After what I thought was an interestingly long wait (5-6 mins) when we walked in the door, we were finally seated and ended up having a really great breakfast here this morning. Our server, Sara, was absolutely delightful; one of the best servers I've had anywhere at any time. The food came out quickly, and it was a very ample portion of vegetable scramble that came with red potatoes and wheat toast. Our coffees and lattes were very good. Very clean and orderly restaurant.
I walked by here in afternoon and it was packed so I came back the next morning with my friends for breakfast. It was packed, and the host told us it was 15 minutes. We came back promptly since phone never rang but they moved us over to the seated line. Upon seating their complimentary beignets were super good. I also thought their corned beef hash was a must order. I ordered their biscuit and gravy and also their poutine which had the same identical sauce/gravy. (I would probably skip these two dishes tho) One of my friends had the apple frittwhich which is a play on sweet and salty. It tasted fine but I was expecting more. I really dig how superb the service was here considering how many tables this place had. I also wanted to applaud the manager on duty that morning to offer a homeless man coffee / food / emergency services when he was saying his head hurts. She handled it professionally and ironically we saw that same homeless man an hour later walking down the same street. (He never asked for any of the services also) Overall, we had an enjoyable breakfast in a bustling area closest to downtown. Reasonable prices and terrific service makes this a spot i would come back in a heartbeat.
Wished I had enjoyed this place more. Maybe I got the wrong dish and another would have been better. I got the short rib eggs benedict, and it was quite heavy and one-dimensional. It would have been better with spinach, maybe onions or bell peppers in the potatoes, anything to cut through the richness. Unfortunately, the flavor profile was lacking.

The food was good, but needed a bit more flavor. I had the Salmon Benedict with cheesy hash browns. I didn't realize that corn flakes would also be included with the cheesy hash browns. The restaurant was crazy loud and while the service started out good, Georgina, our server stopped coming by after a while. I had to ask someone to get her so we could pay and leave. I may try to visit again on a less busy day.

They serve breakfast all day, which was exactly what we needed. I ordered the pancakes and they were huge. My friend had one of the breakfast sandwiches with cheesy hashbrowns on the side. The food was tasty and the service was friendly. It was a great meal to start off our vacation.

So many great dishes. From classic bacon and eggs to some wilder options, there was something for everyone. It was all great! Great food, great service!
We just dined at Cheryl's, and Georgia was our waitress, she was absolutely AUHMAZING! This was our first visit, and it did not disappoint. The space is cozy and inviting, with an open kitchen right in the center as you walk up the slight incline from the entrance. There's a charming little café area to the right and restaurant seating to the left. The large windows overlooking the city from this beautiful old building create the perfect atmosphere, especially on a cold, rainy day. We were greeted with fresh, hot beignets to start, which was such a treat. My husband enjoyed the Mexican Mocha, and I had the London Fog, both were perfect for warming up on a chilly morning. We couldn't decide what to order, so we split the Huevos Rancheros, and wow... it was AUHMAZING too! It was loaded with zucchini, broccoli, potatoes, carrots, spinach, and caramelized onions. We added linguiça sausage, which took it over the top. Every bite was delicious. To make the experience even better, Georgia brought us a sample of the Portuguese Fried Rice, which was incredibly thoughtful and gave us another reason to come back and try more of the menu. By the end of our meal, our bellies were full, we were warm and cozy from our drinks, and we were already talking about our next visit. So glad we found this gem thanks to Yelp. We'll definitely be back! Thank you, Georgia, for making our first visit such a memorable one!
I got the migas and I enjoyed my scramble with the tortilla but wished it came with more than two as I felt like I had to ration it. eggs were fluffy and everything was well seasoned. loved the chorizo they used. the complementary beignets were delicious but not what I was expecting for a beignet. they were moist and fluffy on the inside and not too sweet.
We had a reservation for 11 am on Saturday morning, but arrived at 10:40. There was no waiting and we were immediately seated at a lovely table near the window. The restaurant is really cute and feels a bit trendy. The staff were very sweet and offered us the most amazing complimentary beignets. The food came quickly and was delicious! When we left, there was a line out the door, so I recommend going early!!
Cheryl's catered my husband's and my wedding reception and did a great job. But we had never tried their brick and mortar restaurant. We recently took a staycation in downtown Portland and decided to have brunch there. At 1030 on a Saturday morning, we were still able to get a table. It was crowded, but the noise level was do-able. Service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. All of the waitstaff seemed very relaxed, which I thought was great. They bring beignets to every table as a starter. They are light, airy and not too sweet. For breakfast, I had the Ed's scramble, which had a ton of veggies in it, but also cheese. It was served with a ranchero sauce and sour cream. This was very, very good. My husband had the chili and cheese omelet, he said it was great and it looked really good. This is an excellent dining spot that has been in Portland for years. I can see why.

Bright space with lots of windows, tall ceilings and seasonal decor... tried the Green Omelet & Huevos Rancheros. If you get an omelette, I recommend try it with the potatoes. They have a nice seasoning that actually complements the Omelet. First few bites of the omelette were a little bland till got the part with the feta in it. Their coffee is a local coffee. The server did a great job of keeping the coffee topped off. Though the coffee comes with sugar and cream it's tastier on its own. The complementary beignets were delicious. Airy and not overly sweet.
Been here a few times now- amazing service and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of seating and even tho it's packed, I'm able to get a table quickly. Staff is amazing and very friendly. Portuguese fried rice is recommended for a reason. It's very savory and it's the spot, especially when you add the fried egg. I've had bacon wrapped dates which were HELLA GOOD. Drinks are fire too, well crafted and they have quality mimosas. I had the cinnamon and it is ONE OF BEST I've ever had. When I'm in the area & they're open, I will stop by just to get one lol. It's famous for a reason. The quality is amazing and it not gimmicky. Just good comfort food that will hit the spot.
Cheryl's is FUN. Packed, a little chaotic, and somehow that's part of the charm. We got routed through the kitchen like we were in a behind-the-scenes tour and popped out into a whole other dining area in the back... I was like wait, there's more?? They go all in on decor too, think fall meets Halloween explosion and I was fully here for it. Super vegan friendly with a separate menu for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options which made ordering easy. Service was AAAAMAZING across the board, every single person was on it. We had a small food mishap, mentioned it, and BAM the manager appeared, apologized, and fixed it immediately. I ordered the vegan steak and yep, I'd get it again. Portions are big enough to share... or not, no judgment. read more

Visiting over Labor Day Weekend for brunch with some friends and we are so glad we made a quick stop over at Cheryl's! To our surprise, we were welcomed by Miss Cheryl herself. She was working alongside the staff clearing tables, and walking guests inside all morning! The staff were more than accommodating and the service was remarkable. It felt as though everyone was genuinely happy to help. Food was fantastic and the cinnamon rolls are a MUST. Our waiter (I forgot his name), had a great attitude despite the many moving parts. One of Downtown Portland's better breakfast spots as listed in a local publication, it didn't disappoint. The build your own omelette was wonderful.. and the latte to accompany was perfect. They have some unique options which seem to be very popular.. but the beignets before your meal arrives is reason enough to go! Waitstaff is plentiful and very nice, I really enjoyed this large cafe style restaurant, and the outdoor seating option was a plus. read more

A very quaint spot in the heart of downtown Portland. Went on a Sunday and had very little wait . There is the main dining room and it appears they expanded to next door. When you first sit down you are greeted with warm beignets and a friendly waitress. The selections were hard to choose from just one item and from the looks of other tables the portions were very generous so I ordered a half portion which let me try a few things. read more

We were visiting Portland and looking for a place to eat, and Cheryl's on 12th was on my itinerary, so we decided to check it out. The wait wasn't nearly as long as described, which was nice--probably helped that we were only a party of two. That said, once seated, it felt a bit uncomfortable being placed in the middle of a very crowded dining room, especially with tables packed closely together. The food came out quickly, and the coffee was great, which we appreciated since we were short on time. Overall, though, the experience felt a little overhyped for a breakfast spot. It wasn't bad by any means, but there are probably other places we would try next time. Since it was nearby and convenient, it worked for this trip--but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more
Sheesh, this place is busy, and understandably so. We waited approx 15 minutes on a Sunday morning, which wasn't too bad. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. While I did end up with crab cartilage in my crab benedict, and egg shell as well, it was addressed. I appreciate the customer service and acknowledgment on Cheryl's part for this. It was made right and not brushed under the rug. I enjoyed the food otherwise! I didn't care for the free beignets, but liked everything else. While I didn't get a chance to come back while visiting, next time I would still dine here, as the food was delicious and the customer service is wonderful. read more
Visiting Portland and found this place on yelp for breakfast. Made a reservation and glad I did, this place was very busy when we came around 10am. The servers were attentive and very kind. Even got complimentary beignets. We got a split mimosa for $22 instead of $12.50 each glass. Came with a cute bottle and a small oj. The fried rice was so yummy and the crab benedict was probably the best crab benny i've had ever. It was real Dungeness crab was and they did not skimp. potatoes were alright but the benny was so yummy and the asparagus added a nice green crunchy layer. would love to go back! read more

Fun brunch spot we stumbled upon during our trip to Portland! The beignets were so light and delicious--truly the cherry on top of an already amazing experience. The service was fantastic: attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful with suggestions on other places to check out around the city. Flavor (5/5): They started the table off with free beignets which were fluffy and warm! I got their Portuguese fried rice which was a different kind than what I'm used to but very delicious! I don't usually have avocado on my fried rice but for some reason it works. The Portuguese sausage is sweet with the savory rice it was definitely filling. Instagram Worthy (4/5): Cute restaurant with tables that felt like a french cafe. Their plating for their food is very simple, nothing fancy. Service (4/5): Got our coffee order wrong but they did give our birthday girl a free birthday dessert even for breakfast which was such a sweet touch! Takeaways: Solid breakfast spot for the area we were shopping in. read more

Cheryl's on 12th is amazingly delicious! So cute! Such great, friendly and attentive staff, how could we ask for more? We had a couple Bloody Marys, a fig and feta cheese sandwich, and a vegan wrap. It was all super delicious, and Cheryl's on 12th is a must do every time we're in town. read more

We went for Sunday brunch, and despite it being so busy, they got us in pretty quickly, and the service was good too. The Santa Fe pasta was hot, creamy, and filling. The bread was a little difficult. The Portuguese fried rice had a good mix of veggies, and the sausage made it complete. I would recommend the egg option for more flavor. The inside is nice, and I love that it was dressed up for Easter. read more
Cheryl's on 12th is in a busy part of town that really only allows for street parking other than possible parking garages in the area so it did take a few minutes of driving around to be able to find a parking spot. The place was pretty crowded so I opted to sit at the breakfast bar towards the back and am really glad I did. I got to have breakfast with a show and got food gifts to try out while I waited. One thing I have never considered for breakfast (other than maybe leftovers) would be fried rice but the kitchen staff offered me a small place of their Portuguese Fried Rice to try out. Pretty good! Along with that I got a sweet treat of a donut hole of some kind and I certainly wasn't complaining about that. I ordered my go-to breakfast to try at new place of their one biscuit & sausage gravy and had two eggs added to the top. I love that they offer a one biscuit option as two are always too much for me. I ordered a mimosa, which they offered different flavors for other than the usual so I decided to try the Lavender, they were kind enough to also bring my orange juice juuuuuuuust in case I wasn't feeling the Lavender. I gotta say, all the staff gave me exceptional service and made my breakfast wonderful. read more
Cheryl's on 12th is a great brunch/lunch spot right smack in buzzing downtown Portland. You can see the crowd waiting outside--and there are small outside tables along the perimeter two-walls of the restaurant. The indoor dining area features high ceilings and cleverly arranged 'Tetris-like' tables that maximize seating space We opted for in-door dining, so waited for another 10 minutes, during late 1:30PM lunchtime crowd. The moment we walked in, we were cheerfully greeted and we saw the bustle of the café set the tone for a delightful meal. The place seems like an organized busyness. :)) For our starters, we got lattes but I'd opted for the seasonal drink - tiramisu latte!! I sort of got "drinker regret" when I saw the table, within arm reach, ordered and had the mimosas--something lavender and guava, as well! Despite being busy (as this place often is!), our server was attentive and friendly, she even made a couple menu -- Portuguese Fried Rice and Country Fried Steak --both very generous portions, hearty and delicious. My fried rices plate comes with a slice of avocado so tops off nicely!!! The meal is heavenly! We literally rolled out of the restaurant so glad we walked into town. :)) I'm going to bookmark this place so I can return to try other menu items!!! read more
This is one of the few places I recommend to everyone I know who visits Portland. The atmosphere is always fantastic. It buzz's in Cheryl's in the best way. I'm always greeted immediately upon arrival with a smile. This particular trip I was sat in a back room that is new to me, but was fine. I'd like the ambiance to match the front room a bit more but it seemed new so maybe that's the plan. Our service was great. Friendly and fast. The food is so fantastic. I have my go tos but I have tried several menu item and they are all great! Don't sleep on the cinnamon rolls (one of the best in town) and the Portuguese fried rice for the table is a must order every time! read more
Loved everything we ordered Beignets are super airy and light. I think it's much better than the cafe du monde style ones Portuguese fried rice is like an interesting combination of Chinese fried rice and Portuguese sausage. Still works. Lots of flavor. Dined in for brunch on Saturday just before noon. Got the Portuguese fried rice, Salmon eggs benedict, matcha late and strawberry lemonade. If I were to average the taste of the dishes I got out of 10, I would rate it a 7.8/10. The Portuguese Fried rice was definitely the better tasting dish. Good umami flavors, eggs were nice and fluffy, and the Portuguese sausage had a nice slight smoky, savory and hint of sourness flavor. For $2, they offer an egg as an add on which in my opinion didn't feel justified. This dish is $20 in total if you add the egg. The eggs Benedict was just okay. The hollandaise sauce I felt was a bit lacking in flavor. The salmon had a tab bit fishiness taste to it but overall was still good. The cheesy potatoes were a bit of a surprise for me as it was topped with corn flakes which was something I had never experienced before. The potatoes were actually my favorite thing with this dish as they were seasoned well. No complaints on the matcha late or strawberry lemonade. These were solid overall and had strong matcha flavor which wasn't saturated with some sort of sweetener. You could truly appreciate the matcha flavor. The same goes with the lemonade as well. Not filled with a bunch of sugar. Staff were friendly and quick with the service. The ambience of the restaurant was great as well. The large windows allow for plenty of sunlight and good views of Downtown Portland. In total, everything was about $60. Was it worth it? Debatable in my opinion. Cheryl's is one of Portlands most buzzed brunch spot in Portland so it's worth to at least experience once. read more

Googled breakfast spots in downtown Portland and this gem of a restaurant popped up! From the greeting I received when I walked in to the delicious food I ate made this a place I would recommend and return to! I even appreciated the reprimand for brining my Starbucks cup in there when they have the best coffee. Great indoor/outdoor seating! It was a pleasure to be there. read more
We found this amazing breakfast spot blocks from our hotel. It didn't disappoint we were seated right away and given beignets as a hospitality gesture that were amazing. The hospitality and prompt service were amazing, the decor and everything was perfect. Definitely if you need a breakfast spot please see this place. read more
