I really wanted to like Uptown Charlie's, but the food just did not deliver. I ordered the Carolina burger, and it was just okay. The patty itself was decent, but the chili and coleslaw were clearly premade, straight out of a bag, and added nothing memorable to the burger. The mac and cheese was honestly terrible. The waitress confirmed it also comes from a bag, and unfortunately it tasted exactly like you would expect. The chicken nachos were disappointing as well. The shredded chicken was completely unseasoned, and the lettuce did not look fresh. It felt thrown together rather than prepared with any care. The buffalo flatbread pizza was probably the biggest letdown. The crust was not crispy, the same bland shredded chicken from the nachos was used, and it was basically just chicken and cheese. No onions, no chilis, no jalapeños, no peppers. Nothing for flavor or even color. Service was fine, and the staff was honest when asked, which I appreciate. But for a sports bar, the food needs to be far better than reheated, bagged ingredients. Two stars because it is edible and the service was polite, but there is a lot of room for improvement in the kitchen. read more

Updating my review from a year ago. Uptown Charlie's has gone from a 4 to a solid 5 stars. We took the family and a few of our kids' friends for dinner, and the food was noticeably better all the way around. The mozzarella sticks were hot, crispy, and perfectly melty. My triple-decker BLT was huge! Great proportions and plenty of juicy bacon, with a tasty side of well seasoned onion rings. My wife's chicken tostada came in a fried, crispy and fluffy tostada shell that was light and delicious. All of the kids loved sharing the tenders, boom boom shrimp, wings, and cheese curds. Everyone found something they liked -- the menu has a good mix for both kids and adults. The atmosphere is laid-back, with TVs on every wall showing just about any game you'd want. Our server was spot on, friendly and attentive. She was in the middle of training a new staff member who shadowed her the whole night, and she didn't skip a beat. When I am house/pet sitting in the area, I like to sneak away just once to Uptown Charlie's for lunch. Since I am from Minnesota (on the border of Wisconsin) I appreciate good Cheese Curds. They have good cheese curds! They have a great Buffalo Chicken Wrap! Get the fries and dunk both in their amazing creamy ranch dressing! Meh. It was ok. Greeted at the door and given a booth near the bar. The waitress did her job but didn't kill it. I did have to ask for a tea refill. Ordered appetizers. They came out hot and were ok. Several of the cheese curds didn't even have cheese in them! I had the chicken and mushroom sandwich. It was good but did not stand out. The place has a ton of TVs for sports viewing from all angles which is great for football. The place was decently clean. The men's bathroom did not have paper towels. We were there until about 30 minutes until closing and they started cleaning (understandable), however a lot of bleach was used to clean at the bar and was super strong and irritating. I have mixed feelings about Uptown Charlie's, so this is really a 3.5-3.75, sometimes 4, star review. Location- Really great for the area and locals, not much else around here like this so it's very much needed! Parking- Great! Drinks- A lot of options, good drink specials. On this visit, my friend ordered a martini and really enjoyed it. I usually order wine and beer so personally can't speak to mixed drinks. Prices - fair and comparable, no complaints Food - This is where I can't seem to give a full 4 or 5 stars. It's not that it's bad, it's just nothing super spectacular and is consistently just okay. I've never had a BAD meal, but everything is kind of bland. On my last visit, I ordered the BBQ chicken entree. It was really big and you get 2 sides, which is nice, for around $15. However, the chips and Mac & Cheese were pretty bland. Not much seasoning or flavor. The chicken was super tender though and had a nice flavor with the toppings. My friend ordered a couple of items off the specialty menu, the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (which I've also had before and loved!) and the Mexican corn. She really enjoyed both. The corn was pretty good, I had a bite. Again, I've never had a bad meal, it just never leaves me in awe. Overall, good option if you're in the area. Ordered a Bacon cheeseburger pick up order and went and picked it up. When I got back to my destination I opened the box and realized they didn't give me any fries. I called to get a partial refund for what the fires would have been as I already paid $14 for a burger with no lettuce or tomatoe and I was nice enough to put a tip for a pick up order. The person I dealt with said I had to come in face to face to get a voucher of some kind. I wasn't satisfied since I don't live in the area and I wasn't coming back. The restaurant agreed to refund the full order roughly $16 bucks. however it's been two weeks now and I realize they lied to me. Totally unacceptable and terrible customer service. The concept of loaded fries is good but I don't like soggy fries. Enter Loaded Hot Chips from @uptowncharliesgso These were fantastic! Even the bottom chips held their crunch. I moved to Browns Summit recently, asked my neighbors where to grab a bite. I got two recommendations. The first was to just make the drive to Summerfield. The second was to avoid "Upchuck's". Had no idea where Upchuck's was. After grabbing a burger here and ending up sick on the toilet for 3 days after and then warning a neighbor on their way out to dinner, it was then explained that Uptown Charlie's was "Upchuck's". Extremely loud indoors, sloth speed service and oddly wet mealy burgers. Definitely definitely skip "Upchuck's" when finding a quick bite. read more

I stopped by here for dinner and drinks and really enjoyed it. For starters my table got the buffalo chicken dip. It was perfectly cheesey and had a nice buffalo flavor. The dip was served hot with chips and was a great start to the meal. For my entree I got the chicken creole pasta. The pasta was pretty good but I was expecting more flavor from the sauce. It was topped with beans, corn, tomatoes, cheese and tortilla strips. The toppings were kind of different for a pasta but they help to bring some flavor to the dish. I'm not sure if I'd get the pasta again but I'd like to go back and try some of their other offerings! I'd definitely get the buffalo chicken dip again. We went on a Friday night and they had live music. The artist playing was very talented but it was hard to talk to my friends over the music. Tucked away in small shopping center, but such a big asset to the area. We love getting Uptown Charlie's take out during the week when we don't feel like cooking. Their wings are amazing and they have super fresh salads for hot days when you're not looking for anything heavy. This is another winning spot for my picky kids. My daughter is very critical of hot dogs and they have to be just right. I'm happy to report that their hot dog passed her taste test! The Chicken Teriyaki Wrap is delicious and goes great with a big bowl of chili. I eat here a couple of times a month and they don't disappoint. Great environment for date night or watching a game. I love Uptown Charlies..Charlie's... but let's be clear.cleat.. it's not a 4 star restaurant. The good: Staff is usually very accommodating. The wait time for a table is rarely long and they take care to keep the place clean. The meh: It's bar food. Hot chips, pre-made burgers, wraps and wings. Nothing special, but they are consistent...mostly..and fix issues promptly should there be any. The bad: the booths do NOT accommodate anyone with breast or men with girth. We always just ask for a table. The TVs are awesome, but they no longer have table speakers so you can hear particular tvs. That was a great draw. Kind of wish a Bluetooth option could be added then we could use our own. What I recommend.. Salads.. Santafe Chicken Salad is great here Bang bang shrimp... hot and crisp. What in the world happened to Uptown? We have gone here for years and it slowly just has gotten worse. Now, with that being said it was never 5 star, but it was fine. The kids loved it and they had a wonderful kids night. We visited last Friday night and after that visit, it will be a long time till we return. Our server.... I think she was just lost. Never asked for refills and honestly we probably would have gotten another round of beer. (We only had 1) I ordered the cheese curd appetizer that never even came. I'm about 99% sure they forgot our middle daughter's meal because it came out (chicken fingers and mac and cheese) about 15 minutes after the rest of ours. And honestly, things happen. If they would have just said something we would have been laid back. My buffalo chicken salad was terrible. The chicken breading was soggy and wasn't even stuck to the chicken. It was greasy tasting and felt like it had been in old fryer grease. Not sure how you mess up a chicken salad but they did. It was disgusting. Clearly I don't complain much based on reviews but Uptown it's time to pull it together. You have a gold mine in that location! read more
