The nerve of this place. I ordered delivery since have a broken leg and they demanded that i come down from the 6th floor to pick up at the lobby. .The deliveryman's reason was no parking. WTF. He hadn't even gotten to the building and used this excuse. I have never ordered delivery in this area and not been delivered. DO NOT advertise delivery if you cant do it properly. JJ Garden is the best HANDS DOWN! I have tried all the Chinese places in Douglaston, Little Neck, Great Neck, Springfield, Fresh Meadows and Bayside...none of them can touch JJ Garden. We drive 22 miles back and forth every weekend for the last couple of years to JJ's and never get disappointed. They have the best fried rice and I love their boneless spare ribs, Beef teriyaki, Chicken Teriyaki and roast pork! My wife loves all of their Shrimp dishes and my kids never get tired of the Chicken Lo-Mein. Don't forget to ask for the Teriyaki sauce and their Chili oil! read more

By far the best Chinese in the area of Corona/Jackson Heights/East Elmhurst. I ordered the fried chicken wings, better than "yummy kitchen" restaura t. The breading is super crunchy and full of flavor and u also get 6 of these in each order. Also ordered the chow ho fun (shrimp), soo delicious, the vegetables in there are fresh, very yummy flavor and plenty of shrimp. Also ordered the pork sui mai.. great price, so delicious, very flavorful, i could definitely eat these by themselves, it did come with a cute container of soy sauce, too bad the sauce was way to salty n sour for me, but u don't need it anyway. This was a regular spot for me for years!! I recently just went back since I moved away and don't live as close anymore and they totally still remembered me and my family! Had the General Tso Tofu. I took it to go so I can't really comment on the service. The cashier was nice enough. The brown rice was good, came w broccoli and the sauce wasn't overly sweet (which is all great). I think the tofu had spoiled though. Had a tang of offness. And the way it was prepared I also didn't care for. Maybe it's a style I haven't had before, but unlike typical general tso Tofu that I love where the tofu is deep fried and has a crispness to the outside and a softness to the inside, JJ Garden Tofu has a sludge of gelatinous goo covering the Tofu. I always order take out here, its been a couple of months of consistently good food and friendly staff. My sit down experiences were also excellent. The dumplings are great. I've had both steamed and fried and they are both delicious unlike some places. Every time we come in the staff is friendly and acts like they know who we are which is a very big + in my opinion, and a huge rarity at most Asian restaurants. First this place got a C rating by the Dept. of Health. Numerous cleanliness violations including mice and roaches. Second, compared to others in the area they charge the MOST for "lunch specials" and give you the least amount of food! The food was never that good. Too greasy and or bland. Also if you call for delivery they take FOREVER to deliver. Three times I tried and was almost an hour each time and I live 5 minutes away.........WALKING DISTANCE! Best Chinese I've had in the neighborhood so far (Lin's, Nanking, Peking Kitchen, Empire). I usually have the sesame chicken as a baseline comparison. JJ Garden's sesame chicken is the only one I've had so far that was chunks of real white meat chicken, instead of some chewy meat like substance. That goes a long way for me. The sauce is a little thick and sweet, but at least the equal of all the other places. Also had 4-5 decent chunks of broccoli. The price was a little high, but I'm willing to pay it if it means quality ingredients. I had to meet the delivery guy in front of my building, which is slightly annoying but not a deal breaker. I have had dinner in the restaurant in the past and the food was good. But mostly I get take out. No matter how many times I tell the woman who takes the order to have them cook the dish with very little oil, it is greasy and the ends are fried to a crisp where you cannot eat it. I end up cutting it off and throwing it away. I once called to complain when I got it home, and the woman just listened but said nothing. Tonight was the worst. Disgusting! I hope you all know that J J Garden got a C rating by the NYC Dept of Health on 4/10/2011. 47 violation points including "evidence of mice", "live roaches", tobacco use, etc. I don't care if they get A's from now until hell freezes over. I've eaten there many times and now I get nauseous thinking about it. Side note...Their restaurant delivery guys are lazy, won't deliver into apartment buildings, and make you to come down stairs. I rarely ordered from them to begin with because of this, their small portion sizes, price, and slowness to deliver. P.S. Frankly I'm disgusted by all the violations that many restaurants in Jackson Heights get. I'll be venting about others soon too but J J is by far the worst I've seen on the NYC Dept of Health website. Great food . Not the typical chines food establishments that their fried rice is yellow sazon rice. Or the sesame chicken is comprised of hot sauce and ketchup to my amazement it was real fried rice white rice with beef base for color. I said wow. Usually other restaurants cater to the savages and mutts for their delicacies edible to them. I must say I have come here twice and both times I have found the staff to be very rude. The soup is thick with cornstarch and anytime you ask them to customize food for you they refuse and say everything is pre cooked. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Just ordered from there and yuck! General Tso's chicken soggy with over cooked broccoli and a sweet honey type sauce drizzled over it. Chicken with broccoli decent tasting chicken but little of it with more over over cooked broccoli. It used to be a decent take out this time it was pretty bad.
