It's either the dealer, or a shop that has to break out the manuals to figure out how to repair the problem. That's just a roll of the dice for workmanship and price. Thank goodness South Bay Diesels opened their doors. They specialize in diesel pickups. I had to take my F-250 in after I found metal in the water separator filter. Yes, the dreaded CP4 fuel pump failure, and I knew it was going to cost me a pretty penny. Throughout the entire process Leo kept me updated as to what was going on. He clearly explained the what's, how's, and whys. Was it an overnight fix? No, it took a few weeks because the shop made sure to go through my entire fuel system to determine what I needed vs did not, then order the parts. In the end, Leo saved me a few thousand dollars by not performing repairs or installing items that were not needed. On top of all this, Leo made sure to source the best parts for the repairs backed with warranties. Not cheap foreign knockoff products. I was more than happy when I got my truck back as it now runs better than ever with an aftermarket fuel pump install. About 2 weeks after I got my truck back Leo called me out of the blue. He called to let me know Ford may have a program to help offset the costs associated with the fuel pump repair. That's customer service! Fixing a CP4 pump failure is not a cheap affair no matter who does the work, but if it needs to be done, or any other diesel pickup related repairs for that matter, call them up and take it to South Bay Diesels. You will not be disappointed. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough. They're tops on all fronts as far as I'm concerned. I'll definitely be back for that inevitable service or fix.
