The Short Story: Over two weeks waiting to pay $545 cash for a 6 foot wire only for my horn to fail before I got home. The long story is I made an appointment in early December to have my horn fixed. Dropped of my 4Runner first week of January at the shop. They called the next day with a "solution", the clock spring. I had shared all the info when I first called but shared again, fuse and relay were known working items, clock spring was new from Toyota. I asked they check the continuity from the box to the horn as the everything up to the box was working. I waited a week with no info, called and they said they hadn't got it in. Called a few days later to check in and they hadn't gotten to it. Get a call the next week that they had "swapped the fuse box" but no horn. I asked again if they had checked continuity from box to horn. Fellow rattled on about radio (professional adapted harness so no splicing) and cluster (also professionally rebuilt). I shared that info, again, and asked that they check continuity. Next day they call back and mentioned stereo and cluster again but they had fixed it. They wanted $545 for diagnosing the issue and installing a "new sauntered and wrapped wire". I asked how it was routed and if it was wrapped, "yup". My wife took the $545 cash down and paid them but they weren't ready. Came back to get 4Runner at 5:05pm and the key was on the tire. Vehicle smelled like a garbage truck and ash tray but one honk and hooray. Drove home and as I was getting home someone pulled out and I honked. Or tried to. No noise. Pull into my drive and find the pictures above. Wire run under dash through firewall, under dash slapped together, and horn wire flopping around on the battery. Nothing holding it in place, nothing professional about any of it. I wouldn't go back here if they paid me, the lost time and frustration for what is a wing spans of wire to have it fail immediately is sad. I shall fix it and route it properly and consider the half a grand a lesson learned. read more

Never been back to the stealer since new, so at about 140,000 miles i'm testing a future shop for a new clutch for my Tacoma Xrunner. WOW, was I impressed. This is a small locally owned business specializing in Toyota and Lexus products. They are honest and they do a great job. They do not try to upsell you on things you do not need like a stealership does when you are there. Their pricing is fair and much more reasonable than a dealer. Two caveats they do not take credit cards and the driveway is a it tight. Highly recommended. read more

I took my truck to get the oil changed (something I usually do, but didn't have time) it's an easy process. As easy as it is, some lazy person at Toyota techs still went the extra lazy (and stupid) way of USING AN IMPACT WRENCH TO TIGHTEN MY PLASTIC(!!) OIL FILTER HOUSING BACK ON. Any mechanic or DIYer should know oil filters don't need to be tightened so much it's (pretty much) welded to the engine. Especially when the part IS PLASTIC. Now I'm stranded in my driveway on a Sunday afternoon with a broken Toyota specific oil wrench that broke all because some lazy POS didn't want to use a torque wrench and overtightened the absolute mess out of the filter housing. read more

Used them for the second time this morning to service my father in law's car. They have a reputation for their honesty and spending your money like it's their own and that proved true once again. Showed me a slow fluid leak in the transmission but said just to keep a watch on it to get worse and then do something about it then. The customer who came in right after me was there for five minutes and they came and asked him if he was having a problem with his brakes because he still had some life on them before needing replaced. They showed him what they were talking about and sent him on his way - no diagnostic charge or anything. My other experience with them was when they stayed late on Good Friday to fix my dad's car who had just come in from out of town. After replacing his water pump, they told him the cooling fluid they used was a lifetime fluid and not to ever let anyone sell him on replacing it. I don't own a Toyota or Lexus, but if I did I would take it nowhere else but here. read more

With out a doubt, one of the best auto service shops I've ever experienced. I met Mark & Johnny 23 years ago through my business partner and I've taken every Toyota and Lexus I've ever owned to them. They are fair, straight-forward guys who do what they say and make it look easy. A few years ago, my RX330 had a brake-light problem. Dealer wanted to replace expensive electrical parts. TT bypassed with rewiring and fixed it permanently. Recently, 30k service on 4Runner was 28% less at TT than at local dealer. Plus, I trust that all of the inspections were done b/c they ran over the list with me. Trust is not easy to come by in auto repair, but these guys have it from me. read more

So if you if you haven't realized you can't trust mechanics and want to spend a bunch of money you didn't know you were going to from the original quote and want to have your car put into an actual worse condition, then try Toyota Tech in Fort Mill South Carolina. SMALL garage, unsafe conditions to just park there, unprofessional and argumentative staff. BUT close to shopping in Charlotte :). Seriously though, these guys packed on a bunch of stuff prior to my approval and stuck me with a bill MUCH more than quoted. Then told me to have someone clear out my check engine light.(isn't that illegal) then told me that all the problems (check engine light) and heater blend door had nothing to do with their very intrusive repair. It was a lesson I learned the hard way so you don't have to. Stay away and save yourself the frustration. read more
