Just terrible overall. Had previously called to inquire about a 2015 mini cooper countryman s all4. Told me to come by any other day other than Friday or Saturday. Stopped by early on a Thursday and he asked me to come back the next day. Went back the next day, explained what the issue was (either the water pump pulley tensioner or the pulley itself). He didn't bother diagnosing the vehicle properly. Just to run the engine and magically decided it's the timing chain. Claimed he didn't want to touch the car and refused service. Turns out it was the pulley that was severely cracked and needed replacement (not the timing chain). I've been to many mechanics and this guy is the worst by far. If he didn't want to diagnose a certain brand of vehicle, he could've told me that during the initial conversation over the phone. read more

I recently went to J&J because I drove down from Oakland to visit my parents and my check engine light went on. I did a scan and the error code indicated I had a slow response from the exhaust camshaft. This was right after Labor Day weekend but they saw me on Tuesday, recognized the issue and had everything fixed by early Wednesday. Multiple times I called them, they tell me to bring my car in on a certain day. When I get there, I get turned away because they were too busy to work on the car. After checking positives Yelp reviews, I decided to try this place. Because of the previous positive Yelp reviews and ratings, I wrongfully assumed the owner, a Korean man, was honest and knowledgeable about the jobs. The owner came across as a nice man at first but after a few interactions, I realized he was very rude, nasty, untrustworthy and abusive. He was talking down at me and aggressively did inappropriate name calling for no reason. He said he didn't want to service me out of the blue. Which was fine except the battery I replaced here came with warranty of 42 months and it suddenly stopped running in less than 11 months. After jumpstarting the battery, I brought my car here to get the battery checked. Because the battery I purchased here was still under warranty, he had to either replace it or fix it. Without even properly checking the battery, he told me he thinks the battery seemed to be fine and it did not need to be checked. When I insisted it needs to be looked at, he violently snatched my car keys out of my hand and proceeded to my car. He told me to go to another auto repair shop. I reminded him the only reason I came back to his shop was because he sold me the battery here. He was arbitrary, unprofessional and lawless. There were other two mechanics here, one was Jorge and the other one is a tall dude. They were both Hispanics and did not speak English well. They were just as bad, dishonest and shady as the owner. They kept saying I may have forgotten to turn off the lights in the car or there could be other car parts issues that may have caused the battery to stop temporarily. I reassured these sketchy mechanics and the owner that they still need to check the battery first and make sure it was in good shape. They deliberately tried to confuse me by saying gibberish and even alluded to upsell possibly other more lucrative repair services that were not called for. Stay away from this shady place. All the good Yelp reviews seem to make the owner loose and too comfortable to the point of being rude, unprofessional, nasty and abusive. If you need a good auto repair shop, I highly recommend Oily's Automotive in Fullerton. They are very good. read more

This place is always packed with cars. It seems like there are many women go there whom know nothing about the car. They just leave the car there after talking to the owner briefly. I feel the same. The owner takes enough profits and enough parts fee. He doesn't rip off. He is honest old man. I've been to 4 star & 5 star yelp rated auto repair shops. They were not that honest and good. They charged a lot for just simple tune ups. They didn't tell me it's tune I needed for my son's car. After all, What they did was just tune up and charged me $800. And they are 5 star rating. I can't believe it. The other place just put coolant and charged me $120. They told me they did coolant flush. After I took it out of their shop, my car engine was getting the maximum temperature again. I went back there and he wants another $600 to fix it. What an idiot. He didn't even fill me up with coolant that was getting drains out. I opened the hood and looked at it. There was no coolant. However, he displayed big sign of his religion in the store. I went out and bought coolant at walmart. I put it myself. I took it to j&j auto next day. He fixed it on the same day and there's not been any problems since. Based on my experience, he put more parts than any other shop if necessary. J&j doesn't even want new clients because he's already too busy with current customers. read more

This was my first time coming to J & J's and I'm very impressed with the service provided. My rear window actuator was out and my AC was not working. It was fixed in one day! But since I work in south county 6 days a week and I don't get off work early enough to make it to the shop in time to pick up my car. Finally an auto shop I can trust in the area! It's actually only my 3rd time here, but I already feel like I'm leaving my car in good hands. The owner really tries to put his time and care into each customer. I get the sense that he really tries to please everyone. A lot of his customers try to rush him to finish quicker, and you can tell he's really trying. I'd say it's a good idea to call beforehand because he's always busy with customers and he'll probably tell you to come back if you go at a busy time. Also, it's a lot more affordable here than other places. I've been to so many different auto shops and it's hard to find an honest mechanic who is also affordable. Definitely recommend him! read more
