A cafe in the best sense; a simple room in an old brick building with tall exposed wood ceilings held up by chunky beams, framed by brick walls, big old windows and a smattering of basic wood tables on the floor. Feels a bit like a slice of old Portland. On a blustery late morning, the breakfast quesadilla caught my eye and I have no regrets; fluffy eggs folded into a tortilla and topped with cheese and avocado. Warm, filling and delish (those Jalapeños, tho, beware). The coffee is self serve, but there are good beans on offer, not the usual diner swill. Also very good is the service -- efficient but not robotic, doing it all without breaking a sweat or throwing off attitude. Bathrooms are decent too...but parking can be a bit tricky

We were staying at the Jupiter Next for the weekend and really needed breakfast. Yelp came through once again, THANKS YELPER'S!! J&M popped up, great reviews!! It lived up to the reviews. Really great breakfast. Food delicious. SERVICE, excellent!!! All the servers were very friendly. The place is exceptionally clean. The prices are AMAZINGLY reasonable!!!

I was in town visiting and my boy said this place down the street was fire.. he wasn't lying! I was low key against that giner butter...then i had it and there wasn't enough!! Pure genius. The Sammy was also fire! The home fries couldn't have been a little more crispy for my personal taste but overall very good!! Top tier!!

Had a lovely breakfast here. Serve yourself coffee (pretty good!) and water, they also offer speciality coffee drinks and cocktails. I really enjoyed my Mediterranean scramble -- the pesto and sundried tomatoes really made it special. Good bread for the toast. Potatoes looked better than they were, I think they are just under seasoned. Would have no issue returning to this pleasant little spot to try more of the menu!

This quaint little breakfast spot was a hidden gem. The food was delicious and seasoned well. The bacon thick and crispy. With plant based and vegan option. I had the Mediterranean and I can't wait to go back for another round. My partner in foodie adventures had the 2 egg breakfast. The chai latte was perfection, not two sweet and not to spice. The sever and owner is so sweet. She even share the type of jam and where to get it.

Previous reviews did not mislead; little to no wait to be seated. Friendly service and the vibe is light and inviting. Bloody Mary's were delicious and our breakfasts orders filled and satisfied; breakfast Sammy, biscuits and gravy and a side of turkey sausage. Did not disappoint.

Loved how they use coffee in their ice cubes instead of water! Everyone loved their meals. I got the banana bread which was super delicious. Loved the ambiance and the service was good, but if you are in a rush don't go here, it's a little slow.

I just recently dropped in for breakfast after a long while. It's amazing how little J&M has changed. And that's a good thing. When I first moved to Portland in 2000 I lived just a few blocks away. Consequently I had lots and lots of breakfasts here. Here's what's great about J&M: -It's not super pretentious, which, for a breakfast joint in Portland, Oregon, is saying something. Weekend brunch is high religion in this town. This place is casual and not trying to wow the pants off of you. -They have self-serve coffee, with mugs and carafes out in the open. This is great. When you arrrive, if there is a line, you can leave your name on the list and then go grab yourself a coffee before you've even been seated or waited on. This is brilliant. -The food is all decent. Not overly fancypants, but solid breakfast stuff. -Wait staff is super friendly.

While I was in Portland recently I met up with a couple of friends for breakfast at this quaint cafe in a really cool old building. The building was incredible! I don't know what it used to be, but why the exposed brick walls and ginormous paned windows I felt like I was dining back in time. For food, I opted for their breakfast burrito with added avocado. My friends got the French toast and the waffle. While everything was tasty, I gotta say the star of the show were the crispy homestyle potatoes that accompanied my burrito. Their prices were a little steep here, though that seems to be par for the course these days. Service was friendly and fast, too. And of course, they had great coffee!

Super welcoming and accommodating waitress. Cool spot and really tasty food! Absolutely killer breakfast burrito!

No wait on a Saturday at 12:30pm. We easily found street parking. The tofu scramble and breakfast sandwich come with perfectly crispy potatoes. I asked for no bacon with my sandwich which was subbed for avocado. The crispy grits were delicious. Service was friendly. The prices were reasonable. The bathroom requires a key (located near the water station) to enter.

Fantastic ambience! Loved by locals and run by a fantastic waitress. This was recommended by our hostel and the food was hearty and perfectly balanced. Loved sampling the local coffee too! Highly recommend

Immaculate atmosphere and the exact sort of thing we were looking for for breakfast. We didn't get her name but saw on the receipt her name might have been Davi, she was such a bundle of light and life, so attentive and kind! She immediately gave us wonderful recommendations which we all adored. The table ordered praline bacon to share (do yourself a favor and get this), one ordered the praline bacon waffle, another ordered the bananas foster waffle, and I got the seasonal vegetable hash. We were all in HEAVEN with what we ordered. From the first bite to the last it we were all absolutely stunned by how delicious and well made everything was. I savored every bite as did my compatriots. One gal ordered a couple things to go for her family (huevos rancheros for the hubby and cinnamon rolls for her kiddos) and our waitress Davi recommended they bring out the cinnamon rolls unfired so that she could pop them in the oven when she got home after a short drive. It was such good attention to detail that felt like such a friendly offer. Absolute superstars, the lot of you. Next time I'm back in Portland I'm absolutely spoiling some friends here with what I can only describe as a transcendent experience.

I know they get busy on weekends but we had no problem making a reservation and being seated promptly indoors. Their indoor space can get quite loud. They do have a covered side patio as well. We ordered some of their classic dishes: chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, banana foster French toast. Everything was absolutely delicious. I did feel some sticker shock at the prices ($17-24 ish) but the portions are quite large. They do have a kids menu as well as a full bar. Customer service was excellent, with a seemingly genuinely friendly server. Though they were busy, it was easy to get assistance as needed. The decor is wonderfully charming. Overall, Screen Door might not be an every-weekend kind of thing, but for an out-of-town visitor, a special occasion, or craving you just can't shake - it's absolutely worth the stop.

They've certainly topped the muscle game. Highly recommend Olympic Provisions. I will gladly vouch that the negative reviews are from the haters, just to hate. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll.
