I regret going to this place. They are not professional at all. I went this morning for a 1 hour foot massage. The ladies working there were talking and talking. No music in the background. I have to put my earbuds to try to relax. Plus the older guy that I got was horrible. He was giving a massage with no pressure at all. I got so desperate after 15 minutes. I've been going to this place for a year now. I went into the place today, Sunday, June 4th at 4:15 pm and they told me they take appointments only. Of all the times I've gone here, I have never made a single appointment and they're usually very nice. Not only that, but they do an amazing job at releasing my more tense areas as well as very good pricing. The bald, Asian man who was at the front desk/kiosk thing told me I can't because they close at 5:30 and I needed to make an appointment. On this yelp page, it says a later time, and on Google it says an even later time. I'm extremely disappointed at the fact I got pushed out when I really just needed a 30 minute body massage. Place was very clean and the massage was decent, but note: you pay $45 as advertised BEFORE you receive your massage. Then after you're done, the masseuse will tell you that "a minimum $10 tip is NOT included." I think it would be fair to the buyer to state this up front. I've always tipped based on how I felt the quality of the massage was, not because it was mandatory. Still deciding whether Sam is a reflexologist or a psychic. Maybe a bit of both. Within seconds of laying his supersensory fingers on my feet, Sam was able to determine that I wear high heels a lot, dance, used to model, and I go to sleep late. True. So there is no hiding from this guy. He can tell by a mere wiggle of your pinky toe if you tend to hold it in when you need to go to the bathroom (yes, he told me this). Over the course of the next hour, he gave advice on how to improve my well-being. He also knew I get foot and leg cramps in the middle of the night and showed me how to help ease the pain. It was unbelievable how much he knew. The reflexology itself was invigorating. I was afraid it would hurt, but they test out the level of pressure you can handle in the beginning. My friend's masseuse wasn't as insightful and at times she appeared to be in pain, but she still felt good afterwards. They are opening a new location down the street, so hopefully there will be an improvement in ambiance. Right now it's reminiscent of a seedy massage parlor in Chinatown. But at 45 bucks for one hour's worth of fortune-telling foot rubbing, this place can't be beat. read more

Sam is awesome. He never charges more then whats needed. His techniques are awesome. I had numbness in my right hand from fixing iphones, and everybody thought I had carpel tunnel. Sam touched my back and his face glimmered. massaged my kneck and pop!! the numbness when away. I have been seeing him for over 2 years, and reffered him countless people. keep in mind this is reflexology masage so gotta be able to handle pain. But its soo worth it. I make a point to see him every month. Same is very genuine, and if he thinks 30 minutes is enough he will tell you on the spot, if you need more he will say so as well. I've gone to Sam for neck and shoulder pain at least 6 times now. His massages consist of deep tissue with acupressure and some adjustments. You have to tolerate pain to reap the benefits from his work. Wear a light tshirt or tank as he'll massage over a towel applied over the clothes. It's a clothed massage. He asks you what the problem is and goes right to it. After some assessment he'll come up with a source of my pain which is often very intuitive and accurate. I stopped using a pillow because of Sam and it's been the answer to my neck torsion. The cost is unbeatable for the quality: $35 for a 30 min and I think $60 for 1 hr. I have always seen JF Foot Bath when I go to Trader Joe's/Jamba Juice/Safeway. But never tried it there. I almost wrote off Reflexology foot massages all together since at the couple places I had it at were A-OK to me. So I decided to try this after seeing some great reviews here on yelp. So I decided to go in and get a price listing. As soon as I got to my car, I decided to see if there was any opening, so I went back and asked. Sam said yes. So Jasmin and I relaxed in there and were good. Sam asks if I want the pressure to be hard. I said yes. He was putting on pressure to spots that I didnt even know were sore. He mentioned some of my habits and recommended to change some of them. Now that was a great Reflexology Massage. That is what I expect when I want an acupressure massage. I went to J F Foot Bath in Feb 08. My friend who lives in the area said she saw a small little reflexology place that I might be able to go to cure my shoulder/neck pain. I had just finished hiking with her & told my friend that I had some pain since the middle of the week & that I needed to go somewhere for a quick fix. We stopped in, and Sam was able to take me right away for a quick 30 minute chair massage. WOW! He did wonders on my neck, shoulders & back. He pinpointed all the stress areas that I had & gave me a bunch of tips to help alleviate the pain. (I needed to for sure, stretch more & drink more water! Hot/Cold Compresses too) I felt so much better during and after his massage. He has magical hands and is VERY VERY strong. I was pleasantly surprised, since I'm the type to be very unsure about going into places without a recommendation. If you are ever in this area, you should stop in & check it out. 10a-10pm, 7 days a week is great! I'm headed again tomorrow & bringing two friends with me to experience J F Foot Bath! In the sleepy little town of Millbrae known for its dim sum and dumpling shops lies this little gem of a place. Reflexology. Foot bath. I don't know what kind of images those words conjure up for you, but for me, I think of health and rejuvenation of this aging body. Just had to try it as soon as I spotted it. They seemed more authentic than the other places that offered reflexology. I think it's because they're focused on this as their business rather than offering it as a supplemental service to a hair cut or pedicure. The decor is plain as can be. The reading material inside is either of Chinese origin or about foot health. Really didn't matter because the owner (Sam?) encouraged me to sit back and relax.. and relax I did. My feet were placed in a plastic lined wooden tub of water for ten to fifteen minutes. Next, towels to dry and a massage of the toes and feet. Admittedly, when someone's vigorously rubbing your feet (don't worry, he asks how much pressure to apply before going to work on your toesies) it's hard to let go completely, but I found myself zoning out now and then. Sam would rub a part of my foot and ask whether I experienced neck pain or if I had trouble sleeping and he'd rub another part of my foot and advise me not to drink too much cold water. Awesome. After the lovely foot massage (bliss!) Sam massaged my neck, shoulders and head. Oh boy. I knew then that I had to purchase a 'membership' to this place. He rubbed the heck out of my shoulder and neck and applied accupressure to parts of my head and neck. Awesome. I also contemplated whether I should yelp this place or not. I mean, parking is plentiful (not to mention free) and I was able to make an appointment within the hour and the cost is fairly reasonable. Oh, did I mention that they're open from 10am-10pm 7 days a week?! Sigh... do I want that all to go away? Well, I left feeling so ready for bed and so appreciative of all the work Sam did for this tired mama, that I think others should know about this place. So, shhh, but spread the word! I have stiff neck. Shelly massage my neck for 30 minutes. My neck was so stiff and it actually losened up a little. It was painful but that's what I was here for. It's hard to communicate if you don't speak chinese but good thing I have a translator with me. I've been to JF four times. The first time Sam was very informative about what he was trying to accomplish to adjust my back. I visited for 30 minutes each time until the last time when Sam decided to milk me for an hour. I cannot remember how much time he spent massaging my head and at times he seemed to be in a haze, sleepy. Sam wasn't at the top of his game. Unfortunate. So my rating went from four stars back to two. Note to Sam, if you wish to have customers return - please be consistent. I spent $80 on 2 hours of massage! 1 Hour foot and 1 Hour full body. This place is quiet quaint and accepts walk ins! The full body massage was just amazing. Don't walk in expecting oils and aromatherapy but do know that they are knowledgeable about the human anatomy and understands where to apply pressure and get the deepest kinks! Almost all the foot massage parlors have mixed reviews so I just found a decent rating one and that's close enough to me, and I ended up here at JF. I was going to get a 60-min foot spa but I was running out of time so I called ahead to make sure that they have a 30-min service as well. I spoke mandarin to them to make sure they don't say funny things about me - they do speak Cantonese but they should assume we all sort of understand each other, and I do understand them. If you want to talk about professionalism, all these Chinese/ Asian parlors don't have it, after all how can you expect them to be like Burke Williams or Four Seasons (hotel)?! As long they're nice, I'm good. So when I got there, one lady spoke in Cantonese to another lady who's eating her lunch at the waiting area that she doesn't wanna "do" me, and back and forth for about two minutes, I almost wanna cut in and said "she's taking her lunch. Let her eat in peace." Oh well, not sure the reason why she doesn't wanna "do" me, but just let me get some love on my feet for 30 minutes and I'll be on my way. There's individual rooms with a massage bed and lunge chair in each, and I lied on the lounge chair while the lady prepared my water to soak my feet in. I soaked my feet for about 5 minutes and the lunch-eating lady came in and started on my calf. She worked each leg starting from calf and down to the foot, and she knew what she was doing although she was a bit light with her hand. Before she was done, she would massage a little on my thighs, which was very nice, and she told me bc I was pregnant, the other lady was afraid to work on me (something to do with pressure points and if they pressed the wrong one, I may go in labor, hehehe). 30 minutes foot spa for $20 but a 60 min will only cost you $30, and they work from your head, shoulders and neck, arms, thighs and down to the feet. Total of that is 50min and the last 10 minutes, they ask what you want to focus on and you may choose to lie on the bed in the room. They all wear glove so you don't have the "skin to skin" contact! Their English isn't great but I think you can get by even if you don't speak Chinese (usually their son (?) works at the front desk and his English is perfect). Massage was good, but felt cheated on the time. I had hip pain, so I scheduled a 1 hour massage with Sam ($60). I was asked to come in at 3:15 to allow time for the previous customer to exit. It took 5 minutes for Sam to come in and start on me, so it's 3:20, then, during the massage he left to take a phone call, another 5 minutes. After the massage, I paid $60, and tipped. I didn't realize, until I was back in my car, that it wasn't even 4pm yet! So, the massage was at best 30-32 minutes, and I was charged for a full hour. I feel like a fool for tipping, but didn't realize the time until too late. I feel taken advantage of. A professional should be cognizant of the time, and not take phone calls. Sam is the greatest. For over half a year, when I get out of bed I felt a lot of pain in the soles of my feet. The pain gradually subsided over the course of the morning. I only found out yesterday that this pain has a name for it and it is plantar fasiitis! So I went to see Sam yesterday evening based on other Yelp reviews here, and today when I put my feet down I'm pain free for the first time in months. I had a 45 minute reflexology treatment. The foot reflexology does not feel good. He's breaking up adhesions and increasing blood flow. It's like torture. I was ready to confess anything, answer any question he asked! 5 stars for a wonderful, family owned business that seriously gets the job done. ive heard from my mechanic, novajoe.com, that this place delivered, and yes, it's true. i met sam, the owner and he was great. from just a few minutes of rubbing my feet, he was able to detect that i had stress pains in my shoulder and that i go to sleep late in the night, and suggested that i drink more water, not cold. chinese people dont really like anything cold. 7 days a week, 10-10 hours, plentiful and free parking, and seriously good bodywork. this is accupressure, chinese style. AND, the prices are almost TOO reasonable. much different from the japanese style. and what's great is that sam can tell you exactly what's going on with your body, instead of having that obscure language barrier thing going on. he also gave me some interesting tips for my grandmother to sleep better and alleviate her arthritis. cant wait to go back! ps - don't be fooled, the 'jf foot bath' on el camino was once the same company/owners, but that location has been sold to another person. this hillside street location is the OG. read more

I did a 60 min foot massage here. The foot massage exceeds its value which is better than I expected. The foot massage has a focus on your shoulder and arms first then go to foot. The water used to soak foot smells full of Chinese medicine which removes the smells of your foot well. read more

In the name of Chinese reflexology......Sam KNOWS what he is doing. If you want a results-oriented pressure point massage (rather than random all-over rubbing), this IS the place. I suggest asking for 60 minutes ($60+ tip) and telling him you want feet and shoulders (two places where we often hold our tension). The first 30 minutes are spent strategically rubbing and pressing into your feet -- somewhat piercing, AMAZING afterwards. The next 30, you lie on a table and he kneads your neck shoulders like nothing you have experienced before. It is painful, not relaxing. The relaxation comes afterwards, when you realize how much TENSION you have released. The results last MUCH longer (especially if you make this part of your routine) than a traditional massage. read more
