    Front of restaurant so pretty
    Jenn K.

A very quaint spot in the heart of downtown Portland. Went on a Sunday and had very little wait . There is the main dining room and it appears they expanded to next door. When you first sit down you are greeted with warm beignets and a friendly waitress. The selections were hard to choose from just one item and from the looks of other tables the portions were very generous so I ordered a half portion which let me try a few things.

My visiting parents (omnivores) & I (vegan) went to Cheryl's on 12th today for a Father's Day brunch. As an extremely popular & seemingly always busy restaurant, I want to start by saying how excellent their coordination & overall service was. I've been to Mother's Bistro & Bar, Jam on Hawthorne, Tin Shed, etc. & Cheryl's on 12th has the smoothest operation of Portland's quintessential brunch favorites that I've experienced. Our server August was unbelievably kind & pleasant, not to mention efficient & excellently versed on the menu. Upon learning I am a vegan, he brought over a special condensed menu that points out all items that can be ordered gluten free, vegetarian, &/or vegan. I opted for the Vegan Scramble & appreciated an omnivorous restuarant offering multiple options for both breakfast/brunch & lunch. I appreciated the diversity of the vegetables in my scramble & that it wasn't excessively oily. I will say I found the ranchero sauce to be on the bland side, but I was happy with my meal overall & have plenty of leftovers from a dish that was under $18. The owner herself stopped by when she noticed I needed a to-go box, which was also a very nice touch. Keep it up, Cheryl's! You're clearly loved for a variety of good reasons.

Visiting Portland and found this place on yelp for breakfast. Made a reservation and glad I did, this place was very busy when we came around 10am. The servers were attentive and very kind. Even got complimentary beignets. We got a split mimosa for $22 instead of $12.50 each glass. Came with a cute bottle and a small oj. The fried rice was so yummy and the crab benedict was probably the best crab benny i've had ever. It was real Dungeness crab was and they did not skimp. potatoes were alright but the benny was so yummy and the asparagus added a nice green crunchy layer. would love to go back!

Bright space with lots of windows, tall ceilings and seasonal decor... tried the Green Omelet & Huevos Rancheros. If you get an omelette, I recommend try it with the potatoes. They have a nice seasoning that actually complements the Omelet. First few bites of the omelette were a little bland till got the part with the feta in it. Their coffee is a local coffee. The server did a great job of keeping the coffee topped off. Though the coffee comes with sugar and cream it's tastier on its own. The complementary beignets were delicious. Airy and not overly sweet.

Been here a few times now- amazing service and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of seating and even tho it's packed, I'm able to get a table quickly. Staff is amazing and very friendly. Portuguese fried rice is recommended for a reason. It's very savory and it's the spot, especially when you add the fried egg. I've had bacon wrapped dates which were HELLA GOOD. Drinks are fire too, well crafted and they have quality mimosas. I had the cinnamon and it is ONE OF BEST I've ever had. When I'm in the area & they're open, I will stop by just to get one lol. It's famous for a reason. The quality is amazing and it not gimmicky. Just good comfort food that will hit the spot.

Fantastic brunch spot. I love that they have linguica!! I did the eggs benedict with cornflake topped hash browns and subbed in linguica which was phenomenal, the linguica fried rice was also great. I also did the special iced tiramisu latte which was fantastic. Can't wait to come back!

We went for Sunday brunch, and despite it being so busy, they got us in pretty quickly, and the service was good too. The Santa Fe pasta was hot, creamy, and filling. The bread was a little difficult. The Portuguese fried rice had a good mix of veggies, and the sausage made it complete. I would recommend the egg option for more flavor. The inside is nice, and I love that it was dressed up for Easter.

Made a reservation the day before for a large party. We were seated, ordered drinks and our food came out quickly and piping hot!

We were visiting Portland and looking for a place to eat, and Cheryl's on 12th was on my itinerary, so we decided to check it out. The wait wasn't nearly as long as described, which was nice--probably helped that we were only a party of two. That said, once seated, it felt a bit uncomfortable being placed in the middle of a very crowded dining room, especially with tables packed closely together. The food came out quickly, and the coffee was great, which we appreciated since we were short on time. Overall, though, the experience felt a little overhyped for a breakfast spot. It wasn't bad by any means, but there are probably other places we would try next time. Since it was nearby and convenient, it worked for this trip--but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Sheesh, this place is busy, and understandably so. We waited approx 15 minutes on a Sunday morning, which wasn't too bad. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. While I did end up with crab cartilage in my crab benedict, and egg shell as well, it was addressed. I appreciate the customer service and acknowledgment on Cheryl's part for this. It was made right and not brushed under the rug. I enjoyed the food otherwise! I didn't care for the free beignets, but liked everything else. While I didn't get a chance to come back while visiting, next time I would still dine here, as the food was delicious and the customer service is wonderful.

Great breakfast place! Our server was very friendly and helpful with the menu items. It's so nice that we got a sample of the Portuguese Fried rice and they bring warm beignets. The London fog latte was fragrant and delicious, the Portuguese Fried rice was flavorful, and the French toast with blueberries and lemon was decadent (didn't even need maple syrup).

I had the biscuit with gravy. I never had such a fluffy and light biscuit! It was really good. The gravy could've had more flavor and a little chives for color or something would make it look more appealing. It looks kinda gross in the picture, but the flavor is good.

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!

Everything we ordered was gorgeous and whimsical in presentation, but of course that would mean little without the flavors to back it all up, which it had in spades. The Thai steak tartare tostadas were incredibly balanced, with brightness and herbaceous notes from the vegetables, herbs, and sauce, great punch from the Thai spices, richness from the tartare, and a nice snap and slight nuttiness from the tapioca crisps cradling everything underneath. The foie gras dumplings were simply divine. I expected them to be rich and dense, but they were like little pillows, with a savory filling and a perfect balance of smoked leek broth, crispy fried leeks, and a caramelized shallot jam that ended up being the surprise star of the dish for me. Then came the main event, the Duck Stack, which I can only describe as a McGriddle on steroids (in the best possible way!). Somehow it all worked beautifully, with the rich duck gravy, fluffy pancakes drenched in syrup, spiced onions, and a fried duck egg tying everything together in perfect harmony. It was one of those dishes that sounds wild on paper but is totally brilliant on the plate and in your mouth. The garlic fries were spicy in the best way, perfectly crisp, and served steaming hot. The Duck Stack (pancakes covered with duck gravy, onions, and a duck egg) sounded a bit odd to me (and probably many others). When I asked the server if it was good, they told me that people travel to the restaurant specifically for that dish. I'm glad I tried it. Again, very unique with a well balanced spice profile paired with the delicious undertones of a hot pancake. I know I would have never thought of that, doesn't sound like it should work, but....it worked! Service was great, atmosphere was a bit loud with a band playing next door, it was a bit overwhelming, plus a random dude walked into the restaurant and a server lit his joint for him as a courtesy(?)...stunk the place up for a few minutes, but as I thought about it, I decided that was about the most "Portland" thing I had seen all week on my trip :) I'll be going back for sure, I would love to taste through that entire menu. Did I mention the Foie Gras Dumplings? I never had anything like them in my life. That's a dish I would definitely travel back to Portland for.

I wanted to move, but hubby won't! No matter how much I begged, he ain't movin'. Then, I said: 'the music here is too loud.' His answer? 'There's always something!' So I stayed. I checked out the Patio. It might work, for the group. At least, there's one of us, who love alcohol. That may give them a reason to come. (She's driving the rest of the group). Since we are heading to an event, not far from here, we didn't have much time to take leftovers home, we didn't have a cooler, it's almost 80 degrees out, so we decided to eat something we could share. We picked the BBQ COHO Salmon Sandwich. Seared Coho salmon glazed with Bourbon BBQ sauce topped with baby Aragula and pickled red onions on a Portland French toasted potato bun. There's a $2 discount recess during happy hour (3-5pm). We were there at that time. (Is that the reason WHY the music were soo loud?) It was served with hand-cut fries. Both were just the perfect taste (delicious), and size for both of us. But, for some reason, I was still tempted to have something else. We looked at the desert menu, and decided on the Peach Crumble. Food taste so much better, when shared! Enough said. (We waited so long for this one, that we almost didn't made it to our event! We were enjoying our time here, that by the time we got to our car, we were rushing, and made it two minutes later we would have been late!) Negative: Music is too loud! Restroom could be improved.
