We asked if they had a sports game on the TV and they couldn't get it on the TV and so they got it on a laptop! It might have been because it was a slow night but it shows that they really care. Visiting Chattanooga for a kayaking event. We came early to rest and explore the area. Arrived late Friday and went for a walk and we stumbled on Blue Orleans. We had The location is beautiful. The decor was tasteful with nods to Louisiana and New Orleans (NO). We walked in at 9 pm, 30 minutes before they close. We all ordered gumbo but it was sold out. The chef came out to explain so we ordered something else. Chef Mo brought us the remainder of the gumbo so we could have a sample. It was delicious. We ordered jambalaya and shrimp po'boy. The jambalaya was a great pick, the shrimp po'boy was pretty good, the bread was amazing, the shrimp were juicy and fresh. I added hot sauce for some zing. We were full but pre ordered beignets so I had to take one for the team and eat one. The best I've had outside of NO. The chef brought my friends an extra lil treat. Cherry bread puddling. I'll be honest I'm not a fan and did not want to try it. (It's a texture issue for me) However these were different. We were presented with 4 golden brown hush puppy looking delights in a cast iron skillet covered in a rum sauce. I took a small bite, the outside was crispy and the inside was moist chewy and delicious. It was an unexpected surprise. We completely loved the experience and the staff. Our family had the most amazing experience at Blue Orleans! From the incredible food to the outstanding hospitality, this place truly exceeded our expectations. We ordered the sample platter, which lets you choose five different dishes. We tried the shrimp gumbo, étouffée, and red beans and rice--and somehow, the chef surprised us by bringing out six dishes instead of five! Talk about going above and beyond! Several members of our family normally aren't fans of New Orleans-style food, so we honestly weren't sure what everyone would think. Well... every single person loved it! The food was so good that the bowls were literally licked clean. Everything was packed with flavor, perfectly prepared, and clearly made with a lot of love. Then came the surprise dessert: fried blueberry bread pudding bites with a bourbon caramel glaze. WOW! The plate didn't stand a chance--we cleaned that one too! Perfectly light and fluffy on the inside, golden and crisp on the outside, and covered in just the right amount of powdered sugar. Every bite felt like a little taste of New Orleans. Overall we had a great experience. Food was very tasty- we got the shrimp and grits and the Nawlins pasta. Both had excellent flavor. We got there at 6 and the food took a bit of time to come out, but overall was worth the wait. I so wanted to like this place but was completely disappointed with my meal. I ordered Chef Mike's Crab cakes to go. I arrived after providing my credit card over the phone and was told the machine wouldn't allow them to run my card and not be present. Plus I called to confirm my order was ready and was told yes but when arrived inside told to have a seat and wait because it wasn't ready. So the order comes in a bowl ... strange since there's greens and vegetable paella. The server says oh no it's just crab cakes. I pull the menu and show her and she says oh yeah it's in there. I open the bowl to find greens on the bottom, vegetable paella on top of it and two crab cakes on top of it all. After driving home and biting into the greens they are sweet. But worse the $28 crab cakes are almost all breading with minimal crab meat! Definitely not worth the price. I've heard from others the place is good but as for me... I'm still disappointed about how i was treated the weekend of Mother's day. I had a reservation for Saturday May 9, 2026 at 6pm. I was supposed to be treating my mom who was with me. We arrived at 5:40pm. We had to pay $15 for parking. When we arrived there was a party going on. A lady saw us and ran up to tell us that they were not serving walk ins. I explained to her that I had a reservation for 6pm. She said we'll unfortunately they didn't call you to cancel your reservation but oh well we're not serving anyone until after 8pm. Then she walked off and left us standing there. So we left to go find somewhere to eat. But everything was full of course. Which is why I made a reservation. It was easy to find parking. Yes, we would definitely go again. But, my folks are from New Orleans. I'm down there a good bit. It's my fave place to eat in the whole wide world. Came in earlier this week with my father and my girlfriend. We started off with the gator bites, we ended up getting the creole pasta, the shrimpalya, and the gulf shrimp pasta. The food was incredible. So much flavor. The meal was topped off, with the chef, who I believe is one of the owners as well, coming to say hi and bringing us a delicious dessert. Along with the great food, our server was very friendly and helpful. Terrible service, sub-par food, and was overcharged. My friend was visiting town and wanted some cajun food (since we are both from Louisiana originally) and I heard good things about this restaurant. Wow were we disappointed. So for starters, we sat down a little before 7:30pm as one of the only two tables present. We placed our appetizer orders with the waitress/bartender, and then immediately a gentleman came up to take our entre order. We went ahead and ordered food--shrimp and grits, a pasta dish, and I ordered the appetizer gumbo with no rice. I recently had surgery and was on a pretty strict diet. After 30 minutes, the appetizers come out--all is good so far. Then the gentleman server brought out shrimp and grits and some rice based dish--no pasta, no gumbo. And then the waiting began. It took about 30 more minutes until the original waitress came over and asked how things were. She apologized, took the rice dish away and said that she would bring us the correct entrees. 15 minutes later we receive a gumbo WITH rice and the correct pasta dish. Okay--obviously the two employees are struggling with only two tables but no worries, I just won't eat. I've already waited over an hour. I sip a little of the broth and enjoy my company. As an apology, the gentleman brings out beignets that were so burnt and hard we literally could not bite into them. I tried cutting one with a fork and couldn't even get through it. They were SO hard and burnt it's offensive to even call them beignets. We're thinking--okay, let's wrap up this experience. My friends are in a hotel for the night so they place to-go orders. We get the checks and--unsurprisingly to everyone--my check is wrong. My $12 bowl of gumbo is a $28 pasta dish. We tell the gentleman about the mixup, he apologizes and says he'll fix it--then he never returns. We literally didn't see him again until we were leaving. My friend shows a $21 charge on his receipt for my gumbo--crazy considering the menu price is $9 cheaper and the portion I received didn't even fill half of the to-go bowl I asked for--but at this point we just want to leave. The main waitress comes back over, we pay, we barely tip, the waitress then accidentally spills powdered sugar all over our bags, we leave. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had in Chattanooga and I'm disappointed this place can even call themselves a restaurant. Disrespectful to Louisiana food. read more

The hostess that greeted us was friendly and attentive and the waiter was just learning but very professional and attentive. We started with a couple of hurricanes to drink. Those weee mixed well and tasted great, ended up having two! The food was beyond fantastic!!!! I had the shrimp and grits and my girlfriend had the French creole pasta. Both were amazing. We also had the crab cakes as an appetizer and again they were delicious. Mike, the owner/chef checked in on us several times and even gave us complimentary desserts, because he thought the entrees took too long to get to us, however I did not think it took long at all!! OK positive first. This was my first time there a party of 4. They have lots of 4 and 2 seat simple tables and chairs, nothing fancy. They also have a small but nice bar with full service with an excellent bartender (is a woman called a bartender? I don't know but she was great). In fact, everyone was friendly and helpful. We had reservations so they sat us on time. We order one of those boards with various foods on them while waiting for another couple and it was really good. Parking can be a challenge downtown but they have parking against the building with a few spaces. OK a couple of minor things. I would not order the alligator bites again. The serving size was very small and the bites themselves were much too small. I have had them other places, much better. Secondly, we recieved our appetizers pretty quickly but for some reason it too an hour to get our main dishes. Two were just jambalya in a cup. The Waitress was nice and apologized but I guess I was expecting something substaintial. Maybe a offer us a free drink while we waited. The shrimp pasta had an amazing sauce and the greens that came with the catfish were perfectly seasoned. My husband and I recently drove into Chattanooga, checked into our hotel we didn't even unload the car and headed directly to Blue Orleans before they closed for the evening. What a delight to find the restaurant ambiance and vibe still thriving with exceptional service. Although Chef Mike was not in, his staff represented very well in service and taste. Our food was delicious and full of flavor, if I'd closed my eyes, I would have thought I was in New Orleans. Keesha actually came out with a to go container thinking I wouldn't be able to finish, Ha! that was not the case I ate every bit of it. The owner, who was also the bartender, informed us where the restrooms were and informed us of each item that was available at the buffet.
