I've always had great experiences here, which is why this visit was so disappointing. We ordered our food to go but asked if we could sit inside to eat it. We were told there was no room available inside, so we had to sit outside in the 90° heat (With a toddler). The frustrating part was that there were more than 10 empty tables inside the entire time we were eating. Because we were forced to eat outside, we were sweating the whole meal and it honestly put a damper on the rest of our day--we didn't even feel like shopping afterward. On top of that, it took over 15 minutes just to get our drinks, and even though we were eating there after all, they insisted on serving everything in to-go containers instead of simply plating the food. We ended up having to unpack everything ourselves at the table anyway. The food is usually excellent, and I honestly didn't want to leave a negative review because we've always enjoyed coming here. However, I hope management takes feedback like this seriously and is a little more accommodating to customers in the future. My husband and I stopped in at Georgia's last weekend for an early dinner. This spot has been here for a year and I had been to the Anaheim location previously, so I had an idea of what to expect. We opted for the Tri-tip salad (no blue cheese) with dressings on the side, a cup of gumbo, smothered pork chops with mac & cheese and red beans & rice. It was quite the meal. We ordered up front and were given a number which we brought to our table. They have condiments on a little side table near the back door to the patio. Our food came out in a steady pace. The gumbo was a delightful size for one person but we shared it. It is not spicy but a little Louisiana hot sauce made it sing. The salad came out with blue cheese, which again, I did not want. My husband brought it back to them and they brought out one without the blue cheese. The smothered pork chops were delicious. The mac & cheese was on point. My husband seemed to enjoy the red beans and rice. I'm not one for beans so I did not pass judgement. We both went to town on the entrees and really enjoyed it. The gumbo was a bit watery but okay. The okra did not thicken it up too much which was surprising. The food is delicious. My husband is from New Orleans so he approved. I was debating between the flat iron steak and tri tip, but the staff at the counter let me know they were actually out of tri tip that day. The flat iron steak was good, and the chimichurri was great! I asked for medium rare, but just a couple slices were a bit too rare. The collard greens and coleslaw were both delicious. Finally gave Georgia's a try! We've always passed by the restaurant going to Spectrum and we decided to go for it. We got the gumbo, shrimp + grits, and the shrimp + fries. The gumbo was the best out of the 3. It was flavorful and after I finished, I wanted to dip the fries in there. The cup is a bit smaller than I thought. The shrimp + grits was good, but it wasn't as flavorful as the gumbo. The fries were standard fries, but it was goood along with their ranch. Our friend recommended Georgias to us last week. We went during our lunch and ordered blacken chicken pasta and fried chicken platter with two sides ( Cajun rice and fries). A great place for soul food located in the center of Irvine Spectrum. The closest parking to this location is either in the south side of the structure that is closest to the movie theater or the parking lot directly outside of the restaurants. Both require a brief walk to the restaurant. The parking can be very crowded at times and there are alternative parking lots and structures that are a little farther away. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available at this location. You order your food at the register and are given a number to bring to your table. They have a pretty large variety of dishes on their menu. The staff were very friendly and the service overall was excellent. The meal came with complimentary cornbread and honey butter. The cornbread was warm with a slight crisp on the outside but was soft in the middle. We were sharing a blackened chicken pasta and the restaurant offered to split the dish for us for free. The pasta was cooked al dente and had a delicious savory and creamy sauce. The chicken was tender and had good flavor as well. The beignets were very crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the chocolate sauce that it came with was a great addition. I first tried Georgia's Restaurant during a Yelp Elite event and was excited to come back and try the blackened chicken pasta. We also ran it back on the cornbread which is complimentary if you dine in and the beignets. The chicken and pasta were cooked to perfection. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, and the pasta had a nice al dente bite to it. The cornbread was warm and soft with great flavor. The beignets were fried with a crisp exterior and a soft, chewy inside which made them a great way to end the meal. The inside is vibrant and spacious with plenty of room to sit comfortably. They have amazing customer service. The person who took our order was friendly and helpful, and the staff continued to check on us throughout the meal even though you pay before sitting which is something I really appreciated. read more

This was my second time at Georgia's and my goodness, the above and beyond top-notch service I received from Quantez was amazing and a blessing!! From the moment I came in until I left, he made my visit a memorable and pleasant experience. It wasn't very busy during this time which was perfect for me. The inside was clean, well put together and there's even outdoor seating to enjoy! I came in to order a small bowl of Jambalaya with two individual orders of original cornbread pieces (2 pieces of bread). I walked out with two Jambalaya bowls instead of one and two complimentary orders of cornbread (4 pieces of bread). I truly thank Quantez for being such a kind light during my visit! Between this top notch, kind, and upbeat service I received from both Michael and Quantez during my two visits, id say I may have discovered my NEW Favorite Soul-Delicious restaurant here in OC!! I'm a native of New Orleans now living here in San Clemente. When I saw George's on Yelp, I decided to go have some southern cooking. Service was not too hot as you order at the counter. People were milling around back there. No one came for about five minutes to take my order. I went out and sat on the patio. Quickly I was delivered my iced tea and my cornbread muffin, the entrée itself took a while to come out, which I understand. - They had to fry the fish. I had ordered cabbage which their version of cabbage is nothing I ever eaten in the south - the mashed potatoes seem like they came out of a box. The fried catfish was actually good - again, though it seemed like they had bought it at Costco already froze and all they had to do was deep fry. There was a little patio setting that you can watch the people walk by at the spectrum. The cost of the meal I thought was pretty high. My total was $33. I don't think George's is anything to write home about. But for local California people who know nothing about New Orleans food they would think that it's excellent. You don't typically find southern food in California and if you do you've probably heard of Lousiana Charlies' and the like in Long Beach. I honestly love jambalaya and gumbo, along with any fish/seafood baskets. When I ordered at the front with the cashier, my table opted for the gumbo cup, chili mac, cajun fries, and peach cobbler. My gumbo had some spice to it, but for those who love spicy you'll probably need a bigger kick. The cup was honestly the perfect size for one person. Chili mac was delicious and is very filling, so I would definitely order this entree to share. I would like to come back and try their shrimp baskets and catfish meals, but I will take into consideration that some of these entrees are definitely big enought to share "family style" for a max of 3 people. Peach cobbler was honestly the best dessert on the menu, but they also have beignets that you don't need to drive all the way to disneyland for. I have been waiting for what seems like forever for this place to open. I don't really visit Irvine Spectrum often, but always look for it to see if it is open. I don't remember how I noticed it was open over the weekend but I immediately made time to drive up to check it out. The first scary thing was that Irvine Spectrum was absolutely PACKED on Saturday night. Little to no parking, people everywhere, and it was a really energetic atmosphere. Walking into Georgias, there was no line and only a couple of tables occupied. Its clean inside but not really what I expected the restaurant to be. I thought it would be more sit down service with a waiter... You order and pay for your food at the counter and they bring it to you. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I ordered many items from the menu to sample the variety. The first item to arrive was complementary cornbread. Sweet and flavorful, not dry or grainy. Very good. Next came the Fried Green Tomatos. While tasty, the breading was far too thick. I would have this as a kid, the breading is supposed to be just to cover not encase. After that a small jambalaya arrived. That was very good, slightly spicy. I also get Lemon Pepper wings which were very flavorful, not too salty, but had a nice tang to them and were not dry or overcooked. Finally for my main, I got the fried chicken, with fries and Mac. I will start with the sides. The fries were shoestring style, not too salty or bland. They were not super crispy but also not old or soggy. They were okay. The Macaroni and Cheese was really good, very flavorful, cheesy, and hot. Mac is one of those subjective things so I can't speak for everyone but to me, they were pretty good. Now on to the Chicken. The flavor was not exactly me cup of tea and not what I expected. Not bad by any means but just not something I would come back for. Just like with the tomatos, the breading was too thick. They season their flower which is a plus and the meat inside the thick crust was tender and juicy. Overall it was a good experience and I would like to try other things on a future visit. Everyone has bad days and perhaps with some minor adjustments to breading and seasoning, eveything can be a winner. The menu is simple and has all your favorites from the South. The only thing missing is: humidity and "Hi, ya all!" Oh, and a few flies in the air. Our jambalaya was fantastic. I have enjoyed each experience I have had at this restaurant - the food is good and unique, the staff are friendly and there are a ton of options. My go to is the 8 chicken tender bucket because it is a great value. For $28, you get 8 tenders, 2 large sides and 6 cornbread. I feel that is generous considering other wing and chicken tender place will charge you more for less. The tenders were also really big size as were the sides. I really like the Cajun fries and their baked beans. The baked beans have a lot of BBQ flavor, they do not taste like the plain out of a can type beans. The food last me several days to eat it all making it a very affordable per-meal value. I've also tried their chicken breast plate ups with mashed potatoes and other sides and everything is good and well-made. I like having these kinds of businesses in and around Irvine. Something unique and different than the ubiquitous boba and other Asian style food spots. I recommend people give this location a try as they have a ton of options on their menu. The BBQ sauce on top made the dish sweet which was surprising to me. I am used to loaded fries that are savory so I wasn't used to a sweet kind. Also, the fries were pretty oily from the pulled pork. 3/5 FRIED CHICKEN ($17.95) - the chicken was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I liked that the pieces of chicken were all dark meat. For our two sides we got mac and cheese (good) and the red beans and rice (okay). 4/5 GRETCHEN'S JAMBALAYA ($21.95) - there was a decent hint of spice in the flavorful gravy with good portions of sausage, chicken, and shrimp. The bread was also soft, sweet, and soaked up the sauce well. This was definitely our favorite dish. 4.5/5 BEIGNETS ($3.75) - this came in an order of two. My family and I visited Georgia's in Irvine while on vacation. The restaurant is described as a soul food spot. Being originally from the south I had a hard time figuring out what to get on the menu as the menu was all over the place with options. I narrowed it down to the tri-tips (medium), mashed potato with gravy on the side and a side salad. When I received the tri-tips they were over cooked and I sent them back. The replacement tri-tips were cooked what looked to be medium but lacked seasoning. The mashed potato had gravy on top instead of on the side as ordered and the salad was just ok. Other family members ordered fried chicken, and when they received their meal the chicken was undercooked. The staff member agreed that the chicken was undercooked and replaced their food. The staff member also gave us beignets as a sorry for the food not being prepared right. I personally don't think the food was cooked as soul food as it lacked seasoning and really wasn't good. We decided to try Georgia's after doing an escape room at the Irvine Spectrum. Walking in they have a large menu on the right with a plethora of different soul food options! I ended up ordering the shrimp and tilapia dish. It was very comforting and tasty! I would be careful though because it is a surprisingly heavy dish. The service was excellent! With that said, the food was good but could have been a little better. I ordered the Jambalaya with Pasta, and while the flavors were good, the most prominent protein of the chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage was the chicken, which unfortunately was far too dry to be enjoyable. We also ordered the catfish po' boy without lettuce or tomato... came to the table with them in. When you walk in, you ordered at the counter and get a number for the table giving it a relaxed almost take out feel. The dishes, glasses and silverware are definitely more dine in/order at the table feel. I do wish they would have checked on us a little more, as we did need drink refills and napkins. I don't know what it is, but if I've never eaten southern food, I would actually think jambalaya looks like that. It was literally a thick orange gravy that looked like vodka alla penne. The flavoring is decent, but it was way too thick gravy. There was hardly anything in there except literally pasta and your sausage. Even my son looked at a tri-tip and said what is this? it was a sad little piece of meat on the plate. I suppose it is the two sides of fries and corn that covered up the cost of almost $25 for that meal! The tri-tip was cooked medium the way he liked. Overall, for the cost of the meal, it was not worth it. We did try the peach cobbler and it was so ridiculous tasting we couldn't even finish it. The inside was super cold and the outside was super hot. The peach was not even melted into the sugar so it felt like eating hard a hard peach. It's almost like they warmed it up, but didn't warm it up enough ..so the outside was hot and crispy but once you get to the middle layer, you're eating a rock. The piecrust was also not flaky as Patti LaBelle would make it. I'd say at save your &9 and go to Walmart and get Patti LaBelle versus this peach rock. And you can even put your own ice cream on it, which didn't come with this peach cobbler. Georgia was not what I expected or maybe it was just the off day for them. The food was good. I enjoyed my side dishes better than the main course. The fried chicken was just ok. Needed more flavor and fried harder than I prefer. The baked beans and yams needed nothing extra. Loved them! The staff was really great. The music being played was the best! 70s and 80s R&B! There is seating both inside and outside. You have to sit inside to enjoy the good music though. Not a bad experience for a soul food place located in an outside shopping center. I'd go back to the seabass! read more
