We waited to be seated for 10 minutes, and then eventually sat down ourself. Took 5 minutes to be greeted or be given a menu.. The chicken tasted like PAINT.... Love the shredded pork at JD's. We go there every Sunday after church. Love their fried corn. There's something for all of the family. Even if we are watching what we eat, JD's has salad and chicken. Glad they came to Acworth!! read more

The smokey spud with pork is my favorite, it's huge and will make a meal for most people. The rib sandwich is also delicious on white bread. One of my favorite bbq spots, although the dining room can be loud as hell when it's busy. read more

Stopped in with a friend because we thought the building was cool. The food is standard BBQ, but nothing to write home about. Their sides need improvement and their desserts leave a lot to be desired. We tried literally 25% of the menu, and nothing really stands out worthy of more than 3 stars. JD's the place to go for BBQ in Acworth, GA. I had the brisket and it was awesome! I also had the potato salad, which too was awesome! And, you know you can't eat just anybody's potato salad! Very good food! We beat the church crowd, which was good, because as we were finishing up they were flooding in. Great service with great timing. Everything we tried was delicious. My only complaint is that I don't believe they have lemonade--what kind of barbecue restaurant doesn't have lemonade! I won't hold it against them for long, though. read more

It continues to decline. Last week the meats were dry and the baked beans had huge pieces of raw garlic in them...awful. The chicken was like jerky but the pork was decent (not great). I read the back of the menu about JD's dream. Unfortunately his dream was our Father's Day nightmare. Waitstaff was untrained and service was very poor. It took 40 minutes to receive food. Ribs were uncooked. They were replaced, but without side dishes. The owners stood in the background and did not even speak to us. Our meal was offered to us for free. Something really bad for free is still really bad. Will not go back again, nor recommend to anyone. Yelp will not allow for zero stars, but it is really zero stars. read more

On our way back to Atlanta from Cartersville, during rush hour traffic, we decided to look for BBQ in Acworth (words I never thought would come out of my fingers). I love BBQ and am disappointed when someone I give my hard earned money totally blows it. That wasn't the case with J.D.'s Bar-B-Que. We found it on the "Around Me" app and it was a fantastic find! The building is cool...looks like it was repurposed and totally updated. Inside, we were immediately greeted with welcomes and friendly smiles. Noticed a great little bar in the front (they probably get a great happy hour). We were seated immediately and the sweet iced tea kept on coming! The BBQ (I had the pork) was AMAZING. The portions were quite generous and if I wasn't going to hurt myself I would have finished my plate, but about 1/4 of it became a mid-night snack! I had the fries--seasoned perfectly, and the coleslaw--simple, but it was so good, it was the first thing I finished on my plate! The friendliness was continuous...I was blown away that they hit it on the mark across the board. I rarely leave the Atlanta city limits just to eat, but you better believe I'll be back to J.D.'s! read more

Not the worst BBQ I have ever had but by far not the best. Very dry. Had to put a lot of sauce to make moist. Found several large pieces of gristle mixed in the meat which I guess is to be expected. Went after the lunch crowd. It wasn't busy and service was so so at best. Brunswick Stew was ok. I ate at the one in woodstock and it was way better. Might try that one again but probably not Acworth. read more

We always enjoy the food at JD's. Their BBQ is the best around. I only wish they would come up with some signature dishes. I'm longing for a BBQ sandwich with pimento cheese and onion rings on it. I have seen and heard of this place and disappointed it took me over a year to get here. Alex, our sever, was awesome along with the food. I am pretty picky when it come to BBQ. The ribs are a must to get when you go here. Our waitress let us sample a couple side because we couldn't decide. Everything was great. Can't wait to go back. Oh, and make sure you go hungry. We normally order take-out here maybe once a month and it is always fantastic. We've eaten in the dining room too several times and both food and service have been great. We love the pulled pork sandwiches. The meat is always consistently good and never greasy. Love the okra and onion rings too. Tea good. Really have nothing bad to say about this place. They will continue to be our bar-b-que choice. Only thing that would be nice is if they started offering fried green beans, but hey, they can't offer it all............. read more

The food was very good. Our waitress was extremely rude to us. She took our order and we asked for iced tea with lemon. She returned with iced tea and no lemon. When I asked her again for some lemon she told us that they did not have any cut and that she did not have time to cut some. She never returned to our table after that. New to the town and was very impressed. The small southern home feel was very unique. What I was really blown away by was the food! Some of the best BBQ and fried pickles I've ever had. We were disappointed with the service. The food was out super fast, however the server only came back to check on us once and that was to bring the check. I had the pork plate on my most recent visit and it was as good as any I have ever had; and I have been to some of the best bbq places in the SE. Moist with great hickory flavor. Generous portion. The sides need some work. The slaw was too sweet and too soupy. The collards were spicy and good on my first visit, too salty to eat on my next visit . The corn on the cob is very good. The sauces are too sweet so bring your own if you prefer vinegar or mustard based. Definitely ask for the sauce on the side or it will be drenched with the sweet stuff. I really love this place. Very casual place, I PROMISE that no matter what you're wearing, you won't feel underdressed. Their ribs are good, and their beef brisket is to die for. If you choose only one meat item get the brisket, it's just the right combo of fatty and meaty and you can actually see the smoke rings. I'm an avid barbeque fan, and I can say they have some of the best around. Their sides are also very good. I recommend the onion rings and fried okra. Friendly staff, and fast service. The only complaint I have is their parking. It's a nightmare. you may have to wind up parking across the street. read more

I come from a family of bar-b-que lovers and JD's is the place I go for the best bbq in Cobb County. JD's pork is my favorite. It is moist and does not have a lot of fat in it. Some places give you pork full of fat, which I cannot eat. My wife says JD's chicken is the best she has eaten and my nephew cannot get enough of the ribs. The beef brisket is also very good. The sides are better than average with the corn-on-the cobb being the star of the sides. As far as the bbq sauce goes, there are lots of good sauces around and I think JD's has one of the best. I'm not sure where to start. When we walked in it seemed like a bunch of high school girls were running the place without supervision. Our service was terrible. In the middle of the meal the girls started rearranging tables and chairs. They were to lazy to pick them up and slid them all over the place. Eating dinner in NYC Times Square would have been quieter. The food was down right nasty. I ordered ribs which were served bone side up to hide the nasty fat. They claim its fall off the bone but you couldn't pull it apart. The chopped pork tasted like water, seems it was sitting all day and they tried to add moisture to it. We ordered the fried pickle which tasted like salt and the dip looked like it was used before and reserved. We all left our meal and wished we had never entered this place.
