Stopped in for the first time on a friend's recommendation because we figured most places would be packed on Mother's Day. This place was not empty but not busy either, which had me a little confused. I was also confused at the overall rating, based on my experience. First, I'll get the negative out of the way: the AC was busted, but while it was warm in there it wasn't unbearable. The AC in the men's bathroom was working though. The service was friendly and not too slow. The restaurant otherwise was clean and pleasant aesthetic, with plenty of TV's throughout to check out sports ball. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is for the food. I got the Carolina burger and it was really enjoyable! The patty was cooked and seasoned nicely, and they added a nice portion of toppings, from the slaw to the delicious chili, and the fries were crispy and salty. Great bun on the burger too topped off an excellent meal. Only caveat there is I ordered potato salad and not fries, but I wasn't too upset with what I got. The server offered to swap out my fries for potato salad, which I declined (really, she should've just brought the potato salad in addition, but it's okay). I would come back, especially if they fix the air. read more

J Butler's was a fun spot to grab a late Wednesday night dinner. One of the few local Kernersville spots open past 10pm. The menu is being updated but it seems they focus on doing a few things great instead of dabbling in a multitude of dishes. It was late so it wasn't very crowded. It would be a great place to watch a game and grab drinks. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. She made certain we were well taken care of. My burger was really good and my fries we nice and hot! My dessert was ok they only offer the brownie with ice cream so I was expecting it to be spectacular but it was just regular, I was also tired so that could have attributed to my underwhelmed dessert experience. First time back in years. We wanted to give it another chance. They only had 2 busy tables. The menus were dirty and limited but this may be the norm for a sports bar. The food was super mediocre. Iceberg lettuce was the main ingredient in my salad with a few pieces of grilled chicken. The Alfredo sauce in the chicken Alfredo was bland in the chicken Alfredo dish. The service was good. They were nice enough. We really wanted to give it another shot but unfortunately I think we are done. read more

I feel like they might have declined a bit, but I won't let that affect my review. Strictly on my dinner last night: Pros: Service was great, waitress was sweet and attentive. Food wasn't bad and I can't complain about the portions, so that's a plus! Drinks and pricing were pretty on par. Chicken club sandwich was good, a slightly bigger filet would've been nice. Chicken caesar salad was a nice portion but they forgot the Cajun seasoning. Cons: Place was a little dirty when we walked in. My seat was dirty and there was a used toothpick on the table. J Butlers is the local Gator bar, so of course I have to support local fans. This place only gets 3 stars because the experience can be a hit or a miss. Let me explain: Some days they have all the beer on draft and some days you are lucky if they have one that you want. Some days the kids chicken tenders are perfect and other days they can be overcooked. I get that you don't want to serve raw chicken to a kid, but my kid won't eat over fried chicken. The burgers have always been consistent which is good. The staff are also friendly and for the most part prompt... although there has been an occasion when we came in and wondered if everyone left on strike or a smoke break. Should always have at least 1 employee visible. The wings have always been a hit as well! Good flavors. The ambience is what you'd expect of a sports bar. read more

Nasty. Waited 40 min to get cold greasy food. My burger was so greasy I couldn't eat it. One of my kids got sick in the bathroom before we left and the other one started throwing up as soon as we got in the parking lot. The food was soooo bad. And half of our order came out wrong. J butlers is a sports bar located in a shopping center, every time I have gone I have never seen them busy except for if the games are on. I like to go on Sunday's when they have all day dollar wings and 50 cent peel and eat shrimp. The wings are okay but ten for ten dollars you really can't complain. Their ranch and bleu cheese to me is also average. The peel and eat shrimp is pretty good except for when you peel it all the spices were on the skin. They have a pretty good menu I have had their burgers before they are tasty. Service is top notch every waitress I have ever had is super friendly and attentive. I will definitely continue to patronize this business and try more things. read more

I've been to J Butler's many times, but each time, I keep wondering if it'll get better. Sadly, it hasn't. The service is good - the waitstaff is friendly. But the food is not very good at all. A few weeks ago, I ordered the fish and chips. They were extremely salty. Two days ago, I ordered teriyaki chicken strips and hot chips. Same thing, salty. My husband and I also ordered water with our bar drinks, and the glasses of water both had a soapy taste to them. It is to the point where I give up. This was my first visit to this location. A few of us meet for a late lunch before going to a cruise in. I only ordered a appetizer of buffalo shrimp and they where just ok. One of my friends ordered a chicken wrap with no onions but it came loaded with onions. She asked our waiter and he admitted he messed up and took care of the reorder. He said three minutes but it took a little longer but not to long. He did offer a free desert to her and she did take it. That goes along way with me he gave it a great effort to make everyone happy. If you like mediocre food, a bar-type atmosphere, lots of TVs, and cheap beer, then J Butlers is for you. They have a large menu but it's all so-so (as far as what I've tried). I've tried the fajita shrimp salad, the veggie burger, The New Yorker, and several appetizers (pretzels, nachos, chips and queso). The New Yorker was the best by far. Again, not bad food, just okay, and what you would expect from a bar. The wait staff has always been nice and attentive, so I will give them that. The prices aren't horrid for what you get. I'd say this place is great for watching a game and drinking a cold one. Not really my scene, but I'm sure there are many out there that enjoy that kind of thing. read more

We stopped by at 6:30ish on a Sunday in November. I thought it was odd that the place was pretty empty, this being NFL season. I now understand why. Slow service from the waitress in an empty restaurant, for starters. We both ordered the steamed vegetables. Look at the attached photo, I wouldn't feed those carrots to a starving rabbit. Having past experiences with J Butlers, I wasn't thrilled to go to the newest location in Kernersville. I didn't have the same issues that these previous reviewers had at this location, but I did at the other locations. Though I will say that the servers here were not the warmest or most attentive, the food was not bad at all! I had the New Yorker, a large pastrami sandwich that was very tasty! The table behind us was seated about 5 min after us and they got their appetizer and entree but we got nothing. The waitress stopped once and said our food should be coming soon. I stopped her again after she delivered the other tables entrees and she said she would check but it was my entree ( btw it was the nightly special) that was taking so long. Maybe understandable if the place was full but it was less than half full smh. I finally got up and just left.
