Ribs, onion rings, more hush puppies, horseradish sauce
    Justin F.

Been here a bunch of times now. The food is always good (love the brisket), with fast service, and the space is huge with spots to eat and play inside and out on the patio. We checked out the arcade area adjacent to the bar upstairs with this most recent visit. That was my first time in that particular area of the restaurant, and I was impressed with the size of the space. They could perhaps add more to the arcade collection, but the kids had fun and it was an enjoyable atmosphere to lounge.

This pic is deceiving ...all bad except the hush puppies

Hands down, the worst BBQ I've ever had and the sides literally said "hold my beer"! Pulled pork - watery and not with sauce. Watered down sauce or bad bbq soaking in sauce when they defrosted the Sysco or Costco tub. Collard greens should sue this place for defamation b/c if this was your first time eating them, you would swear they were flavorless (like not even salt and pepper) the pot liquor was water. The Mac and cheese was advertised as "3 cheese" but it should have been called "not 3 flecks of seasoning Mac and mild cheese". They used a béchamel but they need a sharper cheese (1 of the 3) and salt. Is there a moratorium on salt in Winston Salem? The baked beans were straight out the can. They had the nerve to add on the menu "sides may contain meat" the lies they told. These beans didn't even have the fat from the can but they came straight from the can. Nasty The Cole slaw was straight from Sam's club and nasty. Only good times: the hush puppies (if you like sweet, I do) and the sausage was decent but not great. Needless to say, never coming back here. I think k it's more bar than eatery so the drunks roaming the downtown will enjoy. Ppl with functioning and sober taste buds, save your money.

This place is more than dinner--it's an experience! You park, snap a pic of your license plate, for validation and head inside. Self-serve is level floor, full service is up on the third floor. The space is fun, clean, and packed with old-school games like Super Mario Bros. Our server was polite and low-key, and the bar adds to the lively vibe. Food was decent--my brisket was a little dry but still tender. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid. The layout feels a bit awkward since they took over an older building, but they made it work. Overall, it's a great spot for teens, college kids, or Gen Xers chasing nostalgia. Come for the fun and games; takeout works if you're just after the food.

This is a wonderful place to go with a group. The food is good, they have a bar, and most of the second floor is a game room. There are plenty of dining options and a kids menu as well. They do add 20% for large party gratuity but will not tell you that when you are given the check, so be mindful. Our server asked us if we wanted dessert and then didn't tell me the correct cookie flavors - apparently they always have chocolate chip, except when they don't. Despite that hiccup I still would recommend eating here!

Get the brisket sandwich!!! I was in town for a conference and I decided to stop by as I was leaving town. I like that they have a parking lot and when you enter the restaurant, there is a computer to add your license plate to it. The downstairs is for take out orders or ordering yourself on kiosk. The upstairs is for sitting down with waiter and there was plenty of space during lunch time on a weekday. The brisket and hush puppies were sooooo good!!! Very fresh and hot. No sauce was needed and I didn't eat it all. The waiter was very friendly and made sure my mom and I were good. I can't wait to come back to this place!

Good quick lunch spot. Nice value for portion size, flavor etc. arrived at noon on a Tuesday and seated on 2nd story no wait. Fast and friendly service. Ordered an assortment of meats, wings, onion rings, and sandwiches. My brisket and mac wrap was huge, I have plenty for a few more meals. The hot wings were tasty. Onion rings fell a little flat, onions uncooked and batter was not very flavorful but the dipping sauce helped. Fun lively vibes would love to come back in the evening, take advantage of wine special and enjoy some arcade games ! @azfitfoodfun

Great service, amazing ambiance and unique food experience. Went today 3/15, food was really slow. Bar seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Food not as strong as first time. But the bartender was nice, along with the customers. Overall still a good spot but as far as food goes they dropped quite a bit.

Plate with brisket and pulled pork - fries, hush puppies, and white slaw

Stopped by Camel City BBQ Factory for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It's a huge space, and the setup confused me at first, but from what I understood, you can order counter service on the first floor or be served by a waiter on the upper floor. There's outdoor seating, a bar, and old retro games at the table (plus connect four and other options). WS Pride was happening downtown, so it was a bit busy, but we were seated quickly. Our server was friendly and helpful, and while service was on the slower side, we understood due to the crowd. We tried a variety of items, and the brisket and hush puppies were my personal favorites. I wasn't wowed by the food, but it was on par with what I'd expect from a BBQ joint. They have a large menu and lots to do, so I think families would really enjoy this spot.

Super casual BBQ restaurant located in downtown Winston-Salem. The restaurant is two floors. You can order at the counter on the bottom floor and sit at one of the tables inside or outside. If you want full-service, you can sit upstairs. My husband and I chose to sit upstairs. I ordered a pulled pork platter. It came with hush puppies, slaw, and another side. You can substitute a different side instead of the slaw for an additional cost. I chose onion rings and sweet potato tots instead of slaw. I also shared a mac & cheese side with my husband. My husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it came with either fries, hush puppies, or a combo of both. He chose the combo. Food came quick. Everything was really good and portions were absolutely giant. It truly made 2 more meals for me from what I took home. Server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a bunch of games around the tables you can play while you wait for your food (e.g. tic-tac-toe, connect four, etc.) and an arcade area upstairs too. They do have an outside area that dogs are allowed in.

We hosted our family holiday greeting at Camel City BBQ recently, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a festive gathering, but what really made the day special was our server, Janelle. She was absolutely amazing--attentive, friendly, and handled our group with such ease. She made sure everyone had what they needed and kept the positive energy going. If you're heading here, definitely ask for Janelle! We'll be back for sure.

The food and drinks were solid, with plenty of options including tacos and BBQ. We shared one plate between three people and still had plenty of food, including leftovers to take home. I grabbed a pineapple frozen margarita that was refreshing on a hot humid summer day. We happened to visit on trivia night, but it was difficult to hear the questions, so we didn't end up participating. Parking can also be a challenge during peak visits. The AC was also pretty loud, but honestly, on a hot summer day, I was just glad they had it! The open garage doors were a nice touch and gave the space a relaxed, open-air feel. Overall, had a good experience, the food is my type of cuisine so unsure if I will be back, maybe for drinks and appetizers for sure.

Our server was warm, attentive, and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we asked. The space has that familiar barbecue joint look. Nothing fancy, just comfortable and family friendly. Noise level sat right in the middle, lively but not overwhelming, and no one rushed us even as we lingered, laughed, and took more photos than necessary. I ordered the Pitmaster Plate with North Carolina chopped barbecue. You can choose sliced, chunky, or chopped. The pork was tender, flavorful, and exactly the slightly vinegary flavor I love. I added collard greens, coleslaw, and sweet potato casserole. The greens had a slight kick but were balanced. The coleslaw was fresh and necessary alongside the barbecue. The sweet potato casserole was easily the standout side. The only drawback is portioning on the sides. They are a bit small, especially if you are planning leftovers. I went in hoping to stretch this into multiple meals and almost made it. Still worth it, just manage expectations. Also worth noting, bread does not come with the plate, so I added rolls. My total came to about $31 with the automatic gratuity for larger groups, and I added a little extra. For the quality, service, and portion of barbecue, that feels more than fair. Everything was consistently good, and the experience made it even better. Great spot for groups, easygoing, and welcoming. I will be back. I chose their original sauce, by far the best selection for the brisket. As usual the to go order was out quickly, just over 10 minutes, and I was on my way, with my meal securely packaged. These folks do a great job filling your order quickly and accurately, and for a reasonable price - things that used to be so common at restaurants stretching from hot dog joints to steak houses - pretty rare these days! This was the typical excellent meal from Honky Tonk - the brisket was very nice, made very special by their original BBQ sauce; the Brisket Chili had its own full smoky taste, with beans included, but apparently no onions; and the collards are good but not great - more sweetness than I care for, no sign of meat onions, or cabbage. I drain the liquid that comes with the collard and add a healthy doses of red wine vinegar and Texas Pete. The sausage included cheddar and jalapeños, and packed a nice spice level. This would be nice served a full length on a hot dog bun with a stout mustard. This Tue and Wed promise to be rather cool, will consider another visit for the Brunswick Stew, more good stuff!

I even asked the barista if he remembered to put the espresso in it and he said that he did. I'm not so sure... this time I ordered something different. I asked which flavors of syrups they had and also if they were Housemade. The mark of a true gourmet coffeehouse is housemaid syrups... The girl told me that they don't make the syrups in this location, but at their Charlotte location and they're brought up here. They had the typical ones: vanilla hazelnut and mocha. I chose to get a regular iced oat milk latte sweetened with a little honey with cinnamon powder. The flavor of the espresso is very good and bold and it blended well with the cinnamon and honey. I also ordered two pastries, including A chocolate chunk cookie and a blueberry muffin. I ordered the blueberry muffin because a customer behind me said that the blueberry muffin is his wife's absolute favorite of all the blueberry muffins she's ever had! That sold me on it! The same kind customer mentioned something about a chocolate chunk cookie as he was asking his friend who was already sitting down what he wanted. Again, when I heard chocolate chunk cookie, I had to have one! They had samples of chocolate chip bread that was tasty, but it seemed to have sugar on it which though it is very common in most bakeries I do not prefer. I have no idea why they are putting sugar on top of pastries that are already sweet. It is likely due to the fact that most Americans are addicted to sugar! The complaint that I have is that it took forever for the barista to make my iced latte... I have no idea why... At one point after she had been working on it for several minutes she had to go get more oat milk but before that, I don't know what was taking her so long. Anyway, Copain has a cool vibe and they were playing very beautiful music that suited the vibe very well. The blueberry muffin was tasty and full of fresh blueberries but again it had sugar on top of it! The chocolate chunk cookie was also very large, fresh and soft. It was full of chocolate chunks, and I could even taste a hint of sea salt. Again, it was a little too sweet for me, though. There were several customers in Copain Bakery and Provisions enjoying their coffees and food. They have lots of edible items, including sweet and savory ones sandwiches, salads, croissants, muffins, cookies, brownies... They have ample amount of items to choose from to suit mini a distinct pallet. The service was also very friendly and warm. The prices were also what I considered to be excellent as I paid a total of less than $20 and that included the tip for my two pastries and my 16 ounce iced oat milk latte!
