, but the color didn't quite match. The drain for the soda machine needs a very deep cleaning. They do have a status screen that tells you when your order is ready, which is nice. Then the food. I ordered the 2-piece chicken combo. It didn't look anything like the pictures. The roll is a hamburger bun! I tried the chicken, and well, blech. I thought I would attempt to make a sandwich, but that was worse. Although the chicken was moist, the breading had more texture than taste, and the texture just wasn't good. The curly fries (à la Arby's style) were limp and not crunchy at all. The root beer was good, as I like the Stubborn brand, but the lid was so weird to drink from; it was hard not to spill on my shirt. I ate maybe 1/2 the order because I was starving, but threw the rest away. read more

We decided to get a snack here while waiting for our table at din Tai fung. Both are located in the Irvine spectrum center. I'm from Sacramento so the Irvine spectrum center is comparable to the fountains at Roseville or the Palladio in Folsom in the sac area. We ordered popcorn chicken, french fries and drinks (mainly for the kids) and to get a snack since we were hungry. Inside has a few tables, which there were one or two other customers inside dining. Inside the space was pretty messy. It looks like the workers did not have time to clean since there were crumbs and bits of trash. I'm glad we didn't dine in. For the food, since it's made to order, we waited just over 15 minutes for the fried foods. It came out piping hot, which we didn't really get to enjoy since by then, our table at din Tai Fung was ready. So we brought it with us. The chicken was really good.
