This was my first car from a dealership, Amir is a great car sales man he will work with you and be patient with you until you find a car that's for you! One thing I didn't like about this car dealership is they sold me the car with tires from 10-7 years ago when that was one of my concerns from the start and they didn't see a problem with that or think it's necessarily bad. Please check your dot # on your tires before taking your car out of the lot or buying it because it does matter as I did come back a month after buying my car because I noticed something wasn't right with the tires, but that is on me. read more

In mid March (nine months ago from today's date) I had purchased a car from here, and since then I've had to spend almost 3k in repairs. I have been in and out of mechanics and dealerships more than ten times with this car (starting in May, less than two months after purchasing) in attempts to repair multiple oil leaks and the catalytic converter. I understand I did not purchase a warranty, but since I had purchased this car with relatively low mileage I had assumed I wouldn't run into serious issues right away and that most issues would be covered under factory warranty. My car has just under 80k miles so I have enough reason to believe that this car was sold to me with pre-existing issues that were not disclosed at the time of purchase. I just found out that I have a faulty head gasket that is leaking oil and I got quoted 4-5k from two different places to fix this issue- all this for a car I haven't even owned for 9 months yet that I had paid cash for. As a female I feel extremely taken advantage of by this dealership. When I called and explained my situation to two different associates, no one was able to rectify the situation for me or provide solid solutions. I felt uneasy buying from them because there are many one star reviews on here flooded out by a lot of five star reviews from new buyers (customers are bribed with gift cards in shop to provide a five star review). read more

What a joke! They withhold pertinent information from you on the financing. They lied about the approval not once but three times! I came in telling them I was hard to finance and explained I had bank statements as proof of income. Plenty of money and very transparent with them. They were the nicest of the places that I filled out an application with, behind that they are disorganized and heavily misrepresenting themselves. They called with the good news that I was approved so I came down and looked at the truck. Left a deposit so they could clean it up. Actually this is where it's already a HUGE red flag they haven't even inspected the truck yet! But they have advertisements on it. Only after the deposit is put down do they give it to their techs and only then do you find out if there are any issues that need repairs and you pray that nothing serious is wrong but they gave me a receipt with no business name, no last name and no terms or conditions! So I'm on pins and needles about the truck being in good condition and get their go ahead that it's ready to go. But wait! There's more... Get a call that now the banks realized I drive for Uber and they need $2000 more down. I spend all morning debating and doing the math and finally decide to go ahead and pull the trigger. Then I get a call saying I was approved for $3000 down and lower payments. I thought that was a given. Apparently the finance guy Steve doesn't tell me that I'm not approved at all. But wait! There's more... I get another text and call saying that they need my permission to submit my bank statements. Wait, what!?!? I thought we already did that. No they just lie when they say you are approved and good to go. So then I spend hours trying to get the banks website to work and finally do then wait all day for them to comb through my bank statements and have to ask while it's getting late and get a text that they didn't approve me after all even with the $3000 down. So why wasn't I told this from the beginning. Well...Steve the finance guy there doesn't tell anyone he hasn't gotten a hard approval. He only got a soft approval according to the bank. Soft approvals mean nothing as we all know. He's got everyone thinking this is a done deal. His final text messages to me were circular arguments meant to defend his withholding this pertinent information and said: Nothing is final until the bank lending the money combs the deal unfortunately your income did not work for them we are not the banks they made that call not us. We don't submit income until the customer comes in drives the car and makes sure they want it. Could've told me and everyone else that days ago! Do yourself a favor, save yourself the headache and find a better dealership. read more

I would never recommend anyone to go to J& M. All the bad jokes that you hear about used car salesmen are true....especially the salesmen at J& M. I would prefer to drive a bicycle than drive another car purchased from these "wheeler and dealers." My story: I worked with LOU ( salesman ) His business card with his handwritten ..... Out The Door Price of 37,800 ....on a truck that I wanted to purchase. It was a cash sale...little to no documentation was required. When I received the official invoice for the truck by BRAD ( manager) my "Out the Door "had changed from 37,800. to 38,514.31 I was billed... $598 for document fee.... NEVER DISCUSSED UP FRONT AND TRANSPARENT. When I brought up the difference, Brad claimed that Lou had made a "SIMPLE MISTAKE"..... off by 714.31 They refused to honor their original salesman written quote . After three days of being dissatisfied with their lack of integrity, I went to the owner ( MIKE) Dont waste your time. He is above responding to customer emails with the facts I documented Tells you how seriously he takes customers service. Lack of accountability starts at the top. Brad said that he had to "pull his pants down" in order to give me the final price he did. Really? Must be very little holding up his pants .... My final invoice was 37,982.56....still not matching the original price given to me. BOTTOM LINE: J& M refused to sell the auto at the salesman's quote This is bad business The only saving grace was Steve, the salesman who finalized my payment. He was polite, courteous and responsible. I did not buy a car here but we had a very pleasant experience with Amy and Bob! Amy and I spoke about a car I saw online and that I was interested in. She was extremely helpful by phone and by text. She even went to check the condition of the car before I drove out to CT from NJ. I drove out to see a Mini and put down a deposit since we were driving almost two hours to see it. The car was in decent condition with low miles. My husband checked a few things and it didn't seem to have any major mechanical issues. However, that day I also saw another car that was cosmetically pristine, a year newer, Mini certified and came with a 1.5 year warranty. It was a little lower on price, so I decided to roll with that one instead. Bob was very understanding and immediately refunded my deposit. (I had previously checked with Amy to make sure it was refundable and it was! Refunded to my cc in a day or so.) I saw a beautiful Mercedes on the way out that I almost considered but the Mini was more practical for me. Bob was extremely helpful and never pushy. All in all, we had a great experience and I would certainly return since J&M has an amazing selection of used cars across all price ranges. read more

I'm young and never bought a car myself so I didn't know what to look for. And to no surprise after the 60 day warranty- the engine starts to burn oil. Every 1,000 miles the oil light turns on. Initially had a decent experience here, typical used car sales experience. After our purchase though, JM showed their true colors. I've never dealt with more dishonest business practices than I have here. How someone can act like they're acting morally while lying through their teeth is beyond me. I would suggest shopping literally anywhere else. You'll get a lower price and more importantly won't have to deal with the staff and management here. There should be an option for 0 stars. This has been the worst experience purchasing a vehicle I've ever had. It broke down 3 times on the way to MI (where I live); in NY, PA, and OH. The "full inspection" they claim to perform somehow missed that it needed a new battery, alternator, radiator hoses, and leaking A/C lines and rear evaporator. The "excellent" body condition I was told it had was a lie, there are several gouges and scratches covered in nail polish! The rear sensor is falling out, the passenger door will not latch properly, automatic high beams do not work, and the ignition button was left in the cup holder for me. Every day seems to bring a new issue, and I have yet to drive the vehicle for a month. The management/owner will not return any calls after repeated attempts, and I've been informed by the service employee that they will not help in any way. I strongly recommend NOT purchasing a vehicle through this dealership. They do not stand behind their vehicles, nor ensure that the vehicles they are selling are safe to drive. With 3 breakdowns within the first few hundred miles, all in very unsafe situations on the highway, I am terrified to drive my children in this vehicle. I am out over $4,000 already within the first month, and can only imagine what next month will bring. Even though the issue of the A/C not working was told to the dealership on every subsequent breakdown, they refuse to pay for the repair. Buyer beware, there are likely many hidden malfunctions once you drive off of the lot! read more

Purchasing the car was wonderful. On my test drive of two different Subarus the first one, the check engine light came on during the drive. I ended up getting the second one I drove even though it was the older model. I had no complaints and would've recommended the business widely. I bought the car in February and in July my engine died and I needed a new one entirely. NO PROBLEM! As I was told with the third party warranty I purchased would cover "even an engine replacement, not like you'll need it". Unfortunately it did not cover the engine replacement. Upon finding this information out I called J&M to ask why they even sold me the warranty and my voice was elevated as this was a stressful experience. The guy said I swore at him, refused to talk to me. I hung up and left a google review they then tried to smear me in with a reply. After an $8000 engine replacement at Subaru -as I was told I could use my warranty at any Subaru dealer in the country. I was out $3000 of my personal funds and was left wondering how to scrape their vinyl logo off of my car without damage. Highly recommend the salesmen. Would not use the service area. read more

In early June I found a car I liked in my price range but during the second test drive noticed the stereo and A/C weren't working. Was promised they would be fixed before I drove off of the lot. A week later I left and everything seemed to be in order- they told me they had installed a new stereo and with the windows down could feel what I thought was cool air coming out of the vents. I like to drive with the windows down, but once summer really hit and I used the A/C, the air was blowing but not cool. Brought it to my mechanic and they said I needed a new compressor. Within 2 months of buying my car, I had to spend $850 to fix something I was told was already fixed. Which is too bad, because I thought I had had a pleasant car buying experience. read more

My family has gone to J&M Auto over the last 10 years to purchase vehicles, being consistent customers. So, choosing to purchase my 2012 Jeep Liberty from them in December 2021 seemed like a good choice. Cosmetically the Jeep looked great, but supposedly had a few issues under the hood to fix before I could drive it off the lot. I trusted them and thought nothing of it. Over a month later my Jeep was still not ready, though I had already made the purchase and given them 14k (also purchasing the extended 5 year warranty they talked me up to). Vinny, our salesman, and his team consistently kept saying the parts they needed were on back order and hopefully it would be done soon. I was frustrated and needed the vehicle for work, but was being understanding because I wanted something that would be safe so I waited. Well, I guess I waited around 2 months for nothing, because they all but Frankensteined the underneath of the Jeep and let me drive off the lot knowing this. Fast forward to about September 2022 and the car all but started falling apart, not even having driven it for a full year. The muffler rusted out and needed to be welded back together (not covered under the warranty of course), the wheel sounded like it was going to fall off with every small bump or right hand turn, the power steering wheel hose then started leaking and had to be replaced. But I thought nothing of it and figured I might just have horrible luck. Well around December 2022/January 2023 our local shop decided to put my Jeep up on the lift & take a better look at the undercarriage/motor to see why it was making the worst noises when I drove and why it felt so unsafe to make turns. My local shop's mechanics found that the Jeep had brand new but mismatched front end parts & struts, 6 on the left side and 9 on the other. The shop asked me in a very confused way if I had any recent work done on the car & who might have done it because the parts are mismatched. I told them I hadn't had any work done and I don't know why they would be different? They told me it would be over a 4K job to do, and that I should probably reach out to the dealer who let me drive away with it like this. So of course we did, which J&M told us to have our local shop contact them to better understand the situation, followed by J&M telling us there's nothing they can do, they refuse to call the mechanics themselves, and it's past the warranty anyway so there's nothing they can do. At this point my Jeep has every check engine light on possible, has structural issues because of the mismatched parts and needs significant work that I have to pay out of pocket (because the warranty they sold me doesn't cover anything - what a scam). So, as of today, I now have a falling apart vehicle that J&M Auto let me drive off the lot knowing was not entirely safe and would eventually have these serious issues. And I'm left with a nice big bill, nothing but a total headache, and my family having to find a new dealership to do business with. Horrible experience from purchase to in a very brief amount of time, the vehicle being undrivable. Thanks for everything. read more

This will be long but PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING FROM J AND M!!!!!! This review was written with great care. I'd give negative stars if I could. I bought a 2013 Honda insight as my commuter car to drive to work. Was told by my salesman Vinny Petta (who's family I know and our kids go to school together) that they always thoroughly vet their cars before sale. Safety inspections, etc. LIES. Three days after their 30 day warranty expired the oil light came on while I was far from home. I pull over. Check the oil. THERES NONE REGISTERING ON THE DIPSTICK. I limp to the parts store and buy oil. I have to put in 2 and 1/2 quarts of oil in a car that only holds 3 and 1/2 quarts. I call my sales person who sends me to the service manager. This swine with a name tag has the BALLS to say to me "how do we know when you last changed the oil?" I had only put on 2000 miles since purchasing a month ago... of course it was them!! Their service record shows when they changed it I take it back. They change the oil (and think they're nice for doing so) and tell me Honda's standard is that as long as it isn't burning more than a quart of oil every 1000 miles then there's no problem (which is WRONG. THAT STANDARD IS FOR CARS THAT HOLD 5-7 quarts, mine hold three and a half) . I literally keep track of my mileage and oil consumption. It's over the unacceptable range. I'm essentially told "you didn't buy the extended warranty" so I guess I'm strapped to carry oil in the car and fill every time I get gas. Three months goes by and I'm carrying a 5 quart of oil in the car. Driving again, when the car goes into full failure. Engine lost all power, every dash light blinking. Car can barley even limp to safety. Had it towed and did my own vin look up and found I was sold a car with a known service bulletin of OVERCONSUMPTION OF OIL that was never corrected and had since expired. And the previous owner also complained about this. So what happened to my car? All that oil destroyed my catalytic converter, flooded the spark plugs, and broke the ground electrode which fell into the piston, scoring it and DESTROYING THE ENGINE. Called Brad-the general manager who pretended to care really well at first. Reminded me multiple times that "I didn't buy the extended warranty" but he would "try" to get Honda corporate to help me out. He strung me along for THREE MONTHS ignoring my texts and dodging my calls. mind you I've been paying a car note on a undrivable car this whole time. I bet you'll return this text, Brad. But don't bother. This is not the only place I'll be leaving my review. I'm sure they'll respond with a "caring and compassionate" looking response. Don't buy their lies. They don't care. They literally tell their customers to leave a good review to get a dunkin card. Didn't even TRY help me with my problem because the solution is an invasive engine tear down that costs them thousands. Please. PLEASE do not give them your business. read more

I was looking for a car to get me to and from work everyday so I went and purchased a jeep patriot that they had on their website. the jeep only had about 77,000 miles on it, the car didn't even last a full year before the transmission blew. I contacted the dealership and they pretty much told me I didn't purchase their "extended warranty" which by the way they never offered me when I paid to get the car. the car got looked at by a transmission specialist and he pretty much said it's definitely a transmission issue to where the whole transmission needs to be replaced. I got my car towed back today and the tow truck driver said that j&m is full of "scumbags" going on to explain to me that he knew friends and family whom all bought cars from there and all experienced transmission issues requiring them to pull more out of pocket. after hearing all that and seeing how they tried to snake around avoiding responsibility I've decided to share this. please don't fall for the same mistakes I did. they buy their car from the auctions and do the bare minimum to get the car on the market. please beware when purchasing from here.! read more

I was there on two different occasions recently. Each time they could not " FIND THE KEYS " to cars we wanted to look at. Maybe they honestly could not " FIND THE KEYS ". Only they know the truth. Either way it is not a good look when you are there to sell the cars being displayed. They will smile and be friendly but they are not being honest. I would have preferred the salesman today just tell me he wanted to go home. I would have understood. Instead, we were made to wait while he pretended to find these keys. So I just picked up my new car LR4 and I live in Jersey City. My sales guy was Eddie who was super helpful and responsive and he tried to make this out of state purchase very seamless. Everything was ready to go by the time I got to the dealership. May of their cars are out of warranty with some miles on them. But I think they priced it right in my opinion. If you are buying a car with no manufacture warranty and high miles on it, make sure you know what you are getting into. Do some research and at least know some common problems. read more

My husband bought a low mileage 2010 Jeep Liberty 2 years ago. Had it under 30 days and noticed the heat wasn't working. Turned out to be a heater core. Brought it back and they said they fixed it and he even has the paperwork stating that. This would be the third year with having to use heat and its not working again. Has a wet nasty smell inside the car under the front mats. The crappy extended warranty they suckered us into covers nothing. Not even the diagnosis. BEWARE of GWC Extended warranty. Worst $2k spent. The local mechanic gave me a break on the diagnosis but informed they never replaced heater core like they said. They put a "band aid" on it. I will never buy a car from there again.
