Parking in front is somewhat limited but there is additional parking along the side of the building. There is one handicapped space in front, adjacent to the building. The Jean Laffite is a combination of their Voodoo chicken and Bumblebee stew. There were generous portions of both and plenty of rice to go along with it. The Voodoo chicken is spicy and very flavorful. The Bumblebee stew is good on it's own, but I preferred the spicy dish more. I ordered this takeout and did have to heat it up when I got home. Ok, usually I wait until I've gone to a place more than once to write a review but I am in LOVE with this place. J. Gumbo's is a family-owned restaurant that serves homemade Cajun food. It is the definition of a hometown favorite. As I waited for my order, I heard one of the owners greeting so many customers by name and even a few, she knew their order! "Your usual?" I love that! Now I will say I read a few of the other reviews and noticed comments on lack of spice. I think restaurants have to tone things down a bit to service the majority. Remember, you can always ask for more spice, more heat but you can't take it away! Anything they have on the menu, you can sample. They also have several hot sauces available too if you feel the need. For me, I like spice but I can't handle spicy if that makes sense. I ended up ordering a sampler plate of 3 different entrees. I thought, oh I'll take what's left home. Well... I did. I took home nothing because I ate it all! #DoNotJudge #NoRegrets! After finishing my delicious meal, I was taking a few photos of the art. The other owner noticed and came out to tell me about the artist who did much of the displayed art! It's a crazy value you're getting your money's worth what you paid for it. The shrimp was deep fried and not baby shrimp. Stuff was big, big enough where I can barely close a sandwich. Fortunately, I have good hand dexterity. for others, they do include a fork and knife. They have the craziest nicest people that own this place.
