So we were a customer, and the property owner died. We called J C & was told in order to do business they would require a $ 500.00 deposit. We counted by offering to pay C.O.D. but are you ready for this ? They still wanted a $ 500.00 deposit. Why do you need a deposit if we pay before delivery ? Many of J C's employees worked at Meenan before Mrs Meenan sold out to Star Oil based in canada & apparently they learned the same idiotic ways that Star does business. We opted to use Rex Fuels for oil ( very nice & no games ) & Ray Lthwyn's for repairs ( very nice, no games ). It would have been nice using J C cause they were under 1/4 mile away from us but when a company makes an unreasonable offer, remember you can always refuse it. For a few years, I used them to deliver heating oil and my experience was generally positive. When I used them to repair a heater, I was not only overcharged, but the repair did not work. I was charged for labor and a part which they marked up ten times as much as it costs at Home Depot. Accidentally ran out of oil on a Sunday. Looked for someone who provided emergency oil delivery. Their website says " Emergency service 24/7 365 days in any weather". Was told by the lady that answered the phone that they do not do deliveries on the weekends. I responded by saying "oh I'm sorry that's not what I read on your website" and she hung up on me without responding. Misleading advertising and crappy customer service is a hell of a business model. read more

He then sent out his guys Joe and John who were great and replaced my leaking hot water heater. They were very professional and very kind for I was crying on the phone going through a lot in life at the moment. Meh (as suggested by yelp) is about right. My (17 yr old) heat pump died just before the Memorial Day weekend. Called JC to have someone come in and take look. They were one of, I think, two shops available that Saturday. Someone did come in; it cost something like $150. Fair enough so far, this being a holiday weekend. The guy discovered a blown capacitor, something like $300 to replace - "sorry, off-hours pricing". No way in hell that capacitor costs more than $100, and I don't understand why a part should cost more Saturday than next Monday. Turned out the compressor was shot, so at the end of the day we were only out the $150 or so for the visit; JC gets their second star for being honest. I asked for an estimate to replace the whole thing. Got pricing for a few Amana setups; felt expensive overall. Asked for a quote on a Lennox or a Carrier setup - I wanted to stay with a top-tier brand. Amana, while a solid choice, is rated second-tier at pretty much any professional HVAC site. Was promised a quote, never got one. In parallel, I got quotes from two more places. One was for an older Carrier setup; the price was actually the same as a similar Amana setup for JC. The other quote was for a better Carrier setup that was actually less than either JC or the other shop. Funnily enough, these guys had a busy install schedule; they also had the best credentials of the three. So we ended up with a very nice two-stage Carrier system for less than what JC wanted for a similar Amana setup. Luckily for us, the weather cooperated. So.. if you are replacing a pump and not in a rush, go elsewhere - there are some good people based in Levittown. If it is an emergency, JC is a valid option, but be prepared to be charged an arm, a leg and then some. read more

I think the C stands for crook. I bought a house that had a heater installed by J Crook Heating. When I called to confirm the warranty was still good and transferable prior to the purchase of the house, someone in his office said yes. Well when I needed the heater pressurized and tested guess who said the warranty wasn't any good. Now I realize this is not an indication of the work he does, just his credibility. But the fact that I needed the heater inspected for some type of problem should speak to his quality of work also. read more

I called JC Heating and Cooling to have a chimney and heating certification done on my property in Buck's County. The inspection was completed by a nice gentlemen and I received a call two days later telling me that my boiler was improperly stored in the closet near the hot water heater. I was told that they could not certify the system and they would provide me with a quote to rectify the situation. I could not understand how, just 4 years prior, the seller had these clearances done by certified/licensed personnel, with little to no issue. A second gentlemen came out to my house measuring the distance the boiler had from the walls telling me it was unacceptable to have the unit where it had been for years. Two days later I received a call with a $6,600 quote to shuffle the systems around and have the adequate space. I was flabbergasted. I guess they thought they could gouge me for $6k. Unfortunately I paid them $200+ dollars and never got certified. I didn't even get anything telling me it wasn't going to be certified or why. I saw this as a ploy to get money out of me. Within 36 hours I have two other reputable companies come out to certify the chimney and heat without any issue. While I had to spend extra money, it felt good to know I could find honest people who would not try to rob me for my money. I would not recommend this company based on my one-time experience. While they have been serving for 41+ years in the area, I felt like they tried to take advantage of me. read more

Recently, in a serious cold spell, the hose of our sump pump froze; the result was 8-10" of water in our basement. Of course this affected the oil burner. Was trying to find their phone number and came across their YELP. Figured I would give a positive review since it seems only angry people have vented on here. I have used them for oil for the last several years. Their delivery drivers and service guys are always very nice and helpful. the lady on the phone is always very pleasant and helpful. They are prompt and arrive when they are supposed to. Recently, I went to bleed off my oil tank and there was no water in it. In case you don't know, usually there is some water that accumulates in the bottom of all oil tanks for many different reasons, sometimes due to the oil provider not having a high quality product, but this is not the case with JC, they have quality oil at reasonable prices. read more

Poor communication from staff as well as owner not disclosing any agreement including a non refundable near $500.00 dollars worth (paid by credit card--they only accept CC and cash) for not fulfilling scheduled arrangements for an oil fill. I would suggest to customers, staff, and owner to record your conversation because this business/owner will not own lack of commitment to a set time that have been arranged, rather puts the blame on the customer (expect to sit around and wait for them). Great customer service and professional work. We starting planning to replace our boiler in January. Out of sight out of mind, it was not a priority until it died and we were without hot water. JC Heating and cooling honored the old quote and were out in 2 days to get us back up and running. The customer service here is top notch. There was one minor setback after the install, the door would not close to the boiler room in our garage. I have made similar mistakes in construction as this is a very easy oversight. Had them come out in the dead of winter because the heater wasn't working. They told me it was dead and had to have it replaced. I called a different heating company the next day and wala the heater works again. Unfortunately, I had to go trough a cold night. I would highly recommend getting other estimates before giving them a dime. JC took $575 to do inspections and produced extreme results saying that I need to spend $7647 to get up to code. In shock I had 3 other companies take a look and they all said that the estimate was very high. I actually got the work done for under a G. They are still holding my $575 and last time I talked to them they hung up on me. When I asked to see the results of their inspection-videos they gave me the run around for 3 days and then said I had to pick up a DVD in their office 25 mins away. Called on a Monday to have someone come out and take a look at my upstairs heating unit and they even called me back same day to confirm. On the day I was supposed to have service, my allotted time came and went. I called to see if they were still coming out and they told me someone didn't even write up a work order to come out and that they would not be coming out. I don't even get angry anymore because every business I deal with is just more and more incompetent. Hello my name is Rick. I had some good experiences with JC Heating. And after talking to the manager in Tullytown I realized I was getting way overcharged for all the work they perform this year all because I did not have a contract with them. So just fair warning to everyone if you decide to go with JC heating and air-conditioning you should definitely buy the contract and the oil from them or or they will way overcharge you for any work they perform. THE WORST!! I waited 2 1/2 hours for a service cleaning made a month prior! They never showed. I called, the woman tells me that she called me to let me know the technician was on his way and i never answered so he did not show. THEY CALLED THE WRONG NUMBER! This was after I gave my new phone number to the woman who scheduled the appointment! So, my ONE day off in 2 weeks, I WASTED 2 1/2 hours of my precious time waiting for absolutely nothing. Called on morning we had no hot water. Saw ad in yellow pages and liked same day service and proximity to yardley. Service man, Paul, arrived on time as promised. An $89 service fee applied and he told us the price of a thermal coupler and the price of a new water heater. Ours was 10 years old and he did not push for either option, but pointed out the savings if future problems arose with age of unit. We chose new water heater and within one hour, two more men delivered it and Paul left. All three men, Paul and the two Jim's introduced themselves immediately upon arrival and worked neatley , efficeintly and professionally. While they were , here, another manager arrived and provided the paper work. So far all is well. We would recommend the company to our Yardley neighbors. read more

After having a non disclosed service charge of 130, we were still going to move forward with a 1300 repair until met with such disheartening service. We had an adjustment made to our system during the diagnostic, and shortly after herd noises in our wall. The owner even said it could be a result of what they adjusted quickening the process of something else going bad and for a fee of 130 they could check that out! Days after the I trial diagnostic of our entire system and water isssie only showed a bad coil. When we questioned this we were told to "lose their number they don't want us as customers". I had cleaning done and then needed to replace/patch part of the chimney stack and then tech tells me I need a expansion tank and relief value. I wasn't sure yet so he adjusted my pressure value and told me if this moves call me. He wasn't out of the driveway before I called him back. That gauge moved so fast up! The next month my heater stopped and I called them for emergency service at 12am on the night before thanksgiving- this tech told me however last cleaned my furnace was at fault and then made no concession in price when I told him it was his company had done the last cleaning. The eye was replaced. Over the next year I started getting water hammer in my hot water pipes. I have a dual hot water and house heat furnace in one. I called and asked if there was a warranty on the expansion tank as 2 people told me the problem was probably due to that. They sent out a tech to inspect it. He was snide and critical that I was calling almost a year later. Then he listened to the water hammer when you turn on the hot water faucet and told me it couldn't be from the hot water heater. And then he sat and looked at the heater running. That's it. He didn't touch a thing. I asked what the pressure gauge should read and he said 20. Then he looked at my pressure gauge and told me that it wasn't reading right or my heater would be leaking. So I thought the pressure gauge needed to be adjusted? I bought the new expansion tank because of the pressure gauge! Instead of making an adjustment or doing anything he then tells me he was the guy last year who installed the expansion tank and did the cleaning! We were with this company for over 10 years and the prior service manager Casey was a super individual and went out of his way to help us. WE had to get a new oil heater and tank that cost us $ 6000 and then later on a coil for the heater $1200 for that,and other parts that never seemed to be covered by the most expensive contract they have . We always took that one in case there were issues and it cost $400 a year. Plus we got oil from them. This year we could not afford the contract and tried to work with them to do it for 6 months at a time instead of the yearly fee , they would not do that and would not work with us in any way on this. Then I had a problem with the heater over easter weekend, called them and my phone call was returned by one of the most rude techs I have encountered who told me that because I did not take the contract this is what happens and do not expect him out that night and I could just as well wait till Monday., till it was not that cold out and being without heat and hot water should not be that big of a deal.... REally? Needless to say that was the end of me dealing with them and I called another company and got them to come out last week and fix the problem and also cancelled the fuel deliveries from JC heating. We have paid way too much money to them to be treated this way and the more companies we called the more I know that they are super high and no one needs to pay over what is necessary to make a profit and still give great customer service... So beware they are not the wonderful company they make themselves out to be now that Joe is the owner. He told me he is out to make money and that is the bold truth. Simply put this company price gouges. They charged me $276 for a $20 part. I asked the tech why are you charging me this much, He agreed it was overpriced and blamed the company .for setting the prices. STAY AWAY!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY!!! Deceptive Business Practices I purchased a New Heating system from Joe the owner a little over a year ago and Part of the Agreement was that he was giving me a service agreement at NO Charge for 2 years' signed the agreement and gave him a deposit and he installed the heater a few days later I will get into the quality of work and reliability shortly. The service contract is really where the issue lies. Once the Heater was installed Joe sent out his oil delivery truck to fill my tank with oil, when I checked the bill he surcharge me .70 cents per Gallon of oil, he never disclosed that I called him and questioned him and his exact words where Nothing is for Free you should know that and that charge is to cover the service agreement (that was Free when I signed the contract) but turns out that he is charging me for it on the over inflated oil charge. Let's get to the quality of his work since they installed the new heater I have had more service calls with them then I had with my 50 year old unit .They forgot to install the pressure release valve for the excess air in the system to escape causing the system to air lock 2 times which stops the heat from working, they have been out 3 times to replace 1 thermostat that stopped working do to the fact they install the wrong transformer to power 3 zones in the house??39 years of experience they should have known how to set this up one would think I have also ran out of oil twice and I am on their automatic delivery AT A PREMIUM PRICE and one of the times there driver can back the next day and tried to fill the tank up again and killed about a 10 ft square of grass in my front yard he forgot he filled it 12 hours earlier and sprayed oil all over the lawn. Joe latest business practice is to mark up the oil to $4.35 per gallon and the going rate when I called his office was $3.569 per gallon!!this just happened on 3/5/2014 I am contacting consumer protection of Bucks County if the owner Joe does not come up with a resolution by 3/14/2014 and depending on that outcome I will contact my attorney if necessary he is taking advantage of people and he should not be allowed to do business that way in our community!!! read more

Their website was aptly named "www.jcheat.com"! I called to have my humidifier water pad replaced because I noticed the indicator light flashing. The night before the technician arrived, my air conditioning unit started making a humming sound. The technician told me it was because I needed a new capacitor. $150 later, I still had the humming noise and the air conditioner stopped working. A second technician came out and told me it wasn't the capacitor that needed to be replaced, rather I needed a new blower. So, I'm out $150 and the charged me $470 for the blower plus $85 to "look up, order, and pick up the part"....seriously? I called back to complain to the service manager, who told the technician what to charge me after all this, and he did absolutely nothing. I had a 14KW Generac generator installed by J.C. Heating & Cooling and the experience was quite pleasant. First of all, I obtained multiple quotes and felt the clear cut winner in terms of value was JC. I felt completely secure that they would do the job right and I didn't want some shoddy electrical work in my house, etc... and their pricing was very competitive. The installation was more than I bargained for, it not only was functional, but about as aesthetically pleasing as you can make a generator. Once my power source was in place for the generator, they came back out to hook up the electrical portion for me and did an excellent job. We tested the entire house to make sure I would have power to what I had outlined pre-installation. The installers were professional, courteous, clean, and on-time! I'll just add that it couldn't have been any easier. If you're in the market, you should at the very least give JC a call. Best of luck! read more
