What a hidden gem! It's part of a bunch of ghost kitchens. We are so happy we gave them a try today. The soup is so flavorful and the abalone chicken rice and abalone iberico pork rice are all so full of delicious flavors and are made with high quality ingredients. It's so good, my son started to dance while he was eating! My husband said he hasn't had such delicious multi-layered flavors in food in a long time! I like their braised pork knuckle and feet. The order doesn't come with good amout of meat but they do taste good. I dont recommend the eel and salmon roe rice tho. The eel is so small, that I felt like I was robbed. If the attached picture can't tell you, just image the size of a cigarette box but not with the width.....and it is sold for $18.. Pork knuckle bowl was good. Careful if you cant handle spicy because the red chilis in this are HOT. It came with picked veggies a d a fried tofu. This is a good filling bowl that I definitely can see myself ordering again if i was eating by myself. The pork feet rice is the standard. I've been curious but tentative about trying Lao Tang Jia for quite some time, because I'm not very familiar with many of the ingredients featured in their dishes, but I'm so delighted that I did! I got the pork knuckle rice since it seemed to be one of their most popular items, and it was incredibly flavorful (without relying on heavy salting), succulent, and well-balanced in flavor and types of nutrients (i.e. pork, rice, eggs, fresh veggies, pickled veggies). Based on another reviewer's caution about spice level, I ordered mine "lightly spicy" and it's perfect (you can also order not spicy at all) for my spice tolerance, which is capped at Hot Cheetos level. Also, as someone who has a famously hearty appetite, I found the portions to be generous and of great value. Service was also polite and highly efficient. First time trying this concept and it's really cool. It's not a typical restaurant that you can sit down but instead it's a "take out or delivery " only spot. Many restaurants under 1 roof. They call it Smart kitchen. You can order different food from variety of restaurants through a touch screen so you don't have to drive place to place. I had the pork knuckle rice and it's so tasty! The only good thing I can say about it is that the food is good. Ghost kitchen which won't appeal to some. Arrived at location and had a hard time trying to order with the machine. Called and was told I got the wrong number by a lady who couldn't speak English well. Call again got the same lady who gave the phone to a guy who told me to order through ubereats/Grubhub and the likes cause they are too busy to take the order(wtf). Since I was already here and wanted to try the food I ordered through ubereats which came out to about $10 more before tips compared to ordering here directly. Food is great but not the best. There used to be a taiwanese joint nearby but has since closed down that we missed so much. This place does offer similar quality food but on slightly less flavor profile. The only issue is the price. It can't be helped since the inflation pretty much eff economy up. I just need to get used to high price on everything (include things that are normally considered cheap because the theme was taiwanese lunchboxes). Service is minimal because it's not exactly a restaurant but a joint to take your food to go. And that takes away the ambiance as well.
