I rarely if ever write reviews of restaurants, but I feel that the quality of my salad today should be brought to someone's attention. I had the roasted sweet potato salad. The spinach was spoiled to the point of being slimy -I haven't had spinach like that except for the stuff that I forgot about in the bottom of my my vegetable drawer. Especially galling to find this in Portland, where fresh produce should be easy to source and to read that your "ingredients...are the best." The over abundant caramelized onions were tasteless and added nothing to the salad except to create a gloppy sort of mess. Sweet potato bits were too small and they too were fairly tasteless. All in all, very disappointing. I was surprised at the glowing 5-star reviews online, but most folks were rating the breakfast menu. Maybe that's where I went wrong. The avocado toast came with mashed avocado that tasted and smelled like it had been sitting on the counter for a day or two after mashing, or maybe just a really bad avocado. The green smoothie had a nice flavor, but many chunks of orange peel that didn't get blended. The biscuits and gravy were okay, but not very tasty. Our receipt showed a discount, maybe because one of us informed the waitstaff that the avocado was inedible, but the discount was weird because there was no acknowledgment or apology or explanation. I am not sure where all the positive reviews are coming from, but I suspect paid reviewers or AI because our experience was so different from our expectation based on the reviews. read more

Unfortunately they had a printer error and our order got lost so took a long time to get food but they were very kind and comped our food for the trouble/wait. The food was amazing! A cute diner. Service was relatively prompt, and we got multiple coffee refills. I got the chorizo burrito. It was alright. At a glance, it looks like 50% hash brown, but the texture was fine. The meat itself had a nice flavor as well. I also like how the wrap was pressed a bit for extra texture/unami. Overall, not as dry as it looks. This is also helped by the.....green sauce they provided. I'm just gonna call it green sauce because it's way too mild for my buds and hardly tastes like anything. If you are looking for a cozy, homie breakfast spot this is the place to go. This is truly a hidden gem to non locals (or even to locals). Although we have never been here before, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and effortlessly homey. Never a bad experience. I used to live coming alone - I found this place mid-divorce proceedings 9 years ago. Now it's a favorite of my younger son's too. I dream about the porridge, but often get their breakfast egg sandwich, which fits with my love of a traditional, unvarnished, middle-of-Maine-diner love. My younger loves the French toast - so thick, we asked for a steak knife to curb through it! People helping us are always exceptional. Super helpful. This last time our waiter had a coffee drink so delicious I had to ask - they made me one like it - iced latte with lavender syrup. Walking by Daily Feast on my way to the bus stop every morning is pure delight and torture all in one . It always smells so good and I *know* that they throw down some mean brunch. I had to come back this weekend and treat myself finally after passing by so often just dying for a bite. I asked for a dirty chai with a half shot of espresso and the barista Cameron really made the perfect beverage. She was friendly, efficient, and truly an expert in making a perfectly frothy chai latte, it was so good I had to take another home. I also enjoyed speaking with Omar who was very friendly and happy to hear that the chefs in back did a tremendous job on not only the French Toast but what I think might be the best prepared over medium eggs in the sw downtown brunch scene. We've driven past this place a few times while in Portland. Seeing it like a retro diner, we decided to check it out. Small booths, and tables, but a large amount of counter seating, which is part of its charm. Servers were very nice, and the service was quick. They were really attentive to us immediately upon entering and were really friendly throughout the entire experience! The music they were playing had my group in a great mood and didn't even feel time pass until our food got to the table. The food here is a ten. This is one of the best meals I had in Portland. The vibe though is very rushed and kind of pushy. It's very small in there and the wait was long & they will not seat you if you have a party until everyone is there. I was alone but the back and forth between the employees and customers about this was a lot. The host also rolled her eyes to a coworker about a woman with a service dog & did finger quotes around "service dog" when telling her coworker about it. When I finished my meal I ordered a lyft to get me & I was told to please get up and wait outside which I found really abrasive. If you pay to eat somewhere you should be able to sit for a few moments after you pay to digest and get ready to leave. *This review is for June 2025. I don't know why it didn't post. I just found it (empty) so I have rewritten it as best as possible from memory. Bottom line, I was more than satisfied and recommend The Daily Feast 100%. I was in town for my father's funeral. Staying in a downtown hotel, I wanted comfort and variety instead of the same old "complimentary breakfast". I asked the desk clerk for suggestions, and he offered two options. I decided to try The Daily Feast first, and I never bothered with the other place. As I entered I was cheerfully greeted and directed to a spot at the counter. There is a winding counter and several booths. I could smell the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen. It felt cozy and welcoming. Coffee was delivered and the special was enthusiasticly explained. I opted to try the Chilaquiles. Amazing! Spicy sauce, fresh tortillas, hot perfectly cooked eggs, yummy. I had a different dish every morning and they could ALL easily be my favorite. I went here for breakfast every day of my stay. My last day I was dressed up for my father's funeral. My server (who's name has now escaped me a year later) asked about my change of attire. I told him where I was going after breakfast. He immediately held up his arms and offered a warm hug. I came for brunch a couple weeks ago. It's a small hole in the wall diner, that was about 10-15 minutes away from my hotel. Not sure if it's female owned but it was almost completely staffed by young women. They sat me right at the bar. It was quite cramped.
